Good place. I adopted my baby from here. There is a week trial period to see if it is going to work out. He was doing the butt scooting, and since he was not legally mine, they took care of it. Very caring staff.

Great place to find a cat. Brought home a black and white cat Awdee who I renamed Aimee ☺️. All of the animals need love. I had a great experience with the team and the cost to adopt is much more affordable than going with a breeder or foster pets. Plus it comes with a lot of included extras. In regard to the other comment, I fully support having to pay to surrender your animal. It takes time and money to take care of all the animals. Unfortunately there isn't always space or funding. Hopefully you never have to do that with your pet.but highly recommend finding a lovely pet here.

Lovely bunch of warm-hearted people...brought our rescue dog by and they were thrilled to see her...even made a new dog tag with her new name and my ph# on it...could not have been nicer...

If I could I’d give no stars. I find it unacceptable that this place and all humane societies now charge to surrender a pet. Not to long ago it was a donation and it was optional. Now you want me to pay to surrender a pet (for vet cost) and on top of it you keep the money for rehoming that pet. This is no longer a non profit organization it’s a for profit organization.

I just had to put my 16-year-old thomastown. I've had him since he was 2 years old. Got him from the animal shelter. It's a wonderful place. I've gotten cats and dogs.

Such a blessing to have a shelter in our community that has high standards of care for furbabies. Wish I could adopt all the kitties!

Had so many options for cats!!! All so very sweet and cute. Staff was phenomenal and took care of the animals fantastically! The staff really knew what they were doing and was not scared to step up to people that were out of line with an animal. Thank you Lakes Area Humane Society!!!

I have adopted a couple cats and guinea pigs from here and my daughters and I have volunteered here as well. This is a very well organized facility. They care about the animals and take very good care of them. Anyone would have a good experience adopting an animal from Lakes Area Humane Society.

The staff and volunteers were great when I came in to adopt a dog. And I found one that was a perfect fit for me. They had only had him a very short time. They let me take him home for a few days before the adoption.He had been abused previously, needed a lot of patience and love. Every sound or movement he would tuck his tail and hide. He didn’t like anyone to come near him even. His first instinct was to growl and try to bite. The poor thing. I have had him a little over a year. He is so loving and happy now. Such a snuggler and loves to play. Adopting Bandit was the best decision!

My family has adopted two pets from here, both of them being fairly young one is almost 3 and the other almost one now. They are the best things to ever happen to us. I highly recommend even if you aren't looking to get a pet or you can't because of your living situation or whatever the reason. Just go in and show these animals some love.

All the animals are given the best care, adopting is wayyyy cheaper than purchasing a puppy. The staff is really nice and know the animals and will answer any questions you have. It's no kill and if you volunteer you can walk the dogs and play with the cats to help make sure they get excersize. All in all a great shelter.

My dog flex ran off and I found him here. He was in good hands. They seemed to be very friendly towards the animals and they were very helpful to me as an animal owner as to the questions I had for them.

Had a great visit with a volunteer, who was walking a dog. Dropped off some cat food. We adopted our two cats from them. Thinking about being a volunteer next summer.

Alexandria was by far the most friendly and understanding than any Human Society I have dealt with. I have dealt with Many different ones in our state. But Alexandria communication and professionalism is by far Number 1.
