I've been there a couple times this month and I'm truly blown away at the workers.. both times (diff. People both times) have been super helpful, happy to help me, and they've actually helped me with product knowledge to the point I changed material to better fit my needs.. all of your staff needs a party thrown for them or something because they are working hard and so kind about it, even when it was close to closing they were awesome! Its not even one department, they all were awesome.

Love the store and selection, but concerned for the staff: saw a manager openly yelling at one of his employees in the middle of the store today in an argument. While the employee very well may have needed to have a discussion (I don't know the back story), to do it in public in front of shoppers and at a yelling volume was uncomfortable for me (and I imagine also the employee). Not okay!

My whole trip to Menards today was amazing. I needed so much help and I wanted to express my gratitude to Holden, Gabe and Gabe! They were awesome at helping me with all of my needs Menards headquarters will you please give them all a raise please thank you very much🙂

Very disappointed in menards today. I bought a vacuum at the store 2 weeks ago the belt broke. I figured they would sell the belts as they are a normal wear item but nope they don't carry the belts for this vacuum. And I was going to buy another item while I was there and the lines were 6 to 7 deep with 2 registers open and waited a few minutes but the store never opened another line. After today menards in Detroit lakes will be my last stop to buy anything

Couldn’t get someone to help at first. Then when i went to return it, do to it not being a product it was made out to be, linda at customer service was extremely rude and full of attitude. 4/1/24

Special ordered a door. Unsure if it was delivered yet, I went to the back (order pickup) counter. The employee, Josh, looked it up on the computer then just left to see if he can find it. He returned to the counter and rested my door down. I asked, can I drive my truck around back and load it. He states, "NO! It's already been signed out." So then I go searching around the store for a cart and load it on my own and push out the front. Thank you sir, hope you have a better day.

Clean, friendly, well organized with clear pricing on nearly everything. My only complaint was doing a pick-up order, I had anticipated it being complete within the day and it was a day or two later. Now, maybe it was noted somewhere and I understand in today's world we've been conditioned to want and "need" things NOW, I'm just saying it'd be nice to have an estimate on the timeline for a pick-up order.

Extremely disappointed with the customer care service I was "helped" with on 6/2/23.I walked up and said hello with a smile, zero response and just stared at me with a judging demeanor.My business is tax exempt and I had to get something fixed on one of my receipts that didn't ring up correctly and she stated she can't do anything about it because the store was in North Dakota.....on the receipt it states it was purchased in Moorhead. She refused to listen to my response and shut me down. She said I needed to go home to my at home computer when I have had the same issues with receipts and have brought it in their before with zero issues of them fixing it.Sounds like this lady just didn't want to work that day or do her job. I will be filing a complaint with corporate.

The staff was very helpful, but switching to a scanning sticker rather than the Price sticker with all the specs/info STINKS. I have to take the workers time to get all the prices I need on stones. Going to the website to get info, Menards pops up on my phone now wanting my personal location which leads to other info. Nothing is personal anymore, businesses get your info then it's open wide to the world and sold....we have lost our way on one's personal privacy!

I came in looking for wasp/hornet spray and they were completely out of stock and so was Walmart. The employees seemed really Indifferent and more interested in talking with each other than helping customers.

Very poor customer service by Donna yesterday in returns. She informed me she had been off the clock for 45 minutes???? Maybe that was the reason for the attitude? I have never experienced bad service at this Menards before this.

Nice quick easy there's a lot of people there who simply don't care just want to do their jobs which I get. And it does make it easier when you have somebody help you because they want to get it done just as much if not faster than you do.

Building supply department: if you order building supplies and estimated delivery date is critical for your project, be sure to get confirmation that the order was indeed submitted by the salesperson. Just because your ticket says order will be placed once you pay, don’t bet on it. Too many employees in this department are not adequately trained. From checking stock levels to placing orders to suppliers, don’t rely on them without some verification. On three separate occasions over a two month period, I’ve been burned because I planned on having work done based on “7-10 days” promised by Menards. Special order “contract” with Menards works only one way, and it’s not in your favor.

Love this store. Very helpful staff and always have what I'm looking for. The prices are usually pretty good and the rebate is always a nice plus. The Christmas decorations are always the best variety in town. They have all your home and yard repair and design needs in one stop.

Was curious why this store had such low ratings, seems to have been flooded by anti-maskers who were triggered by a private businesses having health and safely policies in place during a pandemic.Love the mail-in rebates. Never have had a problem with customer service. Cashiers are always friendly to myself and my daughter.

Purchased a garage door that was on backorder Jan of 2022. Delivery was setup but never received it. Customer Service at Menards said the order was marked completed/delivered but never received it. Josh, the Store Manager, refused to issue a refund and waive the $70 restocking fee even though it was their fault. I'm just asking for the refund with the 25% restocking fee waived.

It was ok, usually have what come for. Only thing is when need assistance no one around so gotta walk around looking for someone. Usually they don't know answer to our questions. There is one manager there that does Not like to help customers, always in to much of a hurry and don't want to listen. And one lady at checkouts is so slow, she checks all bills for authenticity and is very slow about it, is irritating when 8n a hurry.

SECOND REVIEW ADDED BELOW 6-23-23While shopping at Menards in Detroit Lakes today, I stopped at the service desk to ask a question. Jackie answered my question yet spoke as if I was bothering her by daring to ask for help. Then I told her that I had forgotten to give my rebate to the cashier and asked how to be able to use it. First she told me to come back another day to use it. I declined because we aren’t near a Menards very often. She said that I’d need to do a return in a checkout aisle in order to use the rebate today. So, following her comment, I got in line in a regular checkout aisle. After a few minutes she came over and told me that she’d help me. At that point I was exasperated and offended by her attitude. We completed the transaction and I left Menards with a very negative feeling. This could have been handled in a way that would not have left me feeling like I was a burden to Jackie. She works in the customer service area; I was a customer that needed setvice. Period. Smile, treat customers with respect, thank them. Find somewhere else to work if customers annoy you, Jackie.6-23-23I made six keys at the Menards key kiosk in Detroit Lakes. After five keys, supposedly the price is half off. I checked my credit card statement after the purchase. Not only was I charged full price for the keys, I was charged an additional $9.00. Alex at the service desk could not have cared less and told me it was not Menards problem that I had been scammed. He was almost annoyed that I was taking up his valuable time. Dan, who works in the back area, took time to try to help resolve the situation although Alex made it clear that it wasn’t going to be corrected. I called my credit card company and the extremely helpful rep removed the fraudulent charge. Beware of this scam that Menards doesn’t care to remedy.6-24-23I have already contacted the general manager yesterday and have not yet received a response.7-1-23No response from general manager after a week since scam occurred in this store.

Went to buy paint today. Customers looking around for help in that department. I saw a gal sitting on the floor in the spray paint area. A lady came over and approached her to ask if the employee could mix paint for them. She begrudgingly said yes. I thought forget paint here! When I checked out the checker was not very informative about the rebate or friendly. Where is their supervisor? Menards will lose my business if that type of service keeps up.

I was from out of town helping my mom with some home improvement projects. We went to the Detroit Lakes Menards for supplies. The customer service was amazing! I have been in retail for years myself and know how important it is to the business to have employees who are kind, friendly, and will go the extra mile to help a customer. Donna, Paul, and a young man in building supplies (didn’t catch his name) were so helpful. You don’t find people like them very often nowadays. You guys are awesome! Thank you!!!

This Menards store in Detroit Lakes MN is by far the best store around! Excellent customer service, very knowledgeable staff, the store is clean and organized and the General Manager (Josh) goes above and beyond! I would give this store 10 stars if I could. Assistant GM Mike, Marty, Logan, Aaron are also amazing. Stacey at the cabinet desk is extremely knowledgeable. This store blows me away, highly recommend!

I understand people's concern with wearing masks. I personally never did because I felt as if it was taking my freedom away. I went into menards with no mask on and they were so rude demanding I had to wear one and if I didn't have one they would provide one for me and I would have to pay $0.43 for it! No other stores charged for there masks or enforced it so rudely. They have lost a lot of my business.

We special order from time to time, however one thing is consistent. The special order department has yet to find our order with any professionalism. It always takes longer than it should. It looks like chaos in the department and they definitely are not happy people. I will think twice before special ordering again.

Had everything we were looking for. Workers were very helpful & informed.Here it is 2022 & unfortuneatelyI only had one positive encounter & that was with a young man "Mark". He worked in lighting & was ver knowledgeable about security lights, solar lights & motion detection! He took time to line me up with the right bulbs to use in the fixtures I purchased & pros & cons of the ones I had planned on purchasing.Not as lucky in the paint/stain department. The stain I was talked into was NOT the type i needed for my deck. I am thoroughly disappointed with the 2 of them in that department.i wouldnt hv been able to finish even 1/2 my deck with the wood stain they sold me!

The absolute only thing I would change with my experience is Menards needs more checkers! I don't believe I've ever been there without having at least 2 people in front of me. I adore Lori and love chatting it up with her.

As a former employee I know how they work on the inside, they genuinely cared for there employees and we all enjoyed helping customers, only problem is guests would ask the carry-outs or cashiers where a specific item is we would attempt to help but we stayed at the front at a register or running carts in from outside. If you have a question look for the department and ask the people who work in that department, I mean if you ask a contractor an electricians question he probably won't know. Main thing is they're understaffed but they work as hard as possible to help everyone they meet... I realize it sounds like I'm trying to help them with this but I mean seriously the things your complaining about... they don't send a semi truck with 1 item they send it with many that's why special orders take so long.
