Kinda a love hate relationship. Got to say the old fashioned way things r run it's kinda a great way to do it. The owners work along side of the employees and that says a lot honestly. The owners are not afraid to get their hands dirty I admire that very much. They work hard and are actually good hearted people. It's the recipe to a successful business and I hope they continue to be that and more each and every day. They truly deserve it.

This place is located between Brainerd and Walker, MN, in Backus.. It's a one stop shop. Better than Bucky's if you are familiar with them. GODFREY'S, is a customer of mine(URSA ENTERPRISES). They have an array of thermal insulated, tumblers, mugs and water bottles. They carry groceries, household items, brand name clothing, rentals on equipment, ice houses, fishing and hunting licenses. Plus all the gear you need for both. Also, a gas station. This trip was a girl's shopping trip. I bought a couple pair of warm winter socks. They had a pink design deer 🦌. It's a great place to stop.

Nice little small town grocery store / everything else you might need type of place. Pricing on food seemed pretty good. Was impressed to see that they carry craven and a few other brands that wouldn't expect. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They still do the whole take your groceries out to your car for you service, which is pretty rare these days.

This place is awesome for a store near my cabin. They have groceries, large hardware store, lots of fishing gear and bait, gas, and they rent equipment. Can't ask for much more

We stayed at Ponto Lake for a 5 day trip and this was our go-to stop! Great service and staff, and they have pretty much anything you need including gas, food, medicine, fishing and hardware supplies. Some reviews say prices are a bit high, but I don't agree. Some prices were only a fraction higher than our home store and others were actually lower! I would recommend Godfrey's 100 times over!

I like the fact Godfrey's is a blend of grocery and hardware. For example, picked up a head of lettuce and a quart of minwax gel stain. Could have gotten gasoline at a reasonable price. On the flip side I looked for a particular yogurt. They didn't have it. I looked for a particular brand of stain based on a manufacturer's retailer list. Nada. Didn't have that. Neither were a deal breaker. Just nice we don't have to drive to Brainerd/Baxter every time we need something. This still holds true. 2/24/24

Rental experience was poor. The hydraulic hose blew off at the crimp. Took the hose to NAPA where I was informed the hose was not crimped properly. Godfrey's took no responsibility and wouldn't reimburse the cost of the new hose. The exchange was rude and dismissive. Never going back.

Godfrey's is an all in 1 store. They have just about anything you need for your home and yard at very competitive prices, and great sales every week. They have all your hunting and fishing gear, boating supplies, a great live bait selection and their worms are fat and active. Get gas, fill your propane tank, buy a bbq a fishing/hunting licence, rent a tractor and get some excellent fresh baked goods or a variety or meat sticks made in-house. Fast and Friendly service.

Amazing store. Great help, friendly helpful. And they will do their best to find you anything you are looking for. And if they don't have it they can order it for you. I just love that store. And did I mention it's a one stop shop.

You need it? They got it. A great selection of groceries, hardware and equipment rentals; along with gas for your vehicles and propane, as well. Think of the old-time general store. Godfrey's is a regional treasure. Life in the area would be much more difficult without Godfrey's!

Friendly faces and they literally have anything you need here. Fishing, hunting, hardware? You can find it! Nice meat selection as well.Their bait selection is very nice as well.This really is a one stop shop if you are in the area.

Sat for 20 minutes waiting in line for gas while customers were in the store shopping. Called and was told excuse me, sorry there's nothing I can do. I'm a local year round customer...Sadly, they've lost me.

We were camping and fishing nearby. We had to stop in on two separate occasions for gear and groceries. They had everything we needed, and we couldn't help but walk out with a few things extra. Easy access right on the highway. Nice clean store with a friendly staff.

Groceries, hardware, housewares, sporting goods, bait, clothing, equipment rental, gas and propane all in a tiny town close to nowhere. Selection is adequate, but considering the location it is surprisingly good. Prices are good especially considering how much a trip to Brainerd costs. I get a lot of stuff there. It is 9 miles from my cabin and I love having it there just in case. The hours are good too.

Once again I need something that I thought I needed Baxter for and I was wrong. They had screws and other accessories I could not find at Menards, Home Depot or Lowes.Plus their bait is lively and talks to the fish in the local area. I'm glad we are only 1.5 from them. Happy Easter to all the Godfreys family.

Great hours, including for hardware. Good selection. Attentive staff. Gas prices usually at least a dime below Hackensack and 20-30 below Walker, and Brainerd. Shop their grocery specials.
