Pulled in for a quick overnight stay with our camper and this place is so charming that it made me want to stay for a week. The cabins look nice and the setting is absolutely beautiful. Front office reminds me of an old diner with cute branded coffee mugs, tshirts, and more. Can't wait to find an excuse to come back here for a longer stay.Don't be put off because you have to call to make your reservation; it's not 'tech friendly' but the service was excellent and accommodating.

This small and peaceful resort was the perfect weekend getaway to relax and take in Mother nature's beauty. There are bikes, kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes to use at no charge. Dean is very friendly and easy to work with. There is a paved bike path right across the highway which we really enjoyed. The town of Ashby is 5 minutes away with a fully stocked grocery store. Although there are close to 30 seasonal campers at the resort, the grounds were clean, quiet, and you feel like you have the place to yourself.Upon leaving we booked for next summer and can't wait to come back.

We just stayed for our annual fishing trip in our travel trailer and it was very easy to get into the spot. Check in was very easy and very helpful in explaining where things were we might need, firewood and such. I did need to use my laptop for some school work while we were there and he was very helpful in getting me set up with that. Thank you.

Not one of the best campgrounds I've been in but it was quite nice and an added bonus to have free access to paddle boards and canoes. Right on a beautiful lake so you can bring your boat. The shower didn't work.

The couple who has been running this place for the last 19 years are great! I'm doing a bike tour so I was looking for tent only camping. They have a biker (cyclist) rate which is always nice. They also keep a log book of all the tourists who come through and offered to help us get a hot meal from town if we wanted it. I love when places are so considerate to cyclist. The beach and dock area was really nice for a post ride swim too.

An awesome Resort/Campground to stay at whether it would be by yourself or with a big group (family reunions). Pelican Lake offers beautiful sunsets from the docks and you also have the opportunity to catch a trophy fish in every species in the lake. There are many reasons why I've been coming back up here for 30 years, I highly recommend Ashby Resort/Campground!

Cabin was dirty and worn down. Rips in carpet, torn laminate floor, dirty carpets, and when we pulled out the sleeper couch for bed we were disgusted to find candy wrappers, food crumbs, and toys in the bed. We told the owner, who did nothing to make it better, no apology and didn’t’ even come clean it up. Essentially no attempt to make it right at all, so one of us had no where to sleep. Owner told us he would give the feedback to his staff and left it at that. We decided to leave early and asked for a refund for one night. The owner denied. Cross this place off your list.

Wife called to reserve a camper site for a weekend for a friends birthday. Ended up with what I assume is a "tent" site, considering there was no 30 or 50 amp camper hookup. When we checked in Friday evening, there was no mention of power being low amperage...even after chatting about "how warm and sweaty" it was outside. We tripped our breaker, and had to go ask where the reset was. Owner told us where it was, and then mentioned "oh yeah...you wont be able to run a ac unit off that site, you'll blow the breaker every time!". Not sure if it was lack of communication when booking the site or if we were taken advantage of...regardless we stayed the weekend. We had site D, which was a beautiful site on the lake with great views, I just wish they would have had proper power for hooking up a camper/RV...or asked what we planned on staying in so we didn't have a disappointing experience. Sells wood for $10 per wheelbarrow, also has ice and what looked like a mini convenience store for essentials. Ashby is ~2 miles and had a grocery store. Overall was a good weekend minus the power issue.

We have been coming to Ashby Resort for several years and loved previous owners. New owner did not keep bathroom/shower clean, no paper towels or hand soap for two days, garbage overflowing. No more ice cream in the office and $10.00 a night for dogs. Sadly will not be returning.

I had the worst experience here while passing through two years ago on a cross country cycling trip. I stopped for a breather, some water, and a quick snack in the empty picnic table area. There wasn't much going on (as I recall someone was either loading or unloading his boat at the ramp). As I looked around I considered stopping for the night, but before I could finish my Clif bar the owner/manager came storming out of the office like a deranged lunatic and chased me off the property.I was fully outfitted for a cycling trip, I'm well mannered, kind hearted, and well spoken; yet for some reason this man decided to scare me away from what appeared to be a completely vacant campground and "resort" facility. I use the word resort loosely since it really just looks like a mix between a park with a boat ramp and maybe a kids summer camp.I hope if you choose to stay at this place, you have a better experience than I did.P.S. The rest of my roughly 4000 mile trip was incredible and without incident. I highly recommend cycling across America to anyone and everyone I meet. I met some amazing people and discovered some real gems along the way. Plus I learned a ton about myself and what I'm truly capable of when I put my head down and keep trudging. Best three months of my life, (stopped to visit with friends and family along the path).

In his reply he said the restrooms and showers were not open because of Covid. This was not true. Our group had looked up on the MN Covid site and it said that campgrounds could be completely opened . As far as calling to let campers know that facilities were not available. This is not true either. The popup camper that came the night before we left had no idea there would not be showers or toilets to use. Thankfully they were with a larger group that let them shower in their camper.

Perfect camping destination!I laughed out loud when I read the last review. It certainly isn't a JW Marriot but that isn't what you want when you stay at the lake is it? The water smell is the smell you get from well water and the rates are VERY competitive for such a great spot on a great lake next to the state trail. If your looking for fancy this might not fulfill your needs but if your looking for a Great Lake destination this place is it!

Wonderful and quaint resort, but with all small places come a lack of amenities. Such as, the store being smaller with less items and no bar or place to buy liquor. However, Ashby is less than two miles away so still very convenient.

Clean but out of date and poorly maintained. Visited here in 5/16. Yes, the room and exterior were clean and the owners friendly but the place is in serious need of remodeling. Essentials were sadly lacking, like a comfy mattress (only a double) and hot water--my wife and I ran out of it--OMG--for real! In addition the air conditioner wreaked of smoke and rattled, making sleeping more difficult. The tap water was also very nasty--tasting. The floor tiles had seen their day and a few were broken and missing. Lastly, the shower made such a loud whistling racket, it was hard on the ears and I preferred the cold without noise over the hot with it!!!At a cost of $91 (with tax) you can tell they have no competitors!

Convenient to the Central Lakes Trail for biking! Friendly hosts. We tented two nights. Showers and bathrooms are not real convenient, but they're clean. Significant highway noise.
