This cat adoption place is the best. Cats that don't object to others are left free to wander. Younger cats/kittens are left to wander in age appropriate groups. There's no litter smell and all the human occupants of the facility seem to be very happy with their feline bosses. Neutered animals are 50.00 or 75.00 for two and they have a waiting list for cats to come and live there. We have 4 from this facility and they are happy, healthy, social...

I had just lost a fur-baby recently and wanted to adopt a companion for my 2 year old rescue cat. The Mower County Humane Society was amazing! The staff was so helpful and informative on their cats. They are the reason that I now have the most precious black kitty, Aleah, in our family. Thank you so much!!!

The volunteers here are very kind and make sure that all animals are given attention, fed, and taken care of accordingly. They even remember their names and personal quirks/characteristics without having a cheat sheet. :) The animals also have a lot of enrichment. Wonderful place.

We adopted our little Chiweenie mix puppy, Chico, from this location and he is such a good boy! We could tell the staff was working hard to get him potty trained because even at our home now, he is very good about going to the door when he needs to use the bathroom. The staff seemed very attentive and accommodating to our needs and concerns. You can tell the animals here do recieve proper attention and loving from their caregivers!

Found a companion for our 3 1/2 year old. Everyone was fantastic, while short staffed they patiently helped us find the perfect match, giving us the time we needed, assessing and carefully paying attention to detail in what we were looking for. Couldn't be happier to welcome Dennis into his forever home!!!

I got a kitten from here around 1 to 1 1/2 years ago. I naded her neko. She had a little trouble getting use to not being around her brother and she is still scared of cars but her personality blossomed in a week and now she is loving it here. She was already neutered and had all of her vet visits up to date. She was so skinny when we got her but now she is healthy weight. I believe the only reason she was so skinny was because or the other kittens when I meet her she was getting pushed around and I believe the other kittens ate the food before she got a chance. Anyway she was the perfect cat for me and I am thankful I went here to get her.

My boyfriend and I had a very friendly younger Rottweiler. Unfortunately with a new baby, and our increasing long work hours, we felt like he wasn’t getting the attention he deserved and needed. It took us some time, but eventually we knew it was best for him to go to a more proper home. We were devestated and nervous at the same time. I just want to thank the humane society (and especially Carey, who I had contacted months ago) for being understanding and finding him the forever home he deserved. I saw the post on Facebook with the new owners, they look like lovely new companions and I love the fact that he has a little brother (maybe older?) but still smaller. Thanks again!

Very very poor keepet place. I feel sorry for the pets that are there. It's only open 2-3 times a week if that. The animals are poorly taken care of No one cleans them, they don't take the dogs out side to do there thing I was there and someone brought this very nice dog out to see and not long after he peed on the rug and the people there say they all go there then why not take that rug out throw it away and the dogs are mostly in cages so why couldn't this person take the dog out side first to pee be for showing it and by the way it looks the dog don't go out side much and they wonder why the dog are the way they are, let them out side for most of day poor things need to out side more to run and play. This place is very bad not fit to keep animals in.

I wish I could do more for them, I volunteer here and the reviews that say they don't take them out we do! Some aren't potty trained but there all super sweet dogs but I cant say anything for cats because I only work with the dogs 🐶🐩 sence I started volunteering here I learned so much and when I grow up more I'm thinking about opening a Humane Society one that looks better and takes better care of them not that they don't but some of the workers don't do much but when I go my group of people want to help more than they can, I adopted a dog from here I loved him with all my heart but he wasn't right with my house hold so I had to take him back which was really hard on me but 1 day after I took him back he went to a family that was right for him, that was almost a year ago and now I think I'm going to try to get another one that is right for me❤

I have always liked the idea of adopting animals. Me and my wife recently adopted, Trevor, a 6 month old kitten from the mower county humane society. Trevor is an awesome cat. However adopting him has turned into a nightmare.Trevor came with a clean bill of health from the humane society, however within a couple of weeks of golden retriever developed sores on his face. When we took him to the vet, turned out he has ring worm. We then took Trevor in and he was who the dog got it from plus Trevor had ear mites. We called to inform the humane society so they could make sure they treated the cats that were in the same room as him, but had to leave a message. When they returned our call, they acted like we should have expected it. Told us we could return him and get a different cat. They then told us it's because Trevor came from the Austin PD and they don't clean their kennels so most pets that come from them end up with ring worm.So now my wife, my dog, my cat and me have all got ring worm, and so far have spent over $200 in vet bills and treating all of us for ring worm. I feel since they figured he probably would have it since he came from APD that they would have treated him for it before they put him in with other cats, let alone before adopting him out. While Trevor has already made a spot in our hearts and home and we wouldn't let him go. The whole adoption experience has turned into a horrible experience. While I still believe in pet adoption. I do not recommend mower county humane society as the place to adopt anything without taking them to your own vet for check up before completing the adoption.

Carey is great to work and communicate with about the animals she and her team take care of. We drive for two hours to adopt this little bowling ball of energy. They really try to place the animals in the right environment, not just move animals thru the facility.

Anyone complaining about the pet approval process when renting are upset for no reason. If you talk to your landlord previously as anyone that rents and knows you need to follow the appropriate channels to adopt a pet would know. It's their responsibility to make sure these animals find a forever home. If you rent and don't do your job before even looking that's your fault. We talked to our landlord before heading out to MCHS and we caught her again before she left the office for MCHS to talk to her and brought the cat home same day. We weren't even prepared with a carrier because we thought we were just looking and told it would take days for the process. We were approved in minutes because we had followed the proper procedures. All these people complaining probably couldn't have pets anyways. Students are denied because clinicals, classes, homework and work/internships take up too much of your time to give a new pet the attention it needs.Only get a pet if you can truly invest the time and money they need to live happy full lives.Thank you MCHS for making sure these animals find the best forever home and for all you do.

I've been missing my dog for 5 days. Police have no idea where he is.I have messaged mower county humane society on Facebook several times where it will show that they read the message but they never respond. I have messaged them three separate times on three different days. I have tried to go into their shelter but they're open for about 4 hours a week.

There's no one that cares more about the animals in their care than MCHS. The army of volunteers are there 7days a week. Their adoption fees are also the lowest around, $50 for cats, and $125 for dogs.
