I’ve been going to this shelter on random occasions for years now to donate. Every time I am there I am greeted by the volunteers who are all very pleasant. The animals are all very well cared for and are shown lots of love from the people who choose to be there with them. When I am ready to adopt again I will be returning here.

I got my cat Oreo from here a week ago! She's so sweet. All of the volunteers at this adoption center are so nice! You can really tell how much they care about these animals. The adoption counselor Anita was especially helpful during the process for myself. She offered me lots of valuable information and helped match-make me with the perfect little cuddle bug that I've been dreaming of.Also, since the center is non-profit, the adoption fees were not very high, despite Oreo being up-to-date on shots and spayed.

We adopted our sweet senior Helen from Wyandotte Animal Adoption Center last year after seeing her post on Pet Finder. The adoption process started online, carried through to a phone interview where they had the opportunity to share more about Helen’s specific needs, and then a meet and greet with our resident dog to ensure both were comfortable with becoming doggy siblings.I appreciated the thoughtful care and time they dedicated to finding Helen’s ideal match, as she needed a somewhat around the clock care system. They helped set my expectations and home up for success by sharing their findings regarding her likes, habits, and most comfortable preferences. They were truly honest with her needs and life expectancy. The team also raised money for a full dental and senior blood panel diagnostic work up to give me medical information.During Helen’s life, they stayed in touch and followed her online updates by cheering her on. When she was diagnosed with her brain tumor, they sent well wishes and support. When she went to her first Tiger’s game and started her bucket list, they followed her journey: both staff and volunteers. When she eventually passed from her cancer, they all shared how special Helen was to them during her tenure in the shelter under their care. It truly meant a lot and helped us during our initial grieving process. We miss our sweet girl every day, and we are so glad she came into our lives because of the adoption center’s matchmaking. I work with many rescues and shelters, and this is one I recommend often to many!Their care is unmatched when it comes to the adoption process, and enrichment before finding their suitable match while living in their shelter.

If you want to adopt here know that they take no time and interest in meeting you or getting to know you before denying things out of your control. They aren’t looking to find homes for these animals unless you have the perfect answers for everything, everyone who knows me knows how well i treat animals and they wouldn’t even speak to me over the phone or in person before denying these animals a home that would be really great for them. only reason why they are getting 2 stars is i know their intentions are good, but the way they go about the adoption process is just not right. So if you’re looking to adopt, i suggest you look elsewhere, your hopes will get up just to be denied without ever speaking to them.

We put an application in to adopt 2 cat's at pet smart. One was a kitten named Merrick and an 8 year old adult named Wick. They only communicated through email with us. Only to reject the adoption through email without an explanation even after we sent them back an email asking if there was something we could fix or do to help change their mind. And went back to the pet store to see Merrick has been adopted and we understand their might have been more than one of us trying for Merrick. But Wick the 8 year old still sits there in his cage. I have been going to pet smart every day now to see Wick and give him love he knows me when I come in. And he loves on me. But he still sits there. He has been there almost 4 weeks now. Me and my family are very saddened about this situation. My last cat lived 18 years. And was very well taken care of and very loved. I wanted to share some pictures of Wick in hopes he will find a home very very soon😢💔

What a wonderful place! We were able to add Whiskers to our family through WAC. And Anne was so helpful. She was who recommended Whiskers and we wouldn't have even noticed her and now I couldn't 8magine my life without her in it.

These people are absolute angels. We set up a meet and greet and they made sure we had plenty of kitties to be introduced to. They not only helped us meet our newest family member, but they gave us information and took their time making sure we understood our kitties needs and past story. You can tell they really love their animals and want to make sure they are sending them to the most purrfect furever home.

I adopted the sweetest boy from this animal shelter. The volunteers are what really make this place amazing. They make sure that while their past owners have failed them, they still get love, attention, and what they need before these sweet animals go to their forever homes. When I went to adopt my dog, Weeble, all of the volunteers showed up to give him a send off and some cried and it was so touching. They had really gotten to know Weeble and they worked so hard to get him into a good home.I have even kept contact with a couple of the volunteers so they can watch Weeble's progress. If you want to meet the greatest volunteers and adopt from a shelter that truly cares about each and every pet, this is the place to adopt.

They really care about their animals and make sure that each one receives vet care and affection until they find their way home. I have adopted two kitties from there, whom without my home would feel empty.

We tried to adopt a cat, not even a kitten, but a dang cat. The amount of cats and over-crowding, you'd think they'd be a slight bit relaxed at the idea of interest in an adoption. Nope. They put us through the ringer. Found out we lost some of the original records for our dog, a small pug-a-poo, during our move. We had vet records, showing he was current and up to date but his visit was with a mobile vet during one portion of his history and we lost those records. Still had his tags and he is registered with the city, they didn't care and wouldn't let us adopt. It's ridiculous. Seriously. I'm sure they care about animals but I think they put entirely too much stock in their process and paperwork.

The Wyandotte adoption center is so good at matching pets with their people! The center is so clean and the animals are cared for with love.My Partner Matt and I adopted Louis who was a long time resident and needed the right home. Anita knew it would be us. Louis is an incredible boy and we love his energy and curiosity!Three weeks later we went back for Gigi she was a mama who’s kittens were all adopted. Anita knew it would work with Louis. Gigi was quite scared at first but time and space and safety was all she needed! We are so grateful for the work done here so we could adopt of kiddies♥️When you are looking for the right animal dog or cat please go to Wyandotte Adoption Center!

Volunteers working in perfect concert to serve lost and abandoned pets...quick process. Simple to understand. 95$ to adopt a dog who is neutered and has been heartworm tested and vac for rabies. Great experience.

My experience at Wyandotte Animal Adoption Center was an amazing one! The Adoption Counselor, Anita, was very informative about the Adoption process and discussed all the needs of a pet that gets taken home. She clearly expressed how important it is to her in finding the perfect home for each individual pet. We were able to meet our desired pet before taking her home. This was not only to see if the pet was a good fit for us, but to also ensure that we were a good fit for the pet. Wyandotte Animal Adoption Center cares about the safety of each pet. We took home our little sweetie the same day we met her. Anita checked in with us about the kitty's first night at our home and she continues to be in touch for the kitty's sake. I couldn't have asked to work with better people during our Adoption process.

Great organization! If your looking to add to your family with a fur baby I highly recommend the Wyandotte Adoption Center. The adoption process was thorough but smooth. I visited twice and did a meet and greet before the adoption was final. Every time I have been there the volunteers were very kind and you could tell they really love and care for the animals.

I had been looking for a senior dog for quite some time, with little luck. Many of the shelters I had contacted had horrible response time and didn't seem to care much for their work. Wyondotte's volunteer's are caring, responsive, and extremely diligent in finding a good home for these animals. Not only did they respond quickly to my intake but they made sure to call past vets and ensure I would be a proper home for my furry friend. I adopted Patches about 2 months ago now and I could not be more in love. Thank you Wyondotte Animal Shelter for caring about these animals and for matching me with Patches.

The best shelter! The staff is so wonderful and they were so helpful and patient during my search for a new cat to add to my family. They made sure the cat and I were both a perfect fit for each other and truly care about the well being of all the animals there. Thank you for all that you do!

Wyandotte Animal Shelter is amazing! Filled with so many individuals who have a true love and passion for these animals that go above and beyond in their care for them. They even have a medical fund called Pound Pals Downriver in which all donations are put towards providing necessary and typically life saving treatment for the animals that come into their care. These volunteers are doing such critical and vital work for not only these dogs and cats, but for the community as well and they do it all out of the kindness of their hearts. If you are looking to adopt, I would highly recommend Wyandotte Animal Shelter!

This is a very well run, clean and loving adoption centre. We came from Ontario to adopt one of their cats and I must admit that I found it to be clean and full of great volunteers that love the animals that have been put in their care. We had such a great experience and are now going to be putting them at the top of our donation list every year. If you want a good pet from a clean responsible loving shelter this is the place to go. And, of course we can't forget that little Percy is one of the friendliest and loving cats we've ever owned. Highly recommend.

They were terrific to work with. We love our new kitty and she is happy to be with us. Ashley is everything a kitty could be. She loves to play catch and knew how to do it on her own. I would guess someone at the rescue worked with her. Great work getting her ready for adoption. A heartfelt thanks to the volunteers .
