On a trip to the Iron Range we stopped at Wilbert initially for lunch. This has been a staple of what I call the South Range for 101 years which is quite an accomplishment. Had their homemade meat loaf and mashed potatoes. In addition the meal included corn and a white roll. Was everything you look for regarding good comfort food. For an appetizer started things off with a delicious cup of the Wilbert hamburger and cabbage soup that really hit the spot. My girlfriend had a side salad with their grilled hamburger which she said was very good. On a side note, since we had a nice lunch, on the way back we returned for dinner. Had a pasty which is a pastry filled with meat, onions, potatoes, carrots and rutabaga. Pasties are a staple of the Iron Range and the taste was fantastic. Only slight complaint was the outer crust edge was so hard you couldn't eat it. My girlfriend had their chicken tenders with fries and a cup of the hamburger cabbage soup which were all very tasty. Easy parking leading right up to the building. Service was excellent from both our lunch and dinner waitresses. Highly recommend Wilbert Cafe for anyone driving up highway 53 to and from the Iron Range.

Lovely little hometown style cafe. They were busy, the food was fresh and hot. Definitely will stop again on our way through! I had the wild rice sausage breakfast and it was great 😋

What a “sleeper”! More extensive menu than what you’d think. Food is homemade and tasty! Been out in the sax Zim Bog photographing birds all day so I have eaten a tire and been happy but what a pleasant surprise this place is. Got the pickle fries, hamburger steak dinner and Dutch apple pie. And they know how to make iced tea! Highly recommend this place!!

I met up with a friend at the café for lunch on a Tuesday not long ago. There was a decent crowd in the restaurant, enough to know it does good business but not busy to impact your time there. The waitress was very friendly and got my drink order and kept them filled until my friend showed. Once my friend showed, she was good to keep things moving but not pushy at all. I got a Frisco melt and it was great. Excellent taste, good serving size, good price, etc. I will definitely go back again.Parking: Good amount of parking available right out front.

The good - the food was delicious. The service was friendly and fast. They seemed well staffed.The bad - the wait was an hour and ten minutes for our food. We were warned there would be a wait, but that was unexpectedly long. One kitchen serves two restaurants so their capacity to get the food out sooner is limited. We were there at 12:30pm on a Saturday.

This is a lovely little restaurant with a huge menu and high quality food items. Also, the prices are extremely reasonable. I've been birding at the bog for the past week and coming here for frequent meals. Every meal I've had has been fabulous. The fried chicken is especially fantastic. It's the crispiest, tastiest fried chicken I've ever had. I also enjoy their BLT, and their Wilbert burger. Highly recommended. And the staff is amazing.

Seems all the locals know this place, I am so happy I decided to give this place a shot. I've been back 2 more times already and this place does not disappoint. Its almost like stepping back in time where its easy to make conversation with other patrons and all the waitresses make you feel like home. Then there is the food, a big selection of breakfast lunch and dinner, and you can get a late breakfast here. I ordered my fav. Country fried steak and eggs and had the chance to compare it to a high end restaurant in Duluth. The steak is better, bigger and superior in every way. They must do their own hand breading because it was unique and delicious. Now for the best part, I've had a lot of pies far and wide. This place takes the cake. You simply must go here to eat the pie! You'll thank me later.

This is a very nice Bar and dining area. The service is great they do a great job of keeping the place clean . There is a bartender named AprilAnd she is pretty cool. Tell her Hi from Paul and Lyle.She might be able to hook up pretty good on a nice strong drink. So if you're ever up in the neck of the woods please check this place out.Parking: Parking in the front and parking in the backKid-friendliness: Some places may frown upon Children being in a bar in this place it's a family friendly establishmenthat goes all out for the entire family.Wheelchair accessibility: I am not 100% that this place is wheelchair accessible but I do believe that there is no step up on the entry way so a wheelchair can be pushed into the establishment..
