We visited New Year's weekend and chose this restaurant because of the allergy-friendly options. It was a busy night with an hour wait for a table, but the food was good, and sadly we visited on a short winter's day and did not to enjoy the lake view as it was dark. I also thought the prices were reasonable for what it was. We will be back if in the area again. I really enjoyed my walleye sandwich.

We went to Barrell Back two times during our September visit. No reservations were needed, but we were there during the off season. I imagine the busy season it would be much different. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great and laid back. Breakfast was our first meal and then we went back with friends for dinner. The customer service was very good. The town of Walloon Lake is perfect to walk around and shop, stretch your legs after a meal.

The Barrel Back is one of Northern Michigan's hidden gems on Walloon Lake. A great place for excellent food and tasty drinks with a sizable bar and dining area overlooking the lake. A great place to watch the sunset! Located over top of a unique lake front shop which specializes in outdoor water sports apparel and many unique items related to the lake life. The staff was very personable and friendly. They were knowledgeable of the menu and very accommodating with specific requests! I would truly recommend anything from their menu! I've never been disappointed with any meal here!

Took my son to Boyne resort to have a fun weekend enjoying the SkyBridge and waterpark, as his birthday was on Thanksgiving this year. Other than the SkyBridge, the rest of the trip was so-so at best. Anyway, we went to Barrel Back Restaurant for dinner our last night there, and it was incredible! It really made up for the lack of enjoyment we had on our vacation, and we will definitely go back if we ever make it that way again.I had the ribeye, he wanted a cheeseburger, and we even got wings to go. EVERYTHING we had was fantastic! Thank you for the great dinner, great service, and the view!

Ordered the chicken sandwich. It was just very dry. Like could've broken the whole breast in half like a chip-dry. And so were the steak fries. Dry to a crisp with no soft in the middle. Did not finish it. My husband ordered a pizza and did not like that either and he usually loves all pizza. Friends ordered the brisket and it was way too dry for them. They set it aside right away. Second time here with a similar experience the first time.Parking: Parking lot by the lake playground.

Went here randomly one night as they were one of the of the only restaurants in the area opened after 9pm. The food was amazing, the drinks were yummy, and the desserts were to die for! Wish we lived closer so we could come more often. I thought the prices were pretty standard for the area! The service was also unbeatable! Will be back on the next trip!

Stopped in and enjoyed some amazing smoked wings and brisket sliders. The vibe is so cozy and we loved the fireplace in the middle of the room with the panoramic view of the lake. Really a cool unique space. We had the best server- Ashley! Not only was she on top of everything but she gave great recommendations and really just made our experience here so special.

THE RESTAURANT IS UPSTAIRS! I'd still be searching if not for the friendly staff at boat rental... Aside from that our dinner was fine if perhaps a bit overpriced. Waitstaff Elora was a joy. Try the Buffalo Chicken dip! Salmon was as wonderful as the view of Lake Walloon.

Nice restaurant in downtown Waloon on the lake.Our server Sam was really nice but it took a while for anyone to acknowledge us after we were sat. We sort of for the vibe from the entire staff that they didn't care all that much.Besides that it was a great place.The food came out quickly and was really good. The brisket was incredibly tender and the cesar salad was good. The portions were on the small side, especially for the sides but everything tastes great.If you're in downtown Waloon and looking for dinner this is a good pick.

We stopped here after a search for gluten free restaurants, and Barrel Back was suggested with good reviews. They did not disappoint! Upon arrival, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff was friendly, and our waiter Christopher was very helpful as well. I have to avoid a few things and they were accommodating without it being an inconvenience, which is always comforting and reassuring for me. The only extra charge was for the bun, which is pretty common. We absolutely enjoyed our stay (Right by the fireplace!) and will definitely be returning next time we are in the area.Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating and willing to double check and sub items! I felt very safe eating here.Parking: Parking was the only downside, because we couldn't find any. But we were new to the area and didn't look anything up first. But the food was so good it was worth the block or two we had to park away.

Great atmosphere, food, service and view of the lake. Great location, right at the foot of Lake Walloon.Large open dining and bar area offers a lot of dining options. We went for lunch a returned a couple of days later for happy hour.The service has always been over the top. The staff is very helpful and accommodating.The menu is quite extensive with a lot of variety. They have a nice list of local beers as well as a nice wine list.The Beer Battered Whitefish sandwich was great; served with lemon-garlic aioli, sweet hottie pickles and country style fries. For Happy Hour we had the wings with a variety of sauce and they were awesome!Love the Barrel and go every time we visit Walloon

Food and service were both excellent.Had the Cuban sandwich which was great and we shared a 1/2 portion of chicken nachos which were plenty for 2 people.The decor is pretty cool as you look onto the lake and it would be awesome in the summer as they’d open the garage style windows.Recommended.

Excellent food. Excellent service. The bread basket was great. The corn bread was sweet and I like it like that. The ribs were super tender. The roasted summer veggies were nicely cooked and flavorful. Loved the coleslaw, its creamy and sweet. Everything was awesome! Can't wait to go back!

We got the rigatoni and the fish sandwich. Both were incredible! Great atmosphere - you can see so much of the lake. Very nice service also!Vegetarian options: All vegetarian options are labeled, and many are labeled that can be substituted for vegetarian options. Same for gluten free.Dietary restrictions: Courteous and accommodating of allergies (shellfish in our case)!

Great food, great service and nice environment. Waiter was very personable and my Cuban sandwich was very good. The steak fries were ok. Might go with reg fries next time. Wife's tacos were great! Decent beer prices. 2$ PBR which is one of the better prices in the entire county. If I lived closer I would go hereuch more often. Had a really good time.

Nice decor with a lovely view out on the lake. Chairs a bit uncomfortable. SB I had was sweet, better without food. The Greek pasta and broccoli were both way way too salty. Go for a beer and a sandwich, a safer choice.

This place was excellent! The drinks were a bit pricey but they were delicious. Beautiful atmosphere, perfect for date night. Food was fresh and fast. It can be a bit tricky figuring where the restaurant is because you walk into a store and the restaurant is upstairs. Nicely decorated and it was busy which means1. Food will be fresh2. People love coming here.It's not a big town so it being busy really means something!I will be back for sure!

I go there because the family likes the place. God knows why. The kids like going over in the pontoon boat.They have way more business than they can handle most nights. I just hope the food is OK the night we go. I don't drink. I drank enough for two lifetimes when I was young. I think you will have a better experience after the first time. You'll learn the ropes and if the kids pay, how can I complain. Well, the food at it's best isn't that good. It takes so long to get served you eat what they bring ya'. It's just a zoo. Why go if you can't stand around and drink while waiting for a table? If somebody pour my drink out, I'd leave or be in Jail.Be kind when you can and be honest when you have to.

What a wonderful second story view of the harbor and lake, I got the nachos with smoked brisket. The food was fantastic! Perfect weather! Great staff, and drinks are plentiful.

Ive been to this restaurant twice. The 1st visit in summer 2020 was good. My visit last night 7/5/21 was okay. The sever was friendly and took our drink and food order, but then didn't stop back till after our food was delivered. My brisket was room temperature, but the potatoes were hot along with the broccoli, and the beans were warm.
