I have nothing but positive things to say about this organization. Unfortunately, we had to surrender our animal due to some unfortunate circumstances. We reached out to a lot of animal rescue organizations and they were one of only a few who were willing to take in our animal. They were able to find him a foster home right away and he was adopted shortly after that.Very thankful that this organization was willing to take a chance on our animal as many other organizations were not willing to do so. A lot of people view people who surrender animals as selfish, but this was not the case for us. We had to surrender our animal for circumstances that were out of our control and they were not judgmental and were very empathetic to our situation. They were able to find him a forever home almost immediately and we couldn't be more grateful.

So we are not looking to adopt but my daughter loves animals. She did a lemonade stand to raise money for a place in need. She found this place. I was so happy she has the biggest heart to give everything she made to a shelter for animals. With a lot of nice and caring people she raised $55.This is a lot for a 8 year old that could have bought toys.Long story short we get there and no pets to see. The person who took her money never even asked her name. She left in tears! Thanks for a human being to be nice to a kid who wanted to help.I hope her money goes to good!!!Could have made her day but I had to bring her to another place.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience adopting from Last Hope. I’ve had my kitten for a week and when he got a case of diarrhea I called them and they connected me with a vet in the city I live and covered it. Everyone has been super helpful and kind. Thank you for all you do!

Great organization. We fostered a few dogs but were unable to adopt one ourselves. Nevertheless, the staff was great in helping us figure out what type of dog we would like and they included food for the dogs we did foster. Consider being a 4 footed foster family today.

I got a 3 year old yellow Labrador from Last Hope two years ago.In the dog adoption process I talked to a number of Last Hope's volunteers, including a meet-and-greet with another dog that I wound up not adopting the week before I found my new family member. I found Last Hope's dog coordinator and fosters very communicative and useful, and clearly with the best interests of the animals at heart. There were no crazy rules or rude people that I ran into - if anything, this rescue's rules were more forgiving than when my sister adopted a dog from a rescue in another state. Of COURSE they need to hear that your landlord has approved you to get a dog before you can adopt one.My dog Holly's profile was up on their website days before she even arrived at one of their fosters, and she got a full vet check before I adopted her and was cleared health-wise. Holly was just recovering from kennel cough she got at the shelter Last Hope rescued her from, and Last Hope told me that if she had any additional associated health issues shortly after adoption to let them know and bring them to one of their approved vets and they'd help with the bills (not necessary). The Last Hope fosters and dog coordinator were very communicative with me during the whole process, and when I was $12 short on cash at the adoption fair due to a higher-than-expected (though still reasonable) adoption fee, one of their volunteers spotted me the difference so I wouldn't have to go find an ATM and risk her getting adopted by someone else in the meantime. Holly is healthy, joyful, cuddly, and puts a smile on our faces every day. Thank you Last Hope for putting her in our lives!

I foster for Last Hope, so may be a little biased. I read through these reviews and do not know all the details of the bad ones, but do want to say that there are 2 sides to every story. When we adopt our animals out we do ask a lot of questions. We do that for the safety of our animals. I’m not saying we are perfect in any way, and we make mistakes as any rescue will do. We get dogs and cats that have been abused, are sick, shy, scared you name it, we get them. We spend a lot of time in our own homes, since we are a foster only rescue, trying to rehab these animals to help them become good pets and companions. We take them in for regular vet visits. These animals see the vets more than our own pets!! We try to make sure they are healthy and ready for that new home before we put them up for adoption. Dogs and especially cats can hide their illness though and even a vet may not catch it and it could come out when they are in a new home, which could explain why some animals become sick after adoption. I do have to put some responsibility on the adopter if they already have a resident pet to make sure that animal has been to the vet and is clean of any illness or parasite like we do. Most don’t, then blame us when they get something from their pet. The post of the cat that was hit by the car, and then sadden when the cat had to be euthanized. He didn’t get any details from the vet. There may have been something that developed after the cat was dropped off he knew nothing about, but blamed us when the animal could not be saved and we had to do the right thing. We don’t euthanize healthy animals. They are with us until they are adopted. Last Hope has spent a lot of money helping sick, abused and injured animals. We are a non-profit and our books are open if anyone would like to check on this. To the ones who said we were ‘rude’, I would like to hear both stories. How rude were you to who you complained to? Being a foster who has to turn down some adopters for various reasons I do get some abuse from people. If you are going to let a cat outside or don’t have permission from your landlord to have a dog, or have small kids that may harm a small kitten, yes, I’m going to turn you down. So would any rescue worth its salt, but we can’t speak for them. I will say most people I talk to are wonderful, and we couldn’t do it without our adopters. I’ve been with Last Hope for just over 2 years and have found homes for over 50 cats and kittens, so we don’t say ‘no’ too often and it’s ones who we say no to for a very legitimate reason that complain here. Last Hope has saved over 40,000 lives in the past 30 years, which means we have lots of very happy adopters and we appreciate everyone of them.

After a 15 minute conversation with the foster parents of Denali, I received one of the most disrespectful messages from Jaime one of the dog coordinators. When I saw the dog she had been so badly abused and scared of everything, I didn't want to stress her out so I kept my distance and asked the fosters questions about her. I had mentioned I raised my previous dog to be my pheasant hunting partner when I was 13, unfortunately he passed from old age. They have not done a background check, home visit, NOTHING. But some how from me listening to them talk about the dog they said I am not an experienced Dog owner and my "environment" is not what they are looking for. They said she needs a lot of attention, I'm a real estate agent, I work at home and when I leave she would have come with me (I told the foster family this as well), I live alone and I really miss my old dog and the company he brought me so to be told I'm not fit, and have them assume anything about me from a 15 minute conversation is absolutely ridiculous. I feel like I was DISCRIMINATED BASED ON AGE (I'm 21). I was also told that I made the foster family uncomfortable....I guess you're not allowed to text the foster family and ask how the dog is doing AFTER THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT THEM CLOSER TO AUGUST 1. The foster family did mention their dog recently passed and no one but me has been interested in the dog, I do believe these foster people are just sad about their dog passing and wants to deem everyone unfit so they don't have to pay for the dog or go through losing another dog. How can a company say they want these dogs to go to a good home, but are to lazy to follow protocol and allow equal opportunity to all? Jaime, please get some more training, its much needed.

I first heard of Last Hope through my daughter's friend's birthday party that was taking donations for the organization instead of birthday presents. They had adopted two cats from Last Hope. My daughters and I stopped in to Last Hope last week thinking we might be able to see some foster dogs, but they all had homes (which was great!). Meghan was seated at her desk and greeted us. She was very friendly and you could tell her love for animals in the stories she shared. She directed me to the website to fill out a foster application. She also let me know about the foster dog event at Petco in AV a couple days later. We visited Petco and got to interact with the foster dogs and loving foster parents. All the dogs looked happy and healthy. Looking forward to fostering with this great organization!

I am a puppy foster for Last Hope and I wish all the 100's of people who have adopted from us and been very, very satisfied with how we work would post reviews. It is always easier to post something negative. Happy people don't feel the need. Each dog is unique and each prospective family is different. I have had to say no to people who have gotten very upset with me. I will not go into the reasons because they are different for each situation.Working with puppies I know that we have often paid for follow up care on pups that turned out to have health issues. We can only communicate what we know and do our best to fix anything that we were not aware of.No rescue is perfect because we are people and volunteers. We all try our best for the dogs in our care to be honest and find the best possible home for them.

They have everything. For every animal. It is so amazing how giving they are with everything from dog, cat food/treats to hair care like Clippers to reworking medication and ear cleaning solution. To pet cages and toys. It is the most amazing place. The best thing is that they don't mind if you bring your fury little pale with you. Thank you Last hope for keeping our animals happy, sheltered and alive. They do foster care as well. So feel free to become a foster care representative.

My 2 oldest cats passed away 6 months apart from each other. I was devastated! I still have my orange tabby 13 yr old diabetic cat and love him dearly but had a hole in my heart from not having a female cat. Went to a couple of Petco's to check out the cats. I found 2 females I liked and talked to the foster moms as I needed to find a cat that would like my cat and 2 dogs. I found Mittens and fell in love with her! I got a hold of Julie(her foster mom) and told her I wanted to adapt her. She got the paperwork ready and I met her at petco and I took mittens home that day!! She is a wonderful loving cat and gets along great with my other animals! The people that foster these animals are very loving, informational and work great with these animals. I will adopt another animal again from last hope! They are the fast!!!❤ bless you all!

Failure to disclose crucial health information about our adopted cat that has cost us hundreds of dollars so far and we’ve only had him for a month. When we called to confront their failure and ask for reimbursement of our medical bills, we were declined. They have a policy that covers medical issues within one week of getting the cat, but when we called we received no answer and no call back. All they offered to do was to take him back, but he had already become a beloved member of the family and we couldn’t imagine giving him up. Extremely disappointed in the lack of attentiveness and care of this place. These rescue animals deserve better.

My family and I adopted my dog Harley from Last Hope years ago. He and the other puppies were in great condition and for the large dog he is, the price was great. We are now using Last Hope for our second dog because of the friendly volunteers who contribute to such a great cause. I would definitely recommend others to adopt from this rescue.

Earlier this week I had submitted a very negative review of Last Hope, based on a very bad experience with a botched adoption and an unprofessional individual. Since then, I have had a chance to work with the founder and several board members. They have gone to great lengths to ensure our concerns were met and that things were made right by our family. One individual should not be enough to condemn an entire organization. I would recommend Last Hope: They truly do care about their mission of finding loving homes for their animals.

Picked up my little guy from foster mom. She was kind. Gave me all the paperwork, his food, micro chip and sent us on our way. We love our little furbaby and we are aware of all the issues we are tending with. The only issue is we are not sure picture of our guy is same as him. Ours has a defect that is not apparent on the furbaby. I do love what they do and stand up for. Big hugs to this rescue. I strongly suggest this rescue for looking for a pet to adopt from! If there were more stars I would give them more

We were not given the complete medical background of our adopted cat! After finding out he had herpes, (simply by calling the veterinarian he had on their file of him) we tried calling back IMMEDIATELY and got no response. This was within 48 hours. Now we’re paying for medical bills and they claim to “have never been contacted within the 1-week policy for their medical assistance program”Look somewhere else for a foster pet, please.

Adopted a cat a little over a year ago. The cat had some medical concerns and last hope helped with the bill to have the cat checked out before we fully committed to keeping the cat. She turned out perfectly healthy! Felt like they cared about the cat and home, planning on getting another one soon! Not sure about the negative reviews, but if you talk to the owner, she will step up and ensure a happy adoption! (Every company might have some ruder employees, but we did not witness this at all). Also some of the reviews complain about medical issues, the truth is rescued animals might have medical concerns, they are not pure bred breeders selling animals, they are a rescue operation trying to find home for animals in need. If you aren't loving enough to care for a sick animal, you probably shouldn't have one.

The lady (Angela) i'm dealing with is childish and started saying we broke contract because we aren't supposed to adopt if we run a day care. We don't run a day care. We have friends with children come over and we baby sit them for a couple hours so they can get things done. They gave us a sick dog who poses a health risk to everyone who comes in contact with the dog and the rest of our animals too. We didn't break contract, Last Hope BROKE THE LAW and they are trying to turn it on us. We adopted him thinking we were adopting a healthy dog because that's what we were told. But apparently we are in the wrong. Just so anyone knows if you find out your animal is sick after you've adopted them and they didn't tell you something was wrong with your animal that is AGAINST THE LAW. By law animals are treated as property like buying a gas grill. If the gas is leaking and you have to get it fixed on your own they have to tell you that before you buy it. Last Hope said he was tested for heart worms so he was healthy. Bullshit. I want a refund for the dog and everything we've put into him.

Last Hope bought us our loving Calvin (Rugby) He was very sick when they got him and took excellent care of him before and after we adopted. He has filled our hearts with love. Thank you Last Hope for bringing us together. Funny how you love them before you even know them.

They literally stole my dog after animal control mistakenly gave him to them. I live in Atlanta Ga but came to MN for a film project plus to see family. My mother could not have dogs at her place so a friend of my cousins was suppose to watch him while I was in town. Apparently he ran away (probably trying to find me) about a week or so being in her care. Sadly she failed to inform me although I asked about him weekly if not every other day. I had just checked on him a few days before he took off. Once I was informed by her boyfriend that he was missing I immediately looked him up and found him on the animal control site. I called and was told he was at a shelter but they couldn't give me the name because these were the shelters "rules" with owners trying to reclaim their pets. Mind you I've had this dog since he was a puppy he is now 7 years old going on 8. He also was a rescue dog as I got him because a friend had rescued him from a bad situation with a broken jaw and abscess tooth that was practically hanging out his mouth. I knew they couldn't afford to take care of him so I adopted him, took him to the vet and paid for all his medical needs etc. He was my BABY and admittedly I was known for spoiling him. Even his dog food was only the refrigerated kind which I added tomato sauce and slightly heated it for him or gave him meat (mainly chicken), fish, rice, vegetables and fruit EVERYDAY. Me and my ex nicknamed him "Baby dog" because he's the cutest chihuahua ever and he always slept UNDER the covers with me. I adored him and he came everywhere with me. I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2006 and I have a license in GA for Peedi (like Petey) as a service dog. I described his crooked jaw to animal control and the cause as to confirm he was really mine. I was asked what happened & I explained in full. Animal control said they would contact the shelter and that they will contact me. 2 days later animal control called again and asked about the jaw situation so I told them again. I even said I have the vet bills and paperwork on it in my email although this happened 7 years ago and he's fine now. She said she was surprised he was 7 and really thought he was only 2-3 years old. I said thats just because he's so cute and handsome. Anyway a week later I finally get a call from what I NOW know is "Last Hope". As they refused to tell me who they were, where he was at etc. but she told me in order to get Peedi back I would have to pay them over $700.00 as they (surprise surprise) had to re-fix his jaw and remove another tooth. Now I'm not a vet but I'm not stupid either. My dog was FINE since the procedure done 7 years ago. He had since been back to the vet for check ups and he wasn't showing any signs of the jaw being an issue again. He was ALWAYS sensitive and didn't want anyone touching that side of his mouth ever again because he was in a lot of pain for a long time before I got him and took care of his jaw. I was furious because I felt they were not only lying to me but they were overcharging me to get MY OWN DOG BACK. Who in their right mind wants to give a complete stranger their credit card info to charge a ridiculous bill they already paid for years ago to get their own dog back when they don't even KNOW WHERE HE IS AND WHAT THE FACILITY NAME IS?! They had no reason to hide their identity from me. I ended up having to get surgery myself that same month which just made the situation even tougher. I called continually hoping to get some fair results I asked for the bill to be brought down or possibly do payment plan, but NOTHING. Finally when I got the money and just had enough and wanted my baby back I broke down and let them know I was willing to pay the whole bill. She then stated that he had already been adopted! I asked when and WHO THE HECK ARE YOU GUYS TO BEGIN WITH? She said it was 2 weeks ago and that they were Last Hope and he had been with a foster. She said they advertised him on the website the whole time and a family adopted him. Funny thing is I had already came across their website, HE WAS NEVER LISTED.

I noticed right away this place really cares about pets and getting them a good home. I highly recommend them, you won’t regret it. Kyla was great and very informative. We are so happy with our cat Delyla (Pipsqueak). She is such a princess!

I wanted to adopt a lab puppy from this organization and everything seemed alright until she found out we did not have a fence in our yard. We currently own a 3 year old yellow lab that and we were denied on the fact that we did not have a fence in the yard. Our yard is 1.9 acres, plenty of room for the dogs to run around outside and have a training collar. One of the emails was as follows:"I would like you to look into an invisible fence company to get an estimate on what it would cost. The reason is without it, you will be returning her when she is 9 months old.. It happens 99% of the time. Can you buy the invisible fence?"We could not afford an invisible fence at this time and but we would still like to adopt the puppy, overall my interaction with her she came off rude and making claims about a 99% return rate for people with no fences.I think pet adoption is a great thing, but dealing with this lady made me not want to deal with her or recommend Last-Hope to people in the future. I feel bad for the animals that are being placed with her they could be missing out on some great homes but being denied by a "checklist" of must haves.

This little boy is so sweet! We were told he was shy. My granddaughter let him out of the carrier as soon as we got home and 3 days later he actually came out of hiding. He is so full of energy!!! We found he is okay with other cats, dogs are another story. We are working on it. Could not have made a better choice!

Last Hope is an amazing rescue and not perfect by any means. With that being said, I think this organization does a WONDERFUL job of doing what they do - rescue and rehome unwanted dogs and cats. This rescue has many wonderful volunteers that take their time to care for the animals and ensure that they get the best home possible, not just any home. We take strays, pull from shelters, take in surrenders/returns, and even transport animals from other states to save lives. I'm afraid these animals would not be alive today if Last Hope hadn't stepped up and taken them. It's so rewarding to see these abandoned animals find their forever homes. Last Hope has been around for 30 years and I think that is amazing!!

I have been involved with Last Hope for many years as their webmaster. We have adopted a number of animals from the group and have always found the volunteer staff to be open, fair and ALWAYS looking out for what's best for the animals. They have been doing this for an uncounted number of years, and I trust their judgement about finding the RIGHT home for all their furry kids!

Wanted to adopt a dog - Have own 2 purebred Titled hunting dogs - we do not have a fenced in yard we were DENIED. We actually worked with and trained both "high-energy" dogs to stay in our yard, not to bark and exercised them, always outside with them. Something the "fenced in" neighbors never do. You made us feel unworthy - you are wrong! Heard this from friends that were denied also. I will no longer support you!
