The place was secluded, it's 7 miles down a twisting (well paved road) to get there. At night it was dead quiet and dark except for the dock lights by the lake. The air was refreshing, and clean. The location was perfect. The grass was well manicured around the cabin and common spaces. We didn't go to fish, but my daughter caught her first fish ever from the dock. I thought it was cool that you could rent a boat and they would drive it straight to your dock - not something I wanted to do but a benefit that I appreciated. The cabin was clean, dishes were clean. Beds were well made with plenty of covers and some extra covers and pillows. It all smelled clean. There were some fit and finish issues with the cabin such as one of the bedroom doors not closing and the bathroom door rubbing the floor but nothing serious. The furniture and beds were comfy. We did find a dog toy under the couch that was not ours - that was the extent of the unusual.Me and my family where there for four days. It was nice, relaxing, quiet and beautiful. We sat and watched the sunset over the lake. Our first night a massive storm blew through and blotted out all the stars and we might as well have been floating in a void somewhere without a single marker outside our cabin to guide us. It was a great stay and considering it cost about the same as a hotel it was worth traveling back there every night even from the most far-flung parts of the UP.The requirements from us were spelled out on a printout on the refrigerator; take out the trash, leave the beds unmade, do your dishes - nothing unexpected. It was also great that we could bring our dogs.

Me and my wife and a friend had a wonderful and relaxing stay at the Loon cabin. The kitchen is well furnished and even had a crock pot for my wife to make chili. Great time fishing on a beautiful lake. The resort was very accommodating when we had boat trouble and they upgraded us to a bigger boat at no extra charge. And Angela at the Lodge was always so helpful. Thank you for a great time. Terry Grapengieser

Our family just returned from spending a week at Wilderness Bay Lodge. Everything about our stay was amazing! Our group of 9 stayed in the deer cabin. It was so nice and clean too! This place is not only people friendly but dog friendly! We all had an amazing time. We thoroughly enjoyed our get away and we think you will too! We are looking forward to our next visit.

Stayed in the Eagle Cabin this past summer and had a great time! They just installed a nice, large dock which will help with docking more boats. The cabin was nice, with decent wifi, and a roku. The shower was great with really good water pressure. The cabins are pretty close to each other which isn't necessarily a bad thing as it easily allows you to talk with other guests. The place is also very close to a boat launch which is great if you are bringing your own boat. There were some negatives though. The store didn't have the longest hours as I think it closed around 4pm most days. This really isn't a big deal as you can obviously pack anything you need or go into Watersmeet and get things at the Grocery store. We didn't see the manager a ton, especially with the online check-in through their new app. Again, this isn't a terrible thing as we had everything we needed, but I'm used having the manager/owner 'check in' on a daily basis. I actually don't like the online check-in for this purpose. I'd rather meet with someone at check-in so I know who to talk to if something goes wrong with the cabin. The last issue I will write about is the price. We paid around $1800 for the week, but it looks to be about $3000 for a week next summer. 3k for a 2 bedroom cabin is just a little steep so we will be looking at different options moving forward. Overall it was a great place, it was clean and well maintained, but I hope they don't go 'corporate' and price out normal families.

I rented a pontoon boat from Wilderness Bay to show my in-laws around the chain. I could not be more impressed with this operation. Renting was a smooth process and the owners were some of the nicest people you'd ever meet. I've been coming to the UP since I was born and I've never encountered people who so clearly poured their heart and soul into their vision. I cannot recommend this place enough. To the owners, thank you for providing my family with the memories of a lifetime.

Dan and Laura and Melissa treat you like family. A real bonus is that Wilderness Bay is dog friendly so we bring our Labs and they love swimming there. We will return for our fourth and fifth trips here this next winter and spring. Everything you need in a housekeeping cottage and also power at the dock to plug your boat in. Dan and Laura are working tirelessly to improve the resort and it shows. I’m not kidding when I say they treat you like family and if you need something they get it for you. Top shelf people who get it!

We just stopped at the convenience store as we were out and about looking at the fall colors. The store is very cute and a complete room filled with candy! The gentleman was very friendly and helpful and gave us some suggestions in regards to the fall colors and camping! The property looked beautiful as well! I would definitely stay if we were looking for a place! Thanks for the tips!!

Stayed in the "Eagle" cabin in mid-June. Great cabin, very clean and represented well by the photos posted on the resort website. Beautiful sunset location on the lake with outstanding views from the cabin porch. Boat dock a very short walk right in front of the cabins.Rented boat as well and it too was excellent - no issue and no worries. When minor trolling motor charging issue arose, it was taken care of very quickly.Owners of the resort were attentive, helpful, and friendly.Location was a definite attraction both on the lake chain and its proximity to the Sylvania Wilderness Area.Dog friendly resort - glad to see this, but comes with pro's and con's. The biggest challenge is the dog owners. Loved seeing the dogs run and play in the lake; none were aggressive, and all just having fun. However the pooch next to our cabin did not like being left alone when the entire cabin hit the lake and left their dog unattended in the cabin, where he barked almost constantly in the cabin. This seemed to be an isolated issue with this one group when he was left alone, and not the case at other cabins when their pups were alone. His owners should have been more attentive.Nice place and wish the owners well

Dan, Laura, Stu, Bobo, and last but not least, Smokey Joe made our stay here absolutely amazing. The cabins are awesome, there's a store with the basics, bait and candy right on site. The lake is right there... You can open your screen door and feel the breeze from the lake.We chose this resort for part of our honeymoon trip. We rented a boat and went out fishing (the weather wasn't very agreeable for us) but we caught a 29 inch northern, among other fish. But what really sets this resort apart from others is the hospitality shown to us by Dan.... And of course Stu, Bobo, and Smokey.I would definitely recommend staying here.

We love the current owners! Very helpful and friendly, easy to find when you need gas for your boat. They stock a good variety of essentials which saves a trip into town and Jule's Sweet Shop in the back is a great treat for the kids.

This place is incredible. I can't think of many other places that'd be equally as suited to take your family to for a getaway or reunion as it would be for a fishing trip with the guys. There are a bunch of great cabins in fantastic shape located on a beautiful part of the lake, nestled near some of the best fishing, hunting, wilderness, boating, and snowmobiling in all the Midwest. This place has changed ownership and is now run by someone who helped manage a smaller hotel/hospitality chain in the central US, so it's in good hands with someone who knows the business and has a long track record of making guests feel comfortable and at home.I know the owners personally, but don't let that take away from this review. They are among the best people I know, doing something they love, and in an unforgettable location. Give this place some serious consideration if you're looking for a week or weekend getaway and I promise, you won't regret it!

I cannot say enough about how amazing both the resort and new owners of Wildnerness Bay Lodge and Resort are. Dan and Laura go out of their way to ensure that you have everything you need (and even offered things we didn't know we needed, like legos and games for our four year old to play with during our stay). I have been spending time up north since I was a kid and this resort is definitely at the top of my list. It offers great amenities (numerous boat rental options, a ton of food and toiletry items in their convenience store, a candy shop, grills at each cabin, firepits, direct TV in the cabins, amazing small towns within an hours driving distance - Check out Boulder Junction and Eagle River). And they are pet friendly and have two of the cutest dogs ever (shout out to Bobo and Captain Stubing). While there, we caught walleye, both largemouth and smallmouth bass, panfish and northern. If you are looking for a family friendly northwoods cabin, you have to check them out!!

Cabins are nice, nice location. We were there in winter, so scenery was wintery. Cabins were warn and comfortable while the outside temps were will below zero. We were there with our kids and grandkids, really enjoyed our time there. The owners are great people! Will be going back for a summer vacation.

Great place to stay while fishing the famous Cisco Chain if Lakes. New owners go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Not a luxury property, but I will return to the beautifully designed cabins

Super friendly place. Very nice place. Kept up to a higher standard than most up here. The general store is awesome. They had toothbrushes!!! Beats an hour round trip to get one. I am going to stay there next year for sure. I would say this place competes with the beat of them!
