What a wonderful service they gave to my Lily. Today was the first day and they did take care of her very well. Highly recommended. They have real nice staffs. I don’t remember the name of the older lady but she did an awesome job. Really appreciated. Thank you so very much!

I used to go here all the time and they used to have excellent service. I did read the reviews again but I thought those were probably just the few unlucky times... until I have to experience it for myself. My dog has so many shaved patches. She is very uneven. Nail was trimmed ok. She has shaved patches on her belly, legs, behind her ears. Some few long strands around her body, paws, face. It seems as if they didn't want to take the time to brush her so they decided to just shave all the knots away. I usually brush her once a week so she wasn't in terrible condition. I told them that i want her cutt half way, not shaved. I paid for the full grooming service and I still tipped (cause I'm not mean). Probably have to look for a different place.

Took my 10 month old Golden retriever earlier this month to be groomed and am so impressed. I had taken her to another groomer 2 days prior but they were only able to bathe her - they stated she had a bad temper. Somerset grooming cut her and said what a sweetie she was. Will definitely be taking her here moving forward. Thank you guys!!

I had a good experience coming here until one day I got a different groomer. She literally shaved my baby down to the skin so bad and he was uneven everywhere. Was not even nice about explaining what happened when we picked him up. She was so rude and did not care.

I've only ever took my dog here, so when I took her this time and picked her up and has a $15 upchage from the prior visits, I was a little surprised. I questioned why and got the response she was "heavily matted" on her legs. I found this hard to believe as I brush her daily. Being that I didn't want any confrontation, I paid the fee and didn't tip my nominal 15% this time, and left. As I got her in the car, I noticed a area on her hind legs cut (shaved) very short and her ears weren't the same length. It's sad to say I'll be looking for another groomer after this.

Did a great job grooming my puppy who had her first visit to the groomer. They gave me what I asked for and helped me decide what to do. It did seem a bit cramped for both humans and dogs. It was so loud with the fans/barking withing a few feet of the reception area we had to shout to hear each other.

The woman that trimmed and buffed Bullet's nails did a fantastic job, she was very nice and sweet to Bullet. We'll definitely go back to Somerset Dog Grooming in Troy again.

We went there once and it was not at all a good experience. I was hoping to find a groomer because the one we were using retired, so we thought we would try Somerset Dog Grooming out. The ladies were nice however, a couple of them seemed very young. We took our Bernese Mountain dog there and it took 3+ hours, they charged us $90 which seemed high for what we were asking them to do, they squeezed him in a crate that was 2 times smaller than his size dog crate with a huge blower attached to the crate (poor guy had no room to move, I was so disturbed to see him in there like that) and we brought our baby home and he had several cuts on his skin that he kept licking. His hair was absolutely awful- such a hack job! This seemed surprising to me as the other groomers I used in the past said he was an amazing and easy dog to groom. My dog couldn’t get out of there fast enough and I knew walking in that something was off and I felt uncomfortable, I should have just turned around.Thankfully we found an amazing place that doesn’t crate dogs, aways gives my boy a big hug when he comes in to get groomed and they always send him home with a cute bandana and choice of a toy. They only charge me $60 and my dog is $120 lbs! Our new place always asks us exactly what we want done and then asks us what we think when we pick him up- so personable and caring! Totally the opposite of what I felt at Somerset Dog Grooming.Others may love this Somerset Dog Grooming but we will never go back... I also would NOT suggest you to go there if you have a large dog breed.

Had a terrible experience here. My dog normally saw Chris, the owner, but for some reason another groomer named Emily groomed my dog on this day without me knowing prior. Called the office after grooming to speak to Chris or a manager about Emily upcharging me because apparently my dog bit her and another groomer. Never have I ever had a problem with my dog biting anyone. My dog also had a razer like bloody burn on his neck and a gash above his eye. I was furious. The manager I spoke to asked me if it seemed like Emily was on something 😳 What?!? Why would she ask me that? Chris, the owner, ended up calling me and apologizing for switching groomers on me, but was adamant that Emily was a very compassionate groomer. My dog came home that day traumatized and with injuries. I have never been back and would never recommend anyone going here.

I have been going to Somerset Grooming for years and I am so glad that a friend of mine recommended them to me. The owner Chris is one of the nicest people I know and our dog loves her!! I highly recommend them. They will treat your pet with care and love.

This is honestly my favorite groomers. I am super particular about how I liked my dog groomed.I am a regular. They do take walk ins so I dropped my dog off and they charged me 65 for a “mini groom” (Ig it’s just a bath) but didn’t even cut her nails. The lady that normally grooms my dog was not there but I did feel like that mini groom service was not worth 60. A full groom is normally $55. I would have given them 5 stars had I not encountered this experience. My dog actually gets excited when she sees the lady that always grooms hers, almost jumps out my arms!

I have taken my dogs here for years. I had a problem a few months back and dismissed it. Then that last time I got them groomed my old dog (15 years old) was cut under her leg. They did not charge me on her but my puppy was cut several places on ears in that ears etc. They made no mention of it and when I contacted them they just brushed it off like it was normal or she scratched herself. She did not scratch herself they are cuts. I will be looking to find another groomer as they are not reliable and have poor staff.

As most dog parents will know, bringing your dog to the groomers can be quite scary because you have to leave them for multiple hours! I have been bringing my dog to Somerset Dog Grooming in Troy for about 8 months now and I absolutely love the treatment my dog receives. They always remember him when we walk in and I know that he will be a good hands! They always listen to exactly what I want, and even called me last time to make sure they didn't do something we didnt want. Highly recommend this place and will continue to go to them!

Took my 35lb Goldendoodle here for the first time for a feet/face/Fanny cut between his full grooming appointments at his regular groomer. He had a few minor mats on his ears which I pointed out to the groomer. When I got home I noticed instead of trying to brush the mats out, she completely hacked out the mats. His ear was left with a massive chunk taken out of it down to the skin in two places with no attempt to shape or even out his ears. The nails were also poorly trimmed. Lastly, this service cost me just as much as his regular full grooming appointment. Will not be going back and would not recommend.

I need a MILLION stars to truly describe how I feel about this place! This is my new groomer, forever. We had a devastating diagnosis for our 14 year old Border Collie. He was in terrible pain and was not going to be with us for long, so we made the difficult decision to have him put to sleep. Our regular groomer refused to groom him the last time we brought him in, because of his seizures and loss of control of bodily functions. Our vet offered to do a clay paw print of his paw for us to remember him by, but he had long hair between his pads, and long nails. Without an appointment, we showed up at this location to ask about having his front paw (he was a 3-legger) clipped and cut so the pawprint would be better. Not only did Michelle agree to come out to our car to do it (he couldn't walk or stand anymore), but she talked to my 6 year old about everything and helped calm him. After she was done, she refused to let us pay her, saying she could never charge for doing such a thing. She gave me a hug, and everyone inside the business also gave their condolences. I cannot tell you how much this helped us make it through this grueling day. Our Coda is in a better place now, and I will never forget how kind and caring they were at Somerset. Thanks immensely!

Took my 1 year old lab to his first grooming appointment at Somerset Dog Grooming and was extremely disappointed with the lack of care he received. When I arrived to pick my puppy up after his appointment I had noticed his eyes were extremely red, gooey/sticky, and he was unable to fully open both of eyes. When I asked what happened to his eyes they took a paper towel and wiped his eyes saying it was just eye boogers. I trusted they would tell me if anything happened, so I left the groomers and went home. Once we got home his condition became worse and he wouldn't open his eyes. He kept trying to rub them on the carpet and seemed uncomfortable, they were red, inflamed and filled with goo. I had to contact the vet and be seen right away. After a long night of flushing his eyes with saline solution, he seems to be slowly but surely opening his eyes more and more. Not only am I disappointed that the staff at Somerset Dog Groomers were not up front with what happened to my dog, I am frustrated that my dogs first grooming appointment went this south. If they would've told me something got into his eyes I could've done something about it much sooner and the damage could've been repaired. I will be going back to try and get a refund for the stress and pain this has caused my dog and I.

AMAZING service! I highly recommend. The costumer service is out of this world! They're such kind and welcoming people. My dog is very skittish and afraid of groomers but this was the first time he wasn't afraid at all. The haircut was amazing and exactly how we wanted it. Super pleased and will be going back again :)

Did a great job with our AussieDoodle (Max). They asked if I was happy or if any more trimming was needed to get the look we wanted. Very skilled employees that obviously knew what they were doing. Our 4th trip here and I won't take our dog anywhere else. You get what you pay for.

Definitely NOT the relaxing, calm experience their website claims. Certainly not a good option for nervous or anxious dogs. This place is loud, cramped, and no apparent concern given to the dogs. They don’t even bother to say hello to your pets before shoving them in a kennel. Not professional and not high quality.

Specifically told them not to cut any hair and they removed all of my puppy’s furnishings on his face. It was not clearly explained to me what they would do. It was my puppy’s first groom. Be sure to understand what they mean by a clean up.

Always friendly and since my dog is short hair and we bath her ourselves they just take care of her nails as a walk-in. $5 is a good value and she has always been frieghtend of the nail clippers but they get it done and have never clipped them too short.

i’ve never brought my dog to this salon but i called to see if they could recommend a good sharpening service. i’ve been calling salons around the area and was laughed at and given a number that was disconnected or someone that i had already tried. the woman that answered at Somerset Dog Grooming was SO polite and immediately gave me a number for someone she seemed to put a lot of trust in. i called him within minutes and he’s already coming to my salon tomorrow morning!

Got my long overdue ten year old shepherd in for a groom. He looks great, and he isn't the easiest to handle given that he doesn't like to be brushed. Still, the groomer did a thorough job and was nice to deal with. We will be going back.

Unfortunately after a couple visits to Somerset Dog Grooming, we are going to have to find another groomer. The groomer asked if I wanted to pick out a bandana for our dog when I picked her up. I thought it was a nice gesture considering we weren't offered this last time. However, now I'm wondering if it was an opportunity for her to cover up the gash on our dog's neck, which we found after we took off the bandana at home. Thank god no ultimate harm was done. But the fact that this injury occurred with no notification to the owner is alarming.

My grand-dog has a piece of his tongue missing. They cut his tongue during haircut but they didn’t seem too concerned saying he’ll be okay “we see this often “ he bled the drive home and my daughter was still charged for the haircut ( although they gave her $10 off)
