99.9% sure this vet called animal control on us because we wouldn't spend over $1,000 on tests. I'm astonished. Do not go here.We are new to the area so didn't go to our normal vet, we wanted to find someone local to begin a relationship with, unfortunately we tried doing that here. Our dog has always been underweight, it's never been an issue. Our normal vet ran a bunch of tests when we first got her and knows she's fine, this is just the way she is. She's a happy, healthy, loved dog. But Banfield wanted to run all of these tests on her that brought our bill well over $1,000 and tried guilting us into doing it. I politely declined and said I'd refer back to our original vet as the amount of money she was trying to charge us was absurd over something we've already had dug into. I even offered to have the paperwork sent over to them, they didn't care, they said they go off of what they see, and they want all these tests done.A few days later animal control showed up to our house, NO JOKE. They were there "about a skinny dog" that someone called about. So I introduced them to our pooch. They weren't even slightly concerned and even gave us some free dog toys and stuff, it ended up being a pleasant interaction that (surprise) they were not concerned about.Animal control read me the statement that caused them to come out which incorrectly referred to our dog as the wrong breed, which was the same incorrect breed Banfield said our dog was. Nobody else has ever mistaken our dog for this breed except for Banfield, and now animal control a few days later. Long story short - I found a local vet and just got our dog home from there, he took good care of us as well as our pooch and wasn't concerned over her weight, I will never go back to Banfield.I am still in shock that a vet representing a corporation did something like this, I will probably be contacting a lawyer.

This is the worst veterinary practice I’ve ever been to, and there’s no close second. On top of their incompetence the vet and vet techs pushed extra services on us in the same way you’d expect at a cliche oil change place, only this was so aggressive and absurd itd be the equivalent of an oil change place telling you if you don’t change your air filter your car would explode. They’re also absurdly expensive.. I guess what I’m saying is, why even go here? Go somewhere else, you won’t regret it

I took my newly adopted, 11 year old yorkie to this practice for the first time in September 2020. From my first phone call, they placed me at immediate ease. Their Covid protocols meant I was unable to remain with Bentley, but I knew he was in good hands. They kept in contact and the Dr. called me to review the exam and to discuss findings. I also signed up for their pet wellness plan which offers a wide array of services, including chat options with a vet should a concern arise after hours. We just had our 2nd visit and I’m still very impressed. I highly recommend for your fur babies. Picture I’d Bentley the Elder Pup for emphasis

Had a very positive visit with this clinic..appointment was make accordingly to my schedule, receptionist was very cordial and helpful. The clinic was clean and my wait time as less then 10 minutes to see the doctor..my pet was handled with care and concern..we had a private room and I and my children were allowed to see and watch the exam and speak with the vet..hour and a half later we picked our little dog up and the experience went without a bad issue or safety concerns.

HORRIBLE. I WILL NOT RECOMMENDED THIS PLACE.This was my first time coming to this vet. I get there and the young lady who need to gain customer service skills tells me my puppy will be ready in 3 hours...Just for shots never heard of that. Well they're policy is for the dog to be monitored after shots but for 3 hours. I was not told that when I made the appointment.I went into get him early because I just wasn't feeling this place. The same lack of customer service young lady tells me my puppy hasn't been seen yet. When it has been over an hour since we been there.The lack of professionalism,customer service and communication. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!

I just found out from another (much better) Banfield location that the doctor at Southfield noticed a heart murmur in my kitten over NINE months ago and never told us. Wouldn’t you think that’s something that pet parents would like to be informed about? From the front desk staff to the top vet, communication sucks all around. Do better.

Watch how these people take your pet in and you will quickly see how they will be treated behind closed doors. They do not care. It is just a business to them. A sorry thing for a vet . Compassion for animals is a big expectation when taking your furry kid into the vet. They have no use for that. They just do not care.

Stuck in traffic due to an accident after getting off work and didn’t make it before 6pm to pick my puppy up until 6:14pm. They charged me $77.62 for 14 minutes but told me I had to make it there by 6:30pm or they would send my new puppy to emergency and I would have to pay $700 to get him back. What a rip off!!!! Highway robbery! No grace period?! When I asked why $77.62 she lady acted like oh well thats your problem. No emotions or sympathy for me having to pay extra money for 14 minutes! I will be adding this and talking about this on ALL my social platforms. Beware if you get your dog 1 minute after 6pm they will charge you! We are in a pandemic! Im already paying out of pocket for puppy vaccination and you are charging your clients $77.62 for 14 minutes! I WILL NEVER visit this place again!!! Horrible customer service for not even telling me on the phone they were going to charge me so I was unprepared for a $200 bill!

They knew what my dog was coming in for and didn't do anything about it only did his shots and told me I had to make another appointment to have him put out for any x-rays and to clean his teeth (only way it's covered in the plan we have). I'm also on the monthly plan that covers almost everything and was frustrated that they didn't inform me anything about that until I picked up my dog! Just wish there was better communication than what I received.

PLEASE do not go!!!!! We took our German Shepard/Husky for vomiting it was the worst mistake we made the Dr. mumbled through his mask and had no clue what was a matter with our boy. In his own words and almost $1000 later he couldn’t find anything wrong and that we could seek a second opinion!! Our boy had stomach cancer and is in heaven. They should be Sued for malpractice!!!!!!!!

So disappointed. My friend recommended me this place for puppy wellness plan. First of all, they charged me for the wellness plan plus, instead of the regular plan, even I have told them that we are not planning on neutering our puppies. At the day of appointment, I took my two puppies there as scheduled at 10am, and they told us to come back and pick them up by 3pm. We called by 2:30 to check their status and they seem have done nothing on them yet. We didn’t get a call until 4:30. After we pick them up, they seem soooo thirsty. I can’t believe they kept my puppies there for more than 6 hours without giving them water.

So incredibly disappointed with Southfield’s Banfield staff. I have always had issues with getting timely responses and hearing back on important topics regarding my pup, but today was the final straw that’s prompted a termination of my subscription. I dropped Milo (10 lb Shih Tzu Maltese mix) off at 11:45am for his check up. I didn’t hear back from the team until closer to 3:15, and didn’t get Milo into my hands until 4:30 - yes, I stood there for nearly an hour! When I saw him coming out I noticed that he was soaking wet and when I asked the nurse that brought him out she hadn’t even noticed. She then tried to convince me it was “a little urine from excitement” as if so couldn’t see with my own eyes that he was completely WET up to his chest and as if the floor was not dry! If my dog was that excited, there would have been evidence on the ground. After he had a second accident in the car I called to ask if they’d taken him out or allowed him to relieve himself during his time there and not even the manager could give me a straight answer. Milo sat in a kennel with nothing but water for hours without being let out or relieved then was released, covered in urine. I think the staff here is extremely inept and I cannot trust them to take care of my sweet puppy. I would strongly advise against considering this location or hospital for your animal.

I have always taken my pit bull to this facility for shots, treatment and wellness visit. This visit was horrible, the service was rude, and they kept my baby all day? He needed four shots, and demanded I left him in their care till 5:30 pm? There were 10 people picking up their pets also ( an hour ordeal) !! My Harley came home with RING WORM!!! Yes RING WORM from uncleaned cage!! I will not be returning to this location ever. They need to clean their cages, change how they treat people! HORRIBLE -

My dog has been going there since he was a puppy. Today they kept him all day and did nothing. He is obviously uncomfortable, but when he came back he was not happy at all. He is shaking and doesn't like affection which he had no problem with before. He won't even wag his tail. He isn't breathing right. And that's not even what he went in for. I dont know what they did, but they did something. What makes it more suspicious is that they didn't charge for the visit. But its clear that they did something to my dog.

I recently moved to michigan and have insurance for my pet with Banfield. Getting an appt was a little difficult due to timing issues but I have absolutely no complaints. The doctor and staff were helpful and friendly. They even did a follow up call which was unexpected and answered every question I had no matter how small it may seem.

My dogs have been going here since they were puppies & I had no problems until this year. To begin my dogs had the 3 year rabies shot last year & they gave them the shot again this year & when I asked why they just said it's ok then 2 weeks ago I took my girl dog in she was bleeding heavier than her normal heat cycle I was told after her exam she didn't have pyometra and she was fine but once home she was shaking, limped for a couple of days, wouldn't eat, vomiting but none of this prior to her visit I took her to emergency & was told she did have pyometra & had to have emergency surgery done. When I called & informed them of this misdiagnosis I was just told well they've been coming here since they were puppies so you must of trusted us & if it's anything you need let us know. I'm looking for a new veterinarian because they definitely are not providing infinite service any longer my dog could have died from their error & all I got was an oh well🤷🏽‍♀️

I was very disappointed in their vet (Dr. Singh): haughty; not very interested in my dog; prescribed medicines he didn't need when a more thorough exam (conducted by my groomer) would have discovered a much simpler answer. I'd used Banfield hospitals in OH and had always been very impressed. The one in Southfield is a loser; will not go back unless I absolutely have to.

They were great. I was super nervous leaving my dog, I never leave him anywhere. Even though he was annoying and barked all day, They took great care of him and gave him anxiety medication for next time.

So far I have been very disappointed in my Banfield experiences. Thankfully I do not have horror stories. My dog is alive and healthy but she requires lots of medical care. The experience when I go to banfield has been poor. I have concerns that are ignored and not addressed, the office staff will follow up but the vets do not. I sadly got their plan when our old vet started offering it but when we moved it left us with petsmarts. I have even taken my concerns to corporate with no resolution. I can wait for the policy to expire in a few months. We will not be renewing and will go to a new vet. Hopefully we can find a good one.

They were great in the beginning but they had a change with doctors. My last visit was for both my dogs comprehensive exam. They seemed very unorganized and I asked twice if my dogs needed anal glands cleaning they said no. Well months later as of today I need to get my dog checked because she looks like she have anal sac infection. She's in pain. I had to Google and do research on my own.

The last time I took my dog in for a check up it took over 6 hours. When I got my dogback he was sick to the point I have to take him to the pet emergency room $$$$, would not stop vomiting over 30 times in and 6 hour period. Back again for shots over and hour and still waiting. The Southfield store needs to deal with there stuffing issues.

I have a health insurance plan that I pay for every month for my dog. They never have appointments available to see him. The wait is usually 2 to 3 weeks so that is very frustrating when you have a sick pet.

Stood there 20 minutes and nobody acknowledged me while somebody was at the front desk which made me late when I was early, and then they are very unaccommodating, shows they don’t care about the animals at all, wish I would have looked at the other reviews before I booked an appointment here

They are the most amazing Vets I've ever encountered. They truly care about your furry family member and have this great Wellness Plan that I would describe as pet insurance - you pay an affordable monthly fee that covers routine checkups (no money needed @appt), they have a few different types of plans, including Wellness plan w/dental.Its obvious the employees love their jobs, from the Docs to the Nurses to the ones working the front desk & phones. I can say from personal experience that my 2 cats love going. When I get their carriers out they jump right in cuz they know where they're going. I tell all my friends and acquaintances that have pets about Banfield and they've all had the same pleasant experiencesBTW: They offer 'pedicures' as a humane alternative to declawing for only $12. They're also located in a Pet Supplies Plus so you can buy anything they need (food, toys, treats, flea drops; etc...)while you're there.I could go on and on (which I already did) about how much I love this place, the vets and the great treatment I always expect and recieve.

They never have appointments. Even for a outpatient thing like anal gland expression they asked me to come after 4 days. All other locations like troy and livonia offered me walk-in services every time my dog needed help but Banfield Southfield location disappoints every single time . Paying all that money towards the wellness plans and not getting helped is frustrating.

Service has been bad as of late. Signed up for an early drop-off and was told I had to wait more than an hour for the doctor to arrive. Unacceptable.
