Well… I guess I will be adding to the trend of one star reviews in recent months. We have been coming here for a few years with both of our dogs. Anything routine seems to go OK. Anything outside of what an average vet tech can handle is a different story. My wife is currently at the vet for our dogs thyroid condition (the reason for the visit). after driving a half hour one way she finds out the test cannot be performed because the lady who sets up the appointments is not educated to let us know that the dog had to fast for 4 to 6 hours before bloodwork. (literally, the “vets” own words are that they are not trained to know that while taking appointments) We were treated as if it was our fault. You mean to tell me that the vet doesn’t have a duty to look over a file for what an animal is coming in for ahead of time and possibly make phone calls if Necessary. Also, this place seems notorious for dismissing genuine concerns and blaming it on textbook conditions. After several visits my wife requested they test her thyroid and of course the number were off. The thyroid medication seemed to be solving many of our dogs problems, including flank alopecia, and energy levels. Her coat was back to normal in a short period of time. They were always quick to dismiss it as normal and tell us there is nothing that can be done about it. They still sold us on her shots today and had to pay for an exam. Of course nobody works for free, but when you’ve blatantly wasted our time you’d think they would’ve offered up a resolution or discount. My wife didn’t have the heart to tell them to pound sand on the yearly shots but I wouldn’t have given them a penny above the exam fee. Time to find a new vet I suppose, this sucks.

$111.00 for a shot and examine. Didn't ask for the exam and it wasn't a full exam. She checked her heart and pet her down. Didn't check her ears, teeth, or paws. We were there month to 3 weeks ago and she had an actual exam then. Wasn't discussed if I wanted an exam nor got a price for it. She just did the exam. I was informed of the heart worm medicine cost. It is mandatory you pay in full yet they don't give you the cost and you spend money you can't afford. She didn't review her last visit and I had to explain that she was the one who asked me to help her lose weight. She was going about helping her with gaining. If you go to their vet expect a minimal of $100.00.She needed her nails trimmed and I was going to ask at the counter., it's $13.But I'm tight on cash this week so the extra $30 was a definite not possible on top of the exam. There was a Dr that she used to see but she is no longer their and this women dosnt seem to care much, just flowing through the motions on auto pilot. They also have her weight wrong, it says 20lbs and she is 18 when she got onto the scale today.

Came here last minute as I couldn’t get into my regular vet is seen dr. Margi and it was a emergency it will be the last time super impersonal all about money….was told AFTER the visit that she was going to prescribe my pet medication then recommended I take my pet to Wilson’s. Because dr margi did it know what was going on which is kind of her job after the testing she perfor And couldn’t answer questions that were extensive…..Wasting my time. My pet is fine and did not need the emergency thankfully. I would not trust dr margi to care for my pet again….scam. 400 dollar vet visit for minimal testing would have been half that at my vet….but beggers can’t be choosers I will say that. Would not recommend. I see this is a pattern based on other reviews for dr Margie…. My advice is to answer questions and show compassion and patience we are pet owners I know my dog was not cheap so him being 3 months old and sick was very scary. I only want the best for him. But I also don’t want to go through a bunch of unnecessary care…. Don’t go here…north river is amazing I have been using them for 3 years never any issues….

On September 26th 2023 I had an appointment with Dr. Mirella Magri concerning my cat Smokey (male cat) urinating everywhere outside of the litter box, which was super unnormal behavior. Smokey was then diagnosed with a UTI and given baytril. They weren't able to get a urinary sample, Dr. Mirella Magri showed no concern regarding not being able to get one from Smokey and prompt me for a checkup in 2 weeks sending me home. I wasn't able to make it to the appointment on Tuesday October 10th so I moved it to October 12th. I arrived to see Dr. Mirella Magri once again. This time they were able to get a urinary test on Smokey. When Dr. Mirella Magri entered the room I heard someone in the back say “change the cat food.” Dr. Mirella Magri said Smokey had crystals she seemed to get annoyed and impatient when I kept on asking questions. I asked how blocked he was? how many crystals there was? Which Dr. Mirella Margri didn't seem to be able to give me any answers. Dr. Mirella then had her hand flat in a chopping motion were animals get examined made a straight line up the table and said “it is a clear line! I can't tell you what to do I'm only here to give you options. You can bring him to Wilson's talk to them about getting the surgery or you could buy the food and medication and take him home and see if he gets better." I was very aggravated but I was more upset at the possibility of having to put my cat down so I didn't challenge the doctor when she made me feel dumb for crying and like she just wanted to get the appointment over with. Since she suggested food and medication I thought that possibly I could make Smokey better so I opted in that option. I was never offered pain medication so the next day I went to work with my cat heavily on my mind I called two doctors within Port Huron and Lexington area. In hopes someone could give me answers that Dr. Mirella seem to not to be able to. The vet at Lexington Veterinary was in surgery but was nice enough to answer the staffs questions I had asked and had them call me back. He stated “your cat should be fine because no respectable vet would send you home with food and medication if he was completely blocked.” It gave me a little bit of hope. On my way home on October 13th I stopped at the Yale vet and asked for wet food with possibility of pain medication. They said they had a wait to talk to the vet since she was on lunch. I returned home to my cat looking like he was in so much pain I felt his bladder which was hard and he hissed at me which was unusual. I packed him up and headed to Wilson's. On my way there I got a call from the veterinarian who is on duty October 13th, she informed me that my best bet would to go to Wilson and not get pain medication because of how many crystals and blockage that my cat had. why didn't I get asked to come back within 24 hours or have them keep my cat overnight? Why didn't a MALE cat who is more prone to getting crystals just get sent home with Baytril with no concern that they couldn't get a urinary sample from didn't raise any red flags? How can a veterinarian be so heartless? That was 17 days that my cat wasn't treated properly that if he was he could have had a fighting chance. This wasn't just a cat this was family. I feel like I let Smokey down because I could have brought him to Memphis veterinary clinic where he got neutered, I feel like he would have had a better fighting chance. Yale Veterinary Hospital let my cat down in the hands ofDr. Mirella MagriPeople will know Smokey's story and will know what happened here because no one should have to go to the vet get misdiagnosed then be treated poorly at the second check up when crying about the news or have to hold their fur child in their hands telling them how much of a good boy they are while they get put down.To my dearest Smokey; if love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.

My dog had new issues and dr Mirella Magri dismissed her new issue she didn’t do any basic testing. So when my dog was vomiting all day I had to take my dog back , second time that day . So when she took my dog’s temperature she rammed the thermometer in her rectum . Very unprofessional. Absolutely NO COMPASSION. Well the next day was Friday and we decided to put are dogs down . And there wasn’t doctor there to do the procedure. What ???? Not going back to dr Magri ever . Very cold hearted.

I was so worried about my cat. He had surgery last night and his incision opened. The procedure was done somewhere else. However, when I told them what happened they advised me what would be best. They offered me the soonest appointments they had available. I live an hour away and so I rushed out there. I was definitely atleast a half hour early. But they definitely accommodated. They checked him over and gave me reassurance. Told me more than the place where we got him neutered and told me how to deal with the after care alot better. If they weren’t so far out I would switch to them immediately! Great friendly staff. I can’t thank them enough for the piece of mind.

No courtesy call when Dr. N is running 1.5 hours behind. No respect for people's time when she's running behind because of her constant chatter. When you realize you're running late you are supposed to monitor your time more efficiently. People don't have all day and we schedule our appointment according to our needs. I will never ever make an appt when Dr. N is there. She is always the one running late. Poor time management skills and terrible communication when they should be calling people to ask if they want to reschedule instead of making them wait unnecessarily, making people late for other pressing things.

I had an urgent matter come up for an end of life situation. I had to put my beautiful fur baby down. I spoke with Laura on the phone and she was able to get my baby in within the hour. They made my fur babies last moments on earth very comforting. They took very good care of my cat and were extremely helpful. I recommend going to this vet for any of your needs. They are all wonderful there.

Vet was very nice. Just make sure you ask them how much something is going to cost you before you let them do it. If I would have known it was going to turn into a $400 trip for my cat's upper respiratory infection, I would have just told them to give me some antibiotics and let us go and we'd see if it helped. Seriously shouldn't cost as much as all that for a CAT

Dr Nordrum has taken care of my 3 almost 20 yr old kitties since they were 6 weeks old. She is caring, considerate, and comforting. When i had to make the choice whether or not to euthanize one of my fur babies, she let me take my time, so that i would be sure it was the best choice i could make. I really appreciate her professionalism as well as her compassion for her patients.

Love the doctor, She is great! But I was charged for a doctor visit today, when I was told three weeks ago that it would be a quick tech visit. My kitten was neutered had an exam and his first set of shots, the next set of shots was set for three weeks, was supposed to be a quick tech visit, but he had a bump so I wanted the doctor to look at him, I had to wait 2 hours for him to see the doctor because he was originally only set for a tech visit!! (so another exam, 2 in three weeks!) This last set of shots was also supposed to be a quick tech visit, get the shots and out (he did just have an exam three weeks ago and was fine, two exams in six weeks!) but no, they decided to charge me for another exam and it cost me $40 just to get his last set of shots! I did not ask for an exam, and was not told they were going to do one until after they did it! Because of al this covid mess most vets aren't taking new patients, so I am stuck being hoodwinked until they do. I should have just taken him to tractor supply for his last set, would have been way cheaper, and they do a great job! it just that it is usually only $15 at the vet to finish off vaccinations, I had no idea they were going to do what they did! Makes me sick to my stomach that they are doing stuff like this to their long time customers now. I just wanted to take care of my fur baby and get his last set of shots, I didn't have that much money on me, we are broke right now I scraped up the $15 that I thought it was going to be, my heart dropped when they said it will be $40 on the phone! Because I didn't have that much, I had to put it on a credit card! Definitely won't be back once I can go somewhere else!

I would never go back to Yale Vet again. I can’t tell you how many times I sat and waited an hour + past my appointment. Then after you have waited an hour they put you in a room and leave you in there another half hour. My dog was having skin problems and they diagnose him as having mange?? The meds they were giving him made him manic and shaking. I quit going there as I never thought he had mange so I took him to imlay city vet Dr Atkins immediate diagnosed him as having seasonal allergies and in a few weeks had his skin cleared up and he was back to normal.

Yale Veterinary Hospital is by far the best Vet! Dr. Nordrum is my absolute favorite. She is so thorough. You never leave having any questions. The staff is amazing. They are so kind and caring whenever I call with any concerns about my fur babies and they always make sure to get us in to be seen. Yale Veterinary Hospital is like a second home and I’m so thankful for my fur babies to be a part of this family!
