First time shopping here was great! Clean, friendly, affordable prices. The ladies at the checkout were really nice, pleasant and actually seemed happy to be working. What really tickled me is the fact that I only had to carry in 5 bags packed efficiently, not 50 bags with 2-3 items. Yes!!!

I like the store. The people are friendly. They are helpful and most of the prices are good deals. On the other hand, often the fresh veggies and fruits look underwhelming.

Went for ice cream bars and ice cream sandwiches. They were 6 bucks. That's twice the price of Meijer or Walmart. Left with Nothing

I purchased a Family Pack of 3 T-Bone Steaks this afternoon. The top steak is what a T- Bone is supposed to look like- a consistent thickness and a moderate tenderloin. Hidden under ( apparently with great care) we’re two additional scrap steaks which should have been ground into prime hamburger.. One of the hidden steaks was taper cut from about 3/4 inch to 1/4 inch, the other was “L” cut with no tenderloin and couldn’t be distinguished as a T-Bone however it was a consistent thickness of about 3/4 inch. The tapered steak could not be cooked properly- well done on one end and rare on the other. I am totally dissatisfied with the packaging practices of hiding inferior products under what appears to be representative of the entire package!Follow up to review:I received an almost immediate response from a corporate representative apologizing for the issue mentioned in my review. I was further directed to contact a corporate phone number or email address. I elected to send an email and completed the requested information. The following day I received an email from Mike Wolford, Director of Perishable, requesting I contact him personally. Upon speaking to Mr. Wolford he expressed gratitude that the issue of my concern had been brought to corporates attention as such reviews create “ teachable moments” for their stores. I thank Mr. Wolford for his concern and Freeman Family Enterprises for seriously considering reviews generated by their customers. Issue successfully resolved!

Prices are reasonable, but their produce is poor quality, run into a lot of moldy and rotten fruits and vegetables. Usually only one register open, makes checking out time consuming.

This is the West Branch location though I normally shop the Houghton Lake location. There are some notable advantages here. For one thing, this location has bags so you don't need to bring your own. This was originally opened as an original A&P store. Save A Lot has preserved the original A&P welcome signs near the check outs. Very cool. So for those who may not know, Save A Lot is a value driven grocery and some very good deals can be found. However, avoid the generic snacks like chips, peanuts and crackers. But great produce and good quality meats that often have a great sale price.

This place is always clean and stocked well. The associates are always helpful even though they seem sort of overloaded with work. Definitely a good substitute for having to deal with the masses of people at Walmart. And in my opinion the meat department is better stocked with higher quality product.

Not a very big variety, no weight loss or health foods, the fruit and vegetables selection is small and not very fresh looking. Only ever one register open, and long checkout line.

Honestly when I lived down state (years ago) I hated the Save a Lot stores. They were just...gross...BUT... this save a lot is one of my favorite stores. It has good food at good prices and it's clean. We love the meat here more than any place in town.

Of course this is the first store I hit up when we come into town for groceries because of the great deals and sales. As a family of five I'm always looking for great products and decent prices and the store has never let me down

Store is well organized n fairly clean too. They have good meat n fresh veggies n fruit prices for the most part. I always seem to forget to bring in my own shopping bags though, lol lol. It's great to grab a couple things when your in a hurry n don't want to go all the way thru Walmart

I give em a 5 for their meat! Have tried their ribeyes, butts, sausage, burger, chops, ribs and all were very good! Butcher shop quality at really great prices.

Wanted a pound of ground beef. None there only fifteen dollar packs. High dollar meat six dollars cheapest small pack. How many recipes call for five pounds of beef? Certainly none for single servings. Cant they sell n stock normal one pound ground beef for us old people living alone? I wont go there or recomend it. SUCKS

Store is slowly becoming a joke. 1/4 of the meat section is old brown meat with a "today only" .50 - $2 off sticker on it. Plus you get the bonus of being yelled at by a white haired lady at the checkout. Seriously thinking about taking my business elsewhere after today.
