My recent stay here was nothing short of a delightful surprise that left me absolutely astounded by the exceptional level of friendliness, hospitality, and accommodation provided by the staff, particularly Mikel (sp?) and her mother (unfortunately, did not get her name) at the front desk.Prior to my stay, I noticed that some reviews on here painted the staff in very unkind light. I rarely leave reviews but felt compelled to come on here to express that that was not my experience at all. Kindness begets kindness, and I received nothing short of exceptional hospitality from the front desk team. From the moment I walked into the hotel lobby, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine sense of welcome that set the tone for the entirety of my visit. The staff's commitment to creating a positive experience for their guests was evident in every interaction, making me feel like a truly valued guest throughout my stay.Mikel and her mother deserve an immense round of applause for their remarkable dedication to customer service. They went above and beyond to accommodate my requests, and their willingness to tailor the experience to my needs was truly impressive. They consistently exhibited a level of professionalism and courtesy that is truly commendable. As for the accommodations themselves, it's an Econo Lodge, not a Ritz Carlton. And while the rooms could use some updates, they exceeded my expectations in terms of cleanliness and comfort. In conclusion, my stay here was an experience that exceeded my highest expectations in terms of friendliness, hospitality, and front desk accommodation.

The room is very good size, but very outdated and smells bad. Peeling wallpaper. I could get past all that, but the pull out bed that my kids were supposed to sleep on was awful. The mattress was ripped, metal hanging out and the frame was missing half the supports to hold the mattress up. Made a complaint to the front desk and they didn't seem too concerned. Sent a message to the corporate and got no response. Also paid almost $300 for one night.

Rooms are clean! Dated..needs an upgrade.Beds are firm. Pool wasn't open. Breakfast is not a hot one, choices of small muffins, bagels, fruit loops cereal, apple juice coffee or hot chocolate or tea. There is a restaurant here that didn't seem to open.We had a handicap room toilet was very low to the ground. They did have a pull up bar to pull yourself up off the toilet but definitely Not a handicap grade toilet.

Decided to take a couple day family trip. We all love the UP. We called and set up a reservation for a double queen room , the owner told me 179 a night , when we arrived I went in and confirmed my card for her , plenty of room in the room for our family but needed a roll away bed for the second night, but the room was truly out dated and we had an old fashioned door handle with a key 🔑. On our second morning we went to the continental breakfast and I returned the key and I said I didn’t need a receipt. A few days later I get my charges on the card and it stated for the first night was 249 and for the second night was 285. I’ve tried to call and speak to the owner , left messages after messages for her to call and explain why. And she still has not responded. I would truly never use this place again. Charging 5 star prices for a 2 star hotel.Rooms: Are still from the 80s.Nearby activities: Lake Superior. So beautiful. Munising absolutely wonderfulNoteworthy details: Just truly overpriced for the amenities. The owner is truly uncooperative. Truly sad.

Stayed several weeks ago and we were very happy with our stay! Would definitely stay again. The hotel room and bathroom were spacious. They are not newly renovated but you can see that in the pics. The room was neat and very clean! Staff friendly. Good WiFi. I found the hotel to be homey with its cedar siding and cute areas set up with outdoor furniture for guests to hang out. The main lobby had one of the best souvenir T-shirt selections.Breakfast was an added bonus that I wouldn’t normally expect from an Econo hotel. Besides the basics —cereal, muffins, yogurt, oatmeal— they also had eggs, sausage and ham. Coffee could have been a little stronger, at least that’s how I like. Lol Great value for the area.

Room was okay except the bathroom is in need of updating and remodeling. The air/heat unit is situated in an alcove so wasn’t properly cooling down the room. Plus we we’re expecting a pool as AAA lists it has one. Very disappointed to find it had been closed down some time ago. Quiet and convenient location. Staff was very nice and helpful.

All the metal fixtures in the bathroom (towel bars, shower curtain bar, TP dispenser) were rusty. The shower surround had been painted and the paint was peeling off. There was dust on the floor behind furniture. Breakfast was not worth the walk across the parking lot. Oh, and anything you see that says there's a pool is incorrect. Aside from that it was fine. Life's short. Spend the extra 20 bucks and stay in a clean motel.

Terrible experience for such a high priced room. Plumbing could use some work. If their pool was open I can see charging $250 a night for the location that it’s in. They charged us twice and argued that they didn’t, now 3 days later they charge a 3rd time for a total of over $700 taken from my account…for one night! Still arguing with us rather than trying to make it right. We won’t be staying again

The only good thing was its a close town to Picture rocks. Runned down hotel and you have to ring a door bell to get checked in. Rooms are dated and old. Not worth the price at all but the front desk lady was super nice and even had maps of things to do in the area which was helpful.Nearby activities: Picture Rock.

We should have checked the room before we checked in. Pool and hot tub are more working with no water in them. They’re apparently waiting for parts to come in? Horrible odor in the room. Floor is so dirty. Windows and walls were chipping off. One window has a partial opener and the other one has a hole as to where one was. Beds are hard. The exterior hotel door lock was gone so anyone can come in. I do not feel safe staying here and it’s so dirty. Also you have to walk from a separate building to get breakfast at the other building. There’s no welcome book or menus recommending any places to eat around there. Microwave is ancient. Fridge is dirty. The TV went crazy and we weren’t even touching the remote. It also wouldn’t let you take off the subtitles. The walls are thin and you can hear every person’s movements. If we saw our room before we checked in we would have 100% stayed at a different hotel. The desk clerk also tried to charge us for two rooms when we only needed one. The website even said we only booked one room but they tried to charge us for two. We had to make some calls so we wouldn’t get charged for two rooms. It’s not a welcoming place or comfortable. Barely any decorations in the rooms. Only bright sides are that the shower had hot water, the AC worked, and no bed bugs. I do not recommend staying at this hotel and don’t let the pictures fool you.

Large room, older, but clean. There's no pool or hot tub here, that room is all sealed up with tarp. Room lighting is dim but the lights in the vanity/closet area and bath are very bright. My curtains would not close at the top, missing the last right center pin. I had to climb on a chair to latch it to a left side pin then open from side in the morning instead of center. The table is wobbly but the chairs were sturdy. It was hard to turn off the shower, had to try many times to get it nearly full off, still drips. The bed was comfy. Breakfast building is a pretty far walk so I drove there. Limited breakfast items, mostly bread: biscuits and muffins, bagels, toast, cupcake muffins. They also had 2 sugary cereals, boiled eggs and apples. Good fridge with nice freezer section. Heater/ac has constant fan to drown out noise. M-28 Road is under construction, yesterday it was one way flagged entrance so expect delays getting to/from hotel.

Although the AC works very well their page lied. They have no pool, nor a hot tub, called before booking and was told there was one but when I arrived they said it’s been closed for over a year! Our fridge looks like it was never cleaned came in and Ice cream was in it. No ice bucket to get ice, no couch, pictures are not what they seemed. Very dissatisfied!

Rooms were clean and well kept, Beds were a little hard but not too bad (there are comforters in the closet if you get cold at night). We only stayed for one night but it wasn't bad at all. The pool was broken but we were told that prior to making the reservation, there is breakfast included which included assorted danishes, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, and oatmeal. Even though it was small it was good quality food. The walls are thin but other than that it was fine. I would have absolutely no problem staying here again.

Room was clean. Fridge was cold. AC worked (down button missing, used an ink pen to reach far enough in to push adjust temp)Function of everything in the room was good. Could use updating, but not terrible.Pool is in long term closure. Restaurant is not operating.Breakfast was asked about in detail, at booking. Was assured hot breakfast was a complete meal, including a meat. So I was very disappointed to find only the fake scrambled eggs the first morning. This morning, the second in a three night stay, the eggs aren't even there. Maybe raisin bran is their idea of a whole meal, and toast is the hot part.$615 for three nights, and their breakfast offerings are continental. .This place should be considered only a last resort, when there's no other options. (Ours were limited, and now know why this place had vacancy).Price doesn't reflect the level of service. And I'm not a demanding person. I've stayed in some dives, but the price reflected what to expect.Having a hard time deciding on staying this last night. This review is helping me make up my mind.

It’s without a doubt the worst stay we have had. Filthy rooms, cold breakfast and water downed coffee. We booked expecting the pool in the pictures was told it’s been closed for 3 years. We got charged two card authorization fees for over the amount of stay? For the first night I was told it was pending and would go away I trust the guy and was still charged wrong for what we booked. They had no plans of fixing it. When I brought up the bugs in the shower and hotel I was told “we are in the woods” . We have asked to talk to the manager we booked with several times and was told she had other things to take care of even when we were told times to come back to talk to her. When we finally got to someone she said she was gonna refund us for our last night and we could have checked out? Like we are 4 states away from home how would that have helped us at 4pm in the afternoon. Sounded like she was just gonna tell us we could leave if we didn’t like it. The service was awful from start to finish. If I could rate a zero I would.

This hotel must not have been updated since 1970. The bed's were uncomfortable and the blankets felt short. The bathroom has cracked plaster/drywall in a few different locations as well as the light fixture with rust stains underneath it. The mirror was also very old and gross. The AC unit in the room didn't feel like it was changing the temperature even after having it on for a few hours. The pool was closed on our visit and ALL of the breakfast was cold even the stuff they had just brought out. I asked if they knew if any of the FEW options were dairy free because we had a milk allergy and they said they didn't know without even offering to look. I'm surprised anywhere can serve food without knowing that kind of information, so we opted not to take the chance with such a serious inquiry. I can't believe I payed what I did, let alone anywhere near what I did for such an unpleasant experience.

I had no issues with my stay here. No smell or dirt in room. It is a dated property (can see rust around parts of shower) but it’s well maintained, at least my room was. Heat & AC unit works fine; large room so it’s hard to fine tune. Of course, it’s slightly out of town, which can be both pro and con. Breakfast is ok and staff is nice. Wifi is decent!Overall, really the only critic is the price, and I think it’s probably due to summer tourist season, as I imagine the place is probably empty in the winter, so I get it.

A fantastic hotel at a fair price. I wish we could've stayed longer. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. The rooms were quiet. I wish we could've enjoyed the pool but we had to leave. The breakfast selections were fantastic. We couldn't have been happier.

First the location is excellent, just 2 min away from the town. The staff was friendly and competent. The breakfast is normal continental with egg and ham (really this could be better). The hotel itself a bit older but seems well maintained. The room was very clean and bathroom was clean (but the blue bathtub and toilet dated it) and everything worked as it should. The A/C worked great. TV was nice with plenty of cable channels. Small fridge and microwave was normal. Only bad thing was the beds were old school squeaky spring mattresses. Kinda soft for me but wife liked it. The pool, hot tub and sauna were all top notch, and super clean and had clean pool towels and free cold drinking water poolside.

The rooms are decent size but a lot of upgrading needed. We paid 240 dollars a night for a king suite. It seemed fairly clean but there were water stains on the ceiling, the doors didnt lock, the ac did not work well for the room either. I definitely expected a much nicer place for the price we paid. Next time will book elsewhere. Decent location though.

When we booked we were under the impression there was a pool, but when I went to check in the front desk clerk told me the pool hasn’t been open for 3 years? The 2 queen beds are clearly double beds and there’s no blanket on the beds just a thin top sheet. Everything in the rooms is outdated, there was a huge hole in our ceiling in the bathroom and paint peeling off in the shower. For the price I would have rather paid a little more and gotten the amenities that were advertised.

Very outdated. Could really use some renovating. Walls are peeling and cracking. Rugs and tile are definitely old. You can still smell old smoke in the rooms. We had a suite and the couch and chairs were coming apart and thread bare in areas. Has pool but pool was closed. No explanation? Breakfast was muffins and bagels with hard boiled eggs. Usual coffee, tea and juice. Not very much to eat, so I would say that it was unsatisfactory for us. Will pass on this next time we are up here and look for something else. Wish I had taken pictures for this revue.

place was musty, a little dusty. very outdated. staff was nice but didn’t really know the area too well when we asked them about it. that’s okay they don’t need to be all knowing but the thing we asked about had a billboard right down the road which apparently must not go down everyday. pool was “closed for the season” and no locks on the doors to enter the living quarters… some rooms had keycards and some had actual keys. we had gotten a suite and since the two buildings aren’t connected(check in and rooms), we got lost and ended up opening up a cabin which we didn’t know who it belonged to. definitely not our room. the place was super hot, even the front desk building and when we mentioned it, the person said, “hmm, maybe i should turn on the ac.” not too bad of a stay when you’re tired but a low budget place for sure even for a $157 suite.

Clean, no bugs, open late, allow dogs. Total was 155$ with pet fee. Place is outdated and sure there are dust bugs in the corners but the staff were very friendly and overall we were pleased. My husband wasn’t overly impressed by the continental breakfast but if you’re coming to an econo lodge for the food, you’ve got it wrong my friend. We would stay here again.
