Monarca’s has some of the best birria in Kalamazoo! Food was tasty, service was great, prices were very fair, and the food came quick. These birria tacos were great because they still had a bit of crunch on the outside, without it being overly soft and mushy like some places. The owner was very nice as well, and even let me try their homemade ice cream. The guava and coconut flavors were great! Make sure to support your local small businesses, and give this place a try!

Great food! I have never had the ice cream but it looks amazing.They were a bit busier today with a large order during lunch and still did a great job. I have ate here at least a dozen times and it's always great. I love the steak tacos, pastor tacos, and chips and salsa.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian burrito

I have been excited to eat here. If your hungry and in Schoolcraft I recommend this place!I had the Mexican style taco combo which is three corn shell taco in chicken, steak. I got the steak, it came with rice and beans. The onion and herbs were fresh and tasty,, the steak was tender and juicy.My girlfriend got the chicken bureto. Both were amazing! They give to options of Mexican and American style and do great at both.Thanks for an amazing meal we will be back.

There were 3 tacos but I snarfed one before I remembered to take a photo. Wonderful traditional tacos-we had al pastor, cameroñes, and vegetable (me) or steak chorizo (him). Loved the salsa verde and house salsa also. Very flavorful (not spicy-ask if that is your preference). An all around excellent dinner.

Update: My autistc son arrived as they were closing. They served him, he ate inside, and left a .51 cent tip because that was all he had left. I am very appreciative that the staff took the time. This says a lot about who they are as a business.The staff is great and funny. Their ice cream is delicious. Their beef and pork might be hot dog sandwiches. Here is a Torta Monarca.

Excellent ice cream! The lady behind the counter was very patient and friendly and generous with samples and suggested the perfect combinations of flavors which for me was coconut and mango. For my husband it was guava and vanilla. Their ice cream is all homemade and you can taste the quality. It’s not overly sweet like American ice cream. Their prices are great: two generous scoops for $6! (Summer 2023). Next time we’ll also try the tacos which smelled amazing! An easy five stars!

Absolutely great street tacos. Best were the shrimp and the al pastor with a good splash of lime and salsa verde. We stopped in here for a quick break on the way to family up the road and loved the atmosphere and family. Tacos were delightfully flavorful and not too spicy (note if you like hotter you might mention when you order). We didn’t get to ice cream but maybe next past. Thanks for the tasty food and for visiting with us.

Great people with even better food. Without a doubt my newest addiction! Everything is fairly priced & beyond delicious! If you’re in the radius of 20 miles, you HAVE to stop here for their juicy birria tacos & a homemade paleta! 10/10 every time!

Ordered takeout about a week and a half ago with my husband and we absolutely loved it! I had a few different Mexican style tacos (highly recommend the birria! Grateful to the staff for their recommendation on it), my husband loved his steak burrito. The street corn in a cup was very good as well! Definitely intend to come back soon and try some more of their exciting menu and ice cream!

Best food in the great city of Schoolcraft. I take my family here every week. My son is just a stout little fella and I cant get him to eat anything at home. As soon as we step through the doors of Monarchas, I can't get him to leave. The staff makes you feel welcome and at home. Easiest 5 stars I've ever given!!

I am super happy to support Monarca's as a small, local business because they are fast, friendly, and tasty. The prices are reasonable too. There are not a lot of lunch options in the Schoolcraft area, and I don't want this gem to disappear!My go-to order is Mexican style tacos (cilantro, onion, lime) on corn tortillas with chorizo and steak with red and green sauce . They carry a decent selection of Jarritos and other common pop bottles and cans. There are a lot of flavors of Mexican style ice cream and some icey ones too that are kind of like sherbet, which I believe is a lactose-free option.Keep in mind that the restaurant does not have a lot of seating. I believe it is accessible with a ramp on the south side of the building. They prefer cash, but cards are accepted too.Buen provecho!

We love this place! The ice-cream that is homemade is sooooo yummy we always want more and the popsicles are soo good!! The tacos are so good too! I'm so happy they opened. My husband is becoming a regular haha.
