i go here every once in awhile to visit the kitties and puppies and the other day me and my mother went and noticed a kitty wasn’t doing so well, we were quick to talk to staff and tell them what we observed, one of the staff then got the director (Ana i think) and as soon as she came up the stairs she started snapping at us like we had done something wrong. it was very unprofessional and unneeded. the cat looked to have probably been in that state for awhile so it definitely wasn’t anything i may have done. personally i think she should’ve been upset with herself or staff for not noticing that the cat was in discomfort earlier. just super unprofessional and made me not want to come back. i love spending time with the animals but if im gonna be snapped at like that, especially by the OWNER i simply don’t want to go back. i just feel as if an apology is needed. very ridiculous.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating, able to answer any questions we had. They properly socialize the animals and gave us blankets, treats, toys, and some food to go along with the cat we adopted.Unfortunately, they were either extremely ignorant or intentionally deceptive when informing us about the cat we adopted. He has cerebellar hypoplasia, they said it was just a "little wobble" from his polydactyly. He has feline herpesvirus (a lifelong respiratory condition), they said it was a "little cold" that was already getting better. They said he has no other medical issues... but he has extra canines that will eventually need to be removed. We will keep and take good care of our new cat, and we're willing to deal with his medical issues. But not everyone is. Be wary of the information you receive about your new pet, it may be very inaccurate. It's possible that the staff never took our cat to the vet, and just relied on what they heard from whoever gave them the cat.

Could not be happier that we ended up getting our lovely pup from this shelter, but the process was sloppy and unprofessional. It took over a month for them to get back to us about our application and let us know we had been accepted. Then, when his neutering was postponed due to weather, I asked and was told that we would be called when they knew what day he would be going in. Instead, they emailed me the day he was neutered to let me know we could pick him up the next day. We had nothing ready and were caught off guard. Luckily, we could make plans to pick him up that weekend. When we did finally make it out to the shelter (an hour and a half drive), they acted like they didn't know we were coming, they didn't have any paperwork ready, and when my boyfriend asked who to make the check out to, they weren't sure. They also did not microchip our pup and offered to do it quick when we were there, though they weren't sure if they had any microchips on hand. We were so turned off by the shelter that we did not get him microchipped there, for fear it could be done incorrectly or he could develop some sort of problems from it. Also in the shelter, from what we could see, it wasn't well kept. We didn't see the kennels in the back, but there were cats all along the lobby wall and one dog in a kennel by the front door, with a puddle of pee on the floor by the kennel.Honestly, I am so glad our pup was fostered in a household before we got him, because I would not have wanted him in that shelter for a moment.

This is a great place to adopt a pet and it’s getting better by the day! Also a great place to become a volunteer or and/or a home-foster!You can even get involved by joining the Board of Directors if you have a strong interest.

I'm looking for my best friend Baxter who is a American Terrier Pitbull/Boxer, should be around 3-4 years old, short-haired brown and white fur.I called in August 2020 and was told by a female worker he was placed into this shelter and then he was placed with another family.I don't know if he was renamed or not, he does and should still answer to Baxter.I've got a couple years video's and photo's of Baxter as proof of being a previous caretaker of Baxter. As of January 2021, I would like to be reunited and have Baxter returned to me, I have his photo above as my profile picture and I've left my new phone number with the Shelter. I miss this good boy and his big puppy-dog-eyes and can accommodate him in areas that allow Pitbull breeds.

I’ve been there a few times for community service and some of you might say it’s inhumane to have them in cages along the wall, trust me they get their play time every day and ppl like me show up and help. each cage isn’t just a cage it’s literally their home until they are adopted. It’s like kitty juvie, not inhumane just waiting on mom, same with the dogs. They do a lot of good work there and they deserve a little more credit for the work they do.

I adopted a sweet kitty from this humane society only to find out she had two highly contagious viral infections. One was feline URI (Upper respiratory infection) and the other is conjunctivitis (a type of feline herpes) both of these are permanent diseases that you must maintain with expensive medication their entire life, highly contagious and has now infected my other cat at home. Most of the cats at the humane society had gunk in their eyes and I passed it of as just being the outcome of having so many cats to care for. The truth is they are ALL infected (not my opinion but what my vet at animal kindness in grand forks stated) and if you adopt a cat from there you will have very expensive vet bills and put any other animals you have at home at great risk. I believe it is their job to get checkups on these animals and quarantine any that may be sick or a threat to the rest. They have failed to do so, they wonder the building freely and a large portion are kept in one room. Please be careful adopting from this place. Look out for your loved and healthy ones at home. It's too late for mine, please don't make the same mistake.
