First time here for me. I picked for three hours and found dozens of small agates. Becky and the kids are super friendly and helpful. This is an easy, user-friendly place for any experience level, ideal for groups or families with different interest levels. Besides agates, the rock piles are a limitless mix of many rock types typical of glacial deposits in the Lake Superior basin. Be sure to use the supplied water hose to wash your spot of silt and soil to uncover the agates that are right between your feet. Give Get Pickin a try!

Absolutely love that this place is available for people who love to rock hunt. My husband and I spent about two hours digging around in the various sized rock piles and left with some beauties! The owners were great and do their best to help everyone that comes find something beautiful to take home. They are knowledgeable about the types of rocks, crystals and minerals that can be found in the area. They spend time with you getting to know what you are looking for and will help you identify items you find. For those that are looking to find agates this is your best bet. It is easier to find these at Get Pickin than combing the lakeshores. The owners offer a bag for your treasures as well as water and shovels to help you find those pretty treasures you are searching for. In my opinion is was $10 well spent and definitely will make it a place we always stop when we visit that area!

Perfect place to stop with the kids to do some rock picking. The owners are very polite and informative. He shared many facts about the rocks we were finding. I found 2 myself and the gentleman that runs it found 5 and just gave them to us. Bring your own tools! Little spade shovel is a plus. Dress to get dirty!

This place is a blast! I wasn’t sure about going here, since it’s free to go to Lake Superior and look for rocks on the beach. After doing that, and finding almost nothing because I don’t know what to look for… we came to Get Pickin. Becky was so nice and helpful - taught us what to look for - helped us figure out what we’d picked up. It was an total blast. Absolutely recommend. We came basically entirely unprepared. They provide a hose, cute cloth rock bags, and a few tools.Seriously - going here is totally worth the money. It isn’t just the rocks that make this place worth the visit - it’s the fact that the family here will teach you what to look for so you can find the rocks. Also, these rocks were way better than the ones on the beach!

Had a really good time with Becky and her husband. Love the entire concept of the business. They were knowledgeable and helpful and also left you to yourself to peruse the gravel. We were there the same morning they received a delivery of fresh rock which was a bonus. Found a gorgeous nodule in their older pile of bigger rock and was really excited. Totally worth it, especially if you don’t know where to go in the area.

Definitely not worth $15 per person. Go enjoy nature’s beauty along the shore for free vs this roadside rock pile. We paid $30 for my wife and son to pick. I was walking our dog. The owner scolded me for picking up a rock. Here’s your view.

Cheap prices, nice owner! We picked for about 2 hours and didn't find a while lot, but some agates. We then paid 10 bucks for 10-5 gallon buckets of gravel for my wife's garden. We'll be back for sure 👍

Took the whole family here and had a blast! Found BAGs full of agates, big and small. Great for rock hunters of all ages. Bring a spare set of clothes. They have a hose and it's better than any spray bottle you're going to take so just share the hose.

My 9 year old was in heaven for nearly two hours. I brought a chair to sit back and chill but I spent most of the time picking through the rocks as well. We came home with a bunch of nice large agates and even some beautiful stromatolites. The owner was attentive and very helpful in helping him make some wonderful discoveries.

Friendly, low key, helpful. Great safe place to look through rocks. Came away with a bag of agates, jasper, quartz, and other interesting looking rocks. Nice for advanced rock hounds or those just curious. Will be back soon!

This place is so much fun you literally get to get pic and there are piles and piles and piles of all different rocks they’re loaded up onto this woman’s property and she is bandit out in a way where she can tell you what your choices are for I get size and what your reliability will be dependent on where you’re standing she also does hosing off on hot days so you don’t get any of that grit that makes Jasper look like the find of a century. This is a one family owned business woman and her husband on it and it’s just amazing for all the rockhounds out in the world are you able to just go and know…. Get going to git picken

My husband and I took our 2 girls here ages 6 & 9, and we had the best time! They loved looking for cool rocks, and the owner was there to help us and answer all our questions. I would highly recommend Get Pickin for a fun outing... especially if you love rocks.

Amazing experience! Becky was awesome. She educated us about all the different rocks and agates we might find and helped us find some. She was extremely warm, friendly and inviting. It felt more like visiting a friend than a business. She has created an exceptionally welcoming atmosphere and We really appreciated having a safe outdoor, socially distanced activity to do with our family and were grateful that she was following guidelines and using a mask when 6ft of distance wasn't possible.

We just got back into agate hunting (along with other interesting rocks) and found Get Pickin online. Spent about an hour there and found a decent amount of treasures! The host was very knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, and helpful! Well worth the money for us!

I would give 10 stars if possible. The owners are amazing and very friendly. It is a great activity for all ages. We will be back! So worth the 2 hour drive for us.

Well worth $10 and the trip to the Duluth area! We left with a whole bag of agates. We had our dog and the owners were extremely hospitable and very welcoming. They were more than happy to spend time with us on the rock piles and they gave us the agates they found with us. I was worried this would be a tourist scam and it was far from it!! This place needs to be added to your summer bucket list!

My wife found this place and we went here on a whim last weekend and it was an amazing way to spend the morning. Family run, incredibly friendly, very helpful. We brought our one-and-a-half year old and she had a total blast digging in the rock piles and hanging out with the chickens in the yard. Absolutely would go back again, definitely would recommend for a fun family activity.

This was our last stop before heading back to Indiana, however it should have been our first stop!!! If your a rock hounds like us you will have a blast! Beautiful specimens! Owners are very knowledgeable and helpful. Plan to spend the day here, you wont want to leave!P.S. the little rock hound will amaze you she has the eye for agates!!

Owner so sweet and helpful- genius idea for a business - Lake superior agates are very difficult to find around duluth area so this was totally worth it! We stayed for hours looking! You can look all day. Owner finds agates in the gravel and hands them to you. She really wants you to find them! Tough to fill up a bag- takes hard work and time and dedication. Also, I got really dirty. Used hose to wash off rocks- so muddy! Dress in clothes and shoes you don't care about. But luckily mud washes off : )

My daughter and I visited in July from Kansas. This was our favorite outing! Owner was very friendly and informative. She even helped us out with an amethyst! My daughter found a beautiful agate! Would LOVE to go back!

Great place to find agates! Owner helped us look for them and gave tips on how to spot them, as well as letting us keep the agates he found.For $25, me and my husband to spend almost 3.5 hours hunting for agates :) You will definitely get dirty, so wear clothes you're okay with getting a little muddy. Also, bring a spade!

My fiancé and I just left here absolutely amazing!!! It’s definitely worth the trip and worth the 10 dollars for the bag. Got some amazing agates. The owner and his wife are super nice and very helpful with finding some agates. Definitely worth the trip for the whole family.
