While the drive was a little long for us from Empire, I didn’t mind because of how scenic it is! Our lab tore a toenail while running around outside & the vet’s office staff was able to get us in the next morning. They called to ask that I drop her off early so the vet could look at Luna in between appointments to see what would be needed. Once she did that, she said that Luna needed the toenail removed, but everything else about the exam was fine (no cuts needing stitches, etc.). When I picked Luna up, I was given a thorough & detailed run down of what was seen, what was needed & why, after-care instructions, medication & a follow up appointment. Every one of the staff we encountered were pleasant, thorough, efficient, knowledgeable & compassionate. They clearly love furry friends! The office was clean and neat, with the coolest plants thriving in the sunny space. We had a great experience with Suttons Bay Animal Hospital.

Dr. Schroeder and her staff were amazing to my little princess Lucy and treated like a queen during a very rough time and a hard surgery. Lucy is 14 yrs young and doing amazing post surgery and keeps on pushing for a healthy and long life. I can’t thank you all enough, but from the bottom of my heart “Thank you” for all that you do 😊🐶❤️

It pleases me to have this opportunity to share with the community about my wonderful experience I had with Sutton's Bay Veterinary Hospital.I took my dog to another vet in Traverse City, that I was a client for 5 years. Every visit was a $450 bill and after many visits and getting to the point that her quality of life was declining rapidly and finally diagnosed, through blood work, that she was in stage 3 liver failure, I was distraught to hear the news. My heart break was beyond words. When I challenged the results, they told me that I would need to spend another $2400 to really determine if this is truly an accurate diagnoses and then they may not be able to treat to save her.As a dog parent who knows her normal behaviors, I knew she was sick, but was not convinced in my heart that she was in liver failure. I could tell in her eyes and how she would interact with me she just didn't feel well. In my heart, I knew this could not be true, not out of denial, but out of knowing my dog and the deep bond we have between us. Since her condition came on so rapidly, this diagnosis just didn't make any sense.I challenged the vet again and asked if they were sure this is not a parasite that's causing this condition. Since she is a rock hound, and we are always on the beaches, she loves to swim, and dogs, will be dogs, she would find something to eat off the beach, which I recall her doing so, just prior to her getting very ill.Through a friend of mine, he told me about Dr.Rachael Starr, a homeopathic doctor certified in the Standard Process Program, which I am very familiar with since I have been also treated successfully through the Standard Process, so I proceeded to make an appointment to see her.Fingers crossed that my dog would hold on to make it to her first visit to begin the Standard Process treatment was a nail biter of a two weeks, but she held on.At our first visit Dr. Starr, conducted the screening test and, low and behold, her diagnosis was she has a single cell parasite, along with other issues to address because of her liver fighting so hard, she prescribed 3 supplements to kill the parasites, provided liver support, another to cleanse the cells of toxins and rejuvenate her overall. In just two weeks of starting the treatment my dog sprang back so quickly to a point she was playing a little and able to walk up to a 1.5 miles on the beach, where prior to treatment, she could only walk 200 feet before collapsing from exhaustion.I am very pleased and hopeful she will completely recover with this treatment and she is definitely heading in the right direction. Everyday I see improvement in her physical and emotional well being. Thank you Dr. Starr for your help saving my dog's life while not breaking my budget.I hope my review helps those that need quality vet care for their pets. I strongly recommend Sutton's Bay Animal Hospital and trust they truly care about giving your pets the best quality life possible.

My experience with Dr. Katie Cochran and Suttons Bay AH was very negative for numerous reasons. First, it was difficult to get a simple estimate for a planned surgery. Second, Dr. Cochran doesn't hide the fact she dislikes my dog because he is so scared at the clinic he has to wear a muzzle (maybe they should look in to Fear Free certification while they try for AAHA certification, then she can learn ways dogs exhibit fear), and lastly, because she presents as not being confident in her own surgical skills and cheaped out on the suture used for my dog's $$$ surgery. When I informed her about his resultant incisional infection and concern that she didn't use the best suture and pattern for my dog's subcutaneous tissue, she immediately told me to go somewhere else. There was no empathy that my dog was made ill, only her own, obviously, fragile ego. We were already not returning, I was just calling to ask what suture type and pattern was used underneath my dog's skin. Please find a better clinic for your pet. Dr. Parker Bowman, DVM [Michigan State University trained veterinarian, retired]. I am including a picture of my 'scary' dog.UPDATE 11/30/23: They did not contact me several times, that is a lie. The manager left me ONE voicemail message to discuss our less-than-proper care. I missed that call and didn't bother to call back, the details were in my review and it was not worth any more of my time and energy to discuss further as I was never returning anyway. With the exception of having to go in on 11/30/23 to get my pet's medical record that I was told would be mailed to me two weeks ago, but never was. Dr. Parker Bowman

We have been going to SBAH for several years now. They keep our wonderful pooch healthy and well groomed. They know who he is and treat him so well. His tail is always wagging when he has to go there. Not many vets have that reaction from their clients.

I've been coming to SBAH for many many years with our Lab, then our many Pugs. I can always count on them, whether it's the wonderful staff or the vets. They've always kept our dogs healthy. If it's something I ask about and they're not sure of, as busy as they are, they'll find out for me. I see Dr Cochran and Dr Starr the most, and they always work with me on integrative health care. And if it's urgent they always work us in!The staff is so friendly they feel like family. Lauren always goes over and above with her friendliness, caring and being fun!Keep it up SBAH!

If you bring yr pets Rx for when they're there for boarding purposes, they charge you $7. per pill to administer yr pets Rx that you've already paid for, regardless of how many times per day yr pet gas to take his/her Rx, its still $7. per pill dose regardless of how many times a day tr loved one has to have it.

I want to love Suttons Bay Vet Clinic because the doctors and office staff are wonderful (and it's so close to home!) but I CAN NEVER get a last minute appt or emergency appt. I've called 2-3 times for various reasons the last year and the result has always been either having to wait MONTHS appt OR go to another clinic. In one instance, we got a new puppy and we were told it was going to be another 12 weeks before they could even get him in to get his first series of shots. And just today, I called because my other dog is life threateningly sick and they can't get him in.Sadly, BOTH of my dogs are now going to be seeing other vets further from home because we need more dependable care.

The receptions and technicians at Suttons Bay Animal Hospital are great! Dr. Cochran has been a wonderful care provider for our Peppermint. She is thorough, thoughtful, practical and compassionate. Having a senior dog, we are "frequent fliers" in terms of needing to visit the office quite often. We feel very qualified in being able to attest to nothing less than top notch treatment that we've received at every single visit.

Suttons Bay Dr's and staff are Professional, Courteous, Caring and very family oriented. They work with all the owners to have the most comfortable and best experience. Dr. Cochran is an Angel that absolutely saved my Boykin Spaniels life. All the Dr's are awesome. Their compassion is outstanding. They go the extra mile for their clients. I highly recommend them.

This is quality care for your furry family friend. Dr. Katie Cochran is a top doc. Very helpful with all the info you need to feel like you're making the best decisions for your family member. She guided us through end of life care for our older dog who had cancer in the most sensitive and supportive way. Now she's providing great care for our young puppy. The staff is equally top notch and the practice is very well organized. All are friendly and helpful. We will never hesitate to recommend this practice.

Awesome staff that truly cares about their patients. Our dog loves visiting the staff! Even when getting vaccines. We switched our animal hospital previously to follow our vet but ended up going back to Suttons Bay as our dog does not experience anxiety when going there.

I just can’t say enough about the kind folks at Suttons Bay Animal Hospital! We are summer residents up here in this beautiful area and found ourselves with two very sick cats. The care we received putting one fur-baby down was beyond amazing. So when she recommended Suttons Bay Animal Hospital for our other one, we didn’t hesitate.Dr. Blaha-Wenke went above and beyond any vet that we have ever used. Ever! Her compassion and kind words helped ease our already broken hearts. And she treated our frightened boy with such care! We are so grateful to the entire staff. We still have a long way to recovery. But I’m glad we have these folks by our side. I would absolutely very highly recommend this amazing pet hospital to anyone who has an ill baby!!

We have utilized SB Animal Hospital over the past few years for our dogs health. They’ve dealt with healthy pets, sick pets and euthanasia. All handled very professionally and patiently from the front desk to the techs to the Vets. So glad we have them as our veterinary practice.Jen, Gary and Bentley

We love this place! Dr. Starr and Corinna offer our epileptic dog, Etta, amazing care! Dr. Schroeder and Dr. Cochran take great care of Lola and Jack. Dr. Cochran was so caring with our best buddy, Oliver while we was going through his end of life stages! Lauren and the other front desk staff are all amazing! Thank you to all of you!!!

We love Suttons Bay Animal Hospital, and especially wanted to give a shout-out to Dr. Piskorowski. She has now worked with both of our cats and our two dogs, and we LOVE her. Our older dog is a 2-year-old Newfoundland who hasn't yet mellowed out and is still fairly high-strung, and going to the vet in the past has been hugely stressful for us (and her!) but Dr. Piskorowski did a phenomenal job with her, and has been wonderfully attentive to our puppy's needs & behaviors as well. We've been very happy with our care from all of the vets at SBAH, but absolutely adore Dr. Piskorowski.

Suttons bay animal hospital is the only place I will ever take my fur baby. Since day 1 , staff has been extremely helpful, hard working, and truly care about their clients. Dr Cochran is the best veterinarian and will go above and beyond to help your pet. All of the staff is truly amazing and I could never thank them enough. You will not be let down if you take your pet here!

We could not be happier with the care our pets have received from SB Animal Hospital. The office is run efficiently and everyone is courteous and helpful. Minnie Purrl thinks they're great - she loves getting pedicures, and she does really well with the staff. Thank you SBAH for your many years of care!

All the doctors and staff are extremely professional, courteous and very, very kind. We have been going there for over 10 years now and the level of care and compassion is extraordinary. Dr. Cochran is our pet's primary doctor and she is outstanding...really knowing our pet and us! Not only does our girl get thorough yearly exams, we schedule her to have her nails trimmed almost monthly and have also utilized the wonderful boarding facilities...whether for just a few hours or for mulitple overnights bringing us great peace of mind that she is getting outstanding care whenever we have to be away. Suttons Bay Animal Hospital has made it their business to really know and love our pet, so this has never felt like just a business, but one of going to a family members home! We recommend them so highly! Thank you always❣️

Refer by many friends/family to the clinic. We took our new Great Pyrenees Pup and had a great visit with Dr. Cochran. She answered all of our "new parent" questions and had the same philosophy of care that was important to us. Dr. Cochran took the time to educate us in a way that wasn't "my way or the highway" and made us feel very comfortable with the care our pup was receiving. Very impressed. We had a follow up appointment for a tick and saw Dr. Sheard as Dr. Cochran was out that day. Very impressed with him too and felt very reassured that no matter who we saw at the clinic, our baby would be in good hands. Pricing seemed spot on to me and even surprised me a little bit as I was terrified it was going to be a lot more. Recommend this place as I truly feel they are passionate about what they do. Thank you...

With compassion and skill, SBAH saved our cat's life. They walked us through the entire process clearly, made a plan, and saw it through. The staff is so kind; exactly the type of people you need when you're going through a crisis with your animal's health. We have been going here for 6 years, and every doctor we've seen has been good at what they do. I appreciate having such a place in our community.

I have been taking my dogs to Sutton’s Bay Animal Hospital for many years. The doctors and staff are top notch from a puppies first visit through the course of your pets life. They always take time to explain what’s going on with your pet as well as giving you multiple options on what treatments will be best. Like everyone the staff loves puppies but what impressed me more was the care an compassion they showed when I had to make that difficult decision. While I discussed options with the doctor the vet tech never stopped petting KC providing him comfort when he was hurting and scared. You can’t go wrong with this team of professionals.
