Amazing hardware store and truly so much more. There is a gift shop, tons of electrical and plumbing items and just when I thought they didn't have an item, Josh pointed out a whole other area that had the step ladder that I needed!I stopped in last year for some miscellaneous part that they helped me with and I truly did not take the time to see all that they had to offer. I am glad that I took the time today to check them out. I will be back to do some shopping soon!

By Far the best and most helpful hardware store I have ever been in. They are way ahead of any other hardware store. Family owned and operated by the most knowledgeable, friendly and caring people I have had the pleasure of knowing. John, Patty, Ed and the staff are great. Thanks for being there!

They always have the best solutions to any problems I ever run into with home repairs and they are more than happy to help you find anything your looking for. The prices are better than most hardware stores and if anything does cost more than Lowes or home Depot then it's not by very much and it saves me the long wait in line and having to go deal with all the traffic. I'm glad I have that luxury so thanks for all of the help and convenience your store has given me and my family over the years.

The customer service I receive at Hood's Do-It Best Hardware and Gifts every time I go there is excellent! The store owners and employees couldn't be more kind, courteous, respectful, helpful, and are always happy to find something for you if they don't have it. And what other hardware store can you find butterfly rearing supplies?? If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! Please remember to be respectful to business owners during these difficult times.

Stopped in to buy some "pollinator seedlings" (milkweed, etc). Was surprised at all they had to offer. Exceptional, unique gift shop area! Walked away with paper leaf bags, hard to find seed packets and a birthday gift for my sister...a turquoise and an opalite stone..(she's into healing crystals)! Nice, friendly staff. Noticed they do "sharpening", so when someone asked on Nextdoor today, l recommended Hood's.

I am not much of a gardener, honestly, but I am a science teacher and got into the hobby of raising Monarch caterpillars and releasing the butterflies. There are some supplies that work really well for beginners to start this hobby and Hood's has made it a part of their brand to provide resources and information to people of all skill levels. Every time I go in there, everyone is so nice and accommodating. They have helped me cultivate a wonderful butterfly garden around my house and helped me find supplies to raise butterflies effectively. They also can provide advice for how to garden pesticide-free, which is super important for us butterfly enthusiasts. Big box stores are helpful to a point but Hood's goes out of their way to provide options for its customers and I appreciate that!

I only shop at Hood’s if I need a hardware item or a gardening treasure. They have impeccable service. Very friendly but not overbearing. It’s a truly great business that gives back to the community and also helps out by hosting pet adoption fundraisers and stuff like that. They never make you feel stupid if you don’t totally know what you’re talking about and will offer any assistance you might need, including carrying heavy items out to your car.

Patti is great to work with and if they don't have something they will see if they can order it. I love the way the store supports local initiatives like the butterfly clubs and the high school garden programs.

What a great place. I called to find an item and the girl on the phone went above and beyond to not only find it, but to clarify that it was the right item. Then we came to pick it up and the gentleman that assisted us not only knew the product well, he was friendly and cracked jokes with us. This is why we should all patronize local businesses, you don't get that kind of service at the big box stores. We left really impressed. And their gift selection is the kind that makes me want to shop for myself haha!

Full transparency - I worked at Hood’s throughout school. All these years later (and employed elsewhere), this is still my go-to place. We do not live Downriver anymore but I STILL make trips to my favorite hardware store (and always spend way too much at the gift shop). They have what hardware we need and if they don’t, they order it. I also find the BEST stuff for my garden here. Whenever people ask where I got something, 99% of the time it was from Hood’s. My favorite store owned and staffed by some of my favorite people.

I absolutely love Hood's. The customer service is top notch, the store is well stocked and clean, and they have some hard to find items. They are a great addition to the Downriver community in the heart of Wyandotte, and I will continue to go there for a lot of different household needs.

A great family owned, small town store in the heart of Wyandotte. Fast, friendly service and so knowledgeable. If you have a question about plumbing, electric, gardening, butterflies, etc go to Hood's and you will get an answer. The store is dog friendly too which is another bonus.

Yes, it’s a clean store with decent stock.They tend to chase you around the store. You are not allowed to browse! No less than three people are falling over you to help you. Which isn’t always welcome. You’d think they would want you to browse and spend more than you came in for, this is not the case. They want you in and out.Don’t bring a kid in the store. They are so afraid your kid might break one of their candles for sale.I’m now a very solid Jerry’s Ace customer.

Staff is always helpful and very nice. Very cute little gift shop inside as well with many Michigan products. Awesome place to get supplies for raising butterflies and Patti is very knowledgeable about products that are safe for our pollinators.

I visited the store this week needing some plumbing expertise to solve an issue with a replacement part for heater. John provided a solution but reassembly would not be easy. He quickly came up with another alternative which save me alot of time, money and frustration. Always impressed with their expertise and problem solving. An amazing spot to get all your gardening needs! They have a wide assortment of products for pollinators and even cute decorations for monarch conservation. They also sometimes put on events where they have someone come to educate about butterflies and bring some caterpillars, so make sure to go on Facebook and check that out!

I've been going there for approximately 50 years. Whenever I need some odd part or something or I don't know what to get to fit something, they do . I remember one time ,years ago, one of their staff walked me through changing the bathtub fosset on the phone, and so I was able to do it myself. with their help . This is a fantastic achievement for me, as a widow. Also I prefer to go there because they always understand exactly what I want & within a few minutes, compared to wandering through big stores wondering what a part looks like,that I need to purchase , or which one to get. They always know exactly what I need. Yes they are the best around! Also top of the line in service, courtesy & proprofessionalism ! Thank God !

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, very reasonable repair fees. Took my snow blower in for service a few weeks ago, ended up costing less that estimated. Which was a big relief since it was in pretty bad shape when I dropped it off. On another note, their prices on snow blowers and lawn mowers are usually the same or even less than the big box stores. And Hoods will have it assembled for you when you pick it up!

Super friendly service ordered a Yeti they did not happen to have in the store last Thursday came in this Thursday. Got a call first thing in the morning reminding me my order was in love this place. If you are looking for a unique gift for a party graduation Valentine's Day ect.this is a place to go.
