Beautiful place. Excellent selection. They have hard to find spices guaranteed , which I travel one hour one way every year to buy ( Sorel for example ). Great selection of annuals and perennials. Excellent, large gift shop.

Beautiful selection of flowers, plants, and gift items. And, the customer service is exceptional. The cashier went above and beyond to make the flowers we were purchasing look just right and ready to be received by our recipient, whose house we were on the way to.

Was pleasantly surprised by all that was there. This is far more than a normal garden center. There were great healthy groceries and produce available. Gifts and decor galore! Christmas seasonal items were plentiful! Bird feeding area was impressive. All on top of the normal garden center items. Great selection! Will definitely go again! Highly recommend it!

Great experience. The food selection was great. They had some garden gear I loved. I do wish they would carry something other than miracle grow as I could get that from any box store. I would love to see them carry Jack's or espoma. Or even proven winners soil/fertilizer.I loved the plant selection. I went for house plants but the pansies and everything else looked great. Great seed selection ❤️ and I caught the spring old nursery stock sale. Great deals and great normal prices on everything at full price! Some fancy nursery's upcharge on items like specimen pines and proven winner things. But they had great pricing and selection I will be back next week!

A lovely garden center with a wide variety for anything you need that is even remotely garden centered. From flowers galore, to bird seed, lawn decorations, and a grocery store. They have something for everyone. (Clothes, jewelry, alcohol, toys, baby things, accessories...) If you want it, they probably have it and more. The staff is also incredibly lovely, sweet, and knowledgeable about the plants. Highly recommend a visit (or two. Or three.)

I go there for my rakes, made in the USA. Although this year, they only had a little one. My last one lasted a while, and the plastic was thick. the handle stayed on the rake part. Had to by another brand for $14.99. I'm not happy at all with the flimsy fella. Love my flash light hat and reading glasses. 1 miss. I love their store and variety of everything. Quality is usually excellent. We won't count that rake. Smells are so good in their store, nicely organized, and clean.

Staff was Very rude, they yelled at me when I brought my dog who is in training to be a service dog for my arthritic mother. We saw other dogs in there without a service vest so we thought it was ok. They didn’t even ask if she was a service dog. When I questioned why those dogs were able to be there they said I wasn’t allowed to ask and yelled at me to leave immediately. Fellow customers felt sorry and noticed they allowed other dogs in, and complemented how well behaved she was and they couldn’t believe it. She is very well behaved and has passed multiple tests needed for her service dog training, so was uncalled for. Produce and flowers are great. Prices are way overpriced.

We purchased a 6-7 foot Black Hills Spruce, it is a beautiful evergreen. We requested to have the tree planted. Everything was done in an excellent manner, from the salesman in the tree lot to the men who came out to plant the tree. All was done in a kind and professional way concerning the men who planted the tree. They did a beautiful job planting the tree and I am so happy. Thank you to the Sawyer Garden Center staff for a wonderful experience.

We've been shopping here for local produce for at least 15 or 20 years now and they have HANDS DOWN the best produce possibly in the entire state of Michigan. No joke. It is really that good. Make sure to buy some 10lb boxes of blueberries to freeze and eat for months later!

This isn't a review of the store itself but one of my employment there. This was a few years ago, so unsure if the environment/people are the same, but I'm sure some of them are. To be fully honest, I have severe anxiety from my experience here that has followed me into every other job I've had. And I just want to warn others not to work as a cashier or in produce unless you know how to be absolutely PERFECT and learn ridiculously fast. I was hired as a cashier, and any time I made a small mistake (because, you know, I'm a human being) I would get berated and it was seen as a huge deal. So because I was so on edge and stressed out while doing my job, it would cause me to mess up more. So they sent me to produce instead. They're incredibly particular about how the fruit/vegetables are set up, cut, etc. Which is fine because a lot of the people who worked in that section were nice but one woman was particularly mean. At one point when I organized the peaches in the basket in a way that ANOTHER STAFF MEMBER HAD TAUGHT ME TO, she yelled "What is wrong with you?” I was this 19 year old kid and I was being talked to in that manner from a grown adult. That shouldn't be tolerated.

Great local spot for fresh produce and specialty foods. They have a huge selection of stonewall kitchen products and a big beer and wine selection. A little pricey but not crazy for being right in town. We come here to load up for weekends hanging around Lake Michigan and find everything we need.

We love this place, we visit every time we are near Sawyer or Bridgman. Fresh fruits and veggies, craft beer, wine, now liquor, plus household goods, clothing, pet products, tourist items, cooking and grilling gear, it's kind of a blast! Not to mention the garden center!

My husband and I came from out of town. We had our 18 pound dog with us. We are respectful dog owners. My husband started walking towards the nursery. We normally ask if we can bring our dog in but didn’t get a chance. A woman started yelling, head shaking , hands flying. Yelling “Sir! No!No! No!” He asked if he could hold her and she kept yelling “No!” I decided to leave as well. I was not going to give my business to a place the belittles people. We respect businesses that do not allow dogs. But there is a more calm and professional way to speak to someone and respectfully say they do not allow dogs.

Bread went moldy before thesell by date that SGC puts on their bread and they wouldn’t take back without the receipt saying I “could have purchased it two weeks ago” instead of when I actually did two days earlier. Point was, it was still moldy before the sell by date and they would not make good with a fresh product in exchange. It’s a small 3.99 hill to die on for sure.

I love this store. I don’t live nearby, but I always try to stop when I’m in the area. Whether you need a gift, a snack, produce, plants, want to treat yourself to almost anything money can buy, or just walk and browse, this is the place to go. The unending store contains a seasonal outdoor shop, gourmet grocery store, seasonal and general home decor/gift shops, kitchen store, wine shop, clothing (including shoes and accessories) store, children’s games and toys, bath and body shop, hardware, greenhouse, and more, and each department has a large selection. I’m a fan!

Nice place with an unusual variety of items. However, the prices on most items are outrageous. For example, a one container of strawberries: $5.99. Pint of raspberries or blackberries: $5.99.

We travel many cities with our dog. I always ask if businesses are pet friendly and I would be happy to carry my small cockapoo. I had just entered the outdoor portion and simply hadn’t found an employee to ask. Next thing, I know I have a dark haired lady yelling “Sir, NO NO NO… “I’ve NEVER had anyone ever YELL across a business at me like that… it was unbelievably unprofessional. The lady hollered, shooshed me out with her hands and showed me the exit to the OUTDOOR floral area.NOTE: A respectful employee/owner or human being can do the same thing in a manner that doesn’t draw attention to their newly arrived customer without making them feel like a POS. Please consider this as I read it commonly happens at this establishment before spending your hard earned money here.We were in from St. Louis MO. Not one business we visited in the area over the last 3 days treated us like this.

I love Sawyer's fabulous selection of fruits and vegetables, wonderful food items, expansive garden center and plants...all spectacular. It's the staff, consistently unhelpful and rude, who make the experience often miserable. Perhaps some training in customer service is long overdue. There's an unmistakable hostile vibe, especially at the cash register, when simple requests are scoffed at and a basic hello is often missing. It gets worse from there.

An amazing selection of apples, many of which you don't see anywhere else. Great for tasting those varieties that are rare and are hard to get. Besides that, the produce appears to be fresh off the farm. Add to that the selection of boutique soaps jams and jellies pies and bakery items and you have a perfect place to pull off the road as a tourist.

Would have given 5 stars but didn't like how staff was not so friendly at the end of the day and eager for us to leave before the actual close time. A couple extra minutes would have been welcomed, there was more I wanted to buy.

Not very pleased after I tried to return a $14 unopened and receipted purchase today. I attempted to return it three times previously after Sawyer reopened after closing, only to be reassured that they would let me return it once covid precautions were lifted. Today was ridiculed by saleswoman for attempting to do just that. It was an OXO product that doesn’t expire. Sawyer just lost some long time customers over $14.
