I absolutely love this place. They always have what I need and they're always there to answer any questions that I have. Their shop is always clean their animals are always well taken care of and that there is the main thing for me even ahead of prices, but even their prices are even really good. I bought three snakes and a savannah monitor and have not had one problem with any of them. I would absolutely recommend this store to anybody.

This has been one of my favorite pet shops to visit. I live hours away from custom creatures, yet my girlfriend and I have made multiple trips up there just to see all of the beautiful creatures they have. My absolute favorite was when they had two baby capybaras on site, not only could we see them but we were able to get up close and personal with them! I highly recommend taking a trip to visit this location for anyone who loves any kind of creature. 5/5 and I will be back hopefully very soon!

I've bought several snakes from them, and had only one "bad" experience. First snake had mites, which was quickly taken care of by me. When I let the store know, they were appreciative of the heads-up and compensated me for that issue. Absolutely no issues with the other 3 snakes that I've purchased. All of them are happy, healthy & good to go.They have a really good selection of snakes, ranging from common ball pythons & corn snakes, to the more rare children's pythons & such. Really good selection of care items as well.The employees are good to talk to, always helpful and friendly.In the half-dozen times or so I've been there, I've never noticed a smell either.Pictured are Firefly & Burnt Marshmallow, both purchased here.

This is a great place! Not only can you purchase exotic animals but your able to view experience and learn about them while shopping for your domestic pets. Very clean and well cared for animals. The best part is the incredibly friendly staff that never act like your a bother! I refer everyone I talk to far and wide!

Custom Creatures was recommended to us by family friends. My mom purchased my hedgehog from them as a surprise for me. (I had been wanting one for the better part of a year.)When we first arrived to pick him up, we were taken back by the foul odor in the store. Granted, it’s an animal store, so smells come with the territory, but after our experience with them, I wonder how the lack of care played into the environment.We approached an employee and let them know we were there to pickup our hedgehog. He pointed us to the hedgehogs with no further support. I was so saddened to see where they were being kept. They had the hedgehogs (two males) together in one space (huge no-no!) and only one heat source, which was a heat lamp that emitted light (another no-no). They had an abundance of what looked like rabbit food, a water bottle, shavings, and an igloo hide. No wheel, no comfortable hide away, no litter pan, etc.We asked a second employee for help, and she said she wouldn’t touch the hedgehogs and went to get a third person, who also didn’t want to touch them. She literally punched holes in the side of a box with a pen, put a couple of handfuls of shavings into the box, and scooped the hedgehog into it with a thickly gloved hand. Then she answered the phone; apparently we were free to leave at that point.The second employee mentioned there was a handout and coupons we should get. We asked for the handout and waited for her to find it and make a copy. Never got the coupons.In reading the handout, it’s full of dangerous misinformation. Hedgehogs cannot properly digest fruits or vegetables, and eating them can cause stomach issues, pain, and diarrhea (the handout says they should have fruits/veggies daily and insects as treats; insects should be their main source of nutrition!). They also cannot be kept in groups, as they will fight to the death for their territory. The only exception is sometimes a mom and baby or two female siblings, never males.Once I was able to gain my new pet’s trust, I realized his nails were overly grown out, his nose was scabbed over, and he was missing an entire toenail on his left foot. He really is the sweetest little guy, and I’m grateful I have him, but it’ll take some time before I forgive myself for allowing us to support this pet shop. It’s clear they are not passionate about their animals, at least not all of them, and I hate that I contributed to their continued operation. Had they not been recommended to us and had my mom not purchased him prior to us arriving, we would’ve walked out within minutes of being in the store.

If I could give this shop less stars, I would. This is the most horrifyingly abusive pet store I’ve ever set foot in. The owner will argue with this review but all you need is to walk in the store. You’ll see. Feces in the food dishes, empty water dishes, dead animals on display. Somebody needs to stop these monsters. Staff was asked to water the anaconda just now. They’re too scared. Stay away from animals altogether then. There’s no excuse for these conditions.ETA Problems with filth and neglect have persisted since the shops reply.

*SIX STAR SERVICE!!!!*I have been looking for a banana ball python for months now. As soon as Custom Creatures had one in stock, I purchased her before her quarantine was over. The breeder sent her with a skin infection and Custom Creatures notified me of this. They took her to the vet and gave her many skin treatments.Unfortunately the infection was too far along at that point and she passed away. At this point, the owner himself got in contact with me to break the news. He searched for this exact morph and ordered my sweet Violet especially for me. He even offered to drive her 45 minutes to my house to make up for the trouble.I just brought Violet to the vet at Animal Alley and Doctor Van Dale confirmed she is in perfect health. The health and safety of their animals is TOP PRIORITY for the staff of Custom Creatures. They are knowledgeable, easy to work with, and very pleasant to talk to.I am so thankful for the staff and management of Custom Creatures. Shout out to James, the manager, for being so flexible and accommodating. It is clear that the animals are their priority, not just the profit. I will forever be a customer loyal to this business. Absolute 6 star review!!!

This place was recommended to me by my sister a few times. I went today with my 3 year old. I was greeted by a friendly worker who was nothing but kind and genuine and all smiles. My daughter loved seeing the wallaby, touching the tortoises and seeing the fish. I was amazed at how crystal clear the tanks were. I've been to a few other exotic pet stores (Florida, north Carolina, Pennsylvania) and Custom creations was the cleanest, most organized exotic petshop I've been in.Thank you for giving my daughter an awesome experience!!!! 🦎🐍🐊🐸🐠🐹🐰🦔

Very disappointed in the total lack of professionalism from this store. Two months ago my son and I came in for a visit, mind you we come from out of the area, a 2 hour drive one way. While we were there my son fell in love with the albino rat snake in store. I called back two weeks later, still available so I asked about financing and the next day put down the deposit. I made my payments diligently every week until she was paid in full. With my last payment made I told them I would be in the next Saturday to pick her up as I don’t live locally. At that time there was no issue with it. I got a call on that Friday, the day before pickup, demanding to know when I was picking her up as she was paid in full. Again I explained I would be in the next day to get her.Everything was fine day of pick up. They got us our snake, we spent a bit of time looking around and we came home. She ate well upon getting her home, couldn’t ask for better. Then in one of our routine checks we discovered 5 days after bringing her home that she has snake mites. I immediately called the store, speaking to 3 different employees before getting the manager on the phone all 3 employees told me 3 different stories. One said they knew they had snakes in quarantine with mites in house, one told me they didn’t know they had mites in house and yet another told me that they had just discovered them and were working on contacting everyone. Finally got the manager on the phone, they’re giving us a sample size bottle of mite treatment. He claimed he would email me a treatment guide yesterday and 24 hours later I still have not received it. Thankfully we are members of the Michigan Herpetological Society and have friends who rescue reptiles who were able to help us start treatment to give her some relief.Overall very disappointed in the service we received and will not be doing business with this establishment going forward once our treatment for our girl is received. I can concur that the staff are afraid of the Anacondas which were in the tank above our girl. We were told the same thing as they are aggressive. Worried about them now having mites as well. Very sad turn out as we loved this establishment previously but putting our other reptiles at risk by not telling us about the snake mites is unprofessional. Thankfully we’ve kept her quarantined away and will continue to monitor our reptiles to make sure there is no cross contamination and infection.

Just brought out family in yesterday and had a great experience! James was very patient and helpful with all our questions, very knowledgeable on the various pets in the store as well. Our kids got to have 2 animal encounters , and they talked about how great of a day they had the whole ride home ! Hope to be in again soon , Thanks and God bless

I got the GRUMPIEST little tomato frog at this adorable shop! I love him so much! Place was busy but the staff found time to be polite, informative and fantastic with both me and my new best friend! 100/10 I will be coming back. They have great deals and lots of options. I hope they get more Tomato frogs!

This place is absolutely the coolest pet shop around, I kid you not. We are a well-traveled family and let me tell you, this place is very unique. They have a long list of very cool and unusual pets avaliable for purchase. During your visit you'll likely see the super chill wallaby making its way around the store and if that doesn't interest ya, then maybe the giant tortoise will do the trick. Or perhaps one of the many other unique creatures available for purchase, really too much to list. This rarity in the pet industry is definitely worth a visit! Custom Creatures has a pet that fits everyone's personality/interests. Very friendly and personable staff as well, which is a rarity anymore!

I will never buy another pet from this company. I bought a cockatiel almost 2 years ago and he has been the best. It was time I wanted to get him a friend. I went and got another bird, I didn’t even have her for 2 weeks and my kids and I woke up on Thanksgiving with her dead. I messaged the shop that day. They asked me to submit a bunch of information about the bird so I gave them everything. I even called the vet office to ask about getting an autopsy. The company told me they would send all the information to management for evaluation and I have never heard from them since. The vet office even told me the day before she died they saw her and they remembered her because of how sharp her chest was which indicated she was starving. The shop had nothing to say. All she would do when I got him was sleep and eat. They act like they care so much about the animals but in my opinion it is only if they can get it back and resell it. Because otherwise it’s not the owners problem because they can’t make money off of an animal if it’s dead.

Honestly one of the nicest pet shops I've EVER been in. Super clean and no foul odors like some places in town I won't mention. The animals are extremely well kept and very healthy looking. The owner and his staff are great as well. They have no problem talking to you about any of there animals and letting you get hands on with them as well. I highly recommend checking this pet store out!!

Sickening, at first I was totally in love with this place but the more that I find out the more disappointed and disgusted I am. It’s the lies, and the money hungry actions. I truly feel this place is all about money and the lies revolve around money. If you want a place to buy a sick animal this is your go too. Swapping out animals without cleaning the cage is so unprofessional and a good day for animals to be unhealthy. Not to mention, good way for all the animals to have mites but they already do anyways.

MITES MITES MITES. Do NOT make your purchases here they continue to sell animals with mites, and don't make an effort to take care of them. They wouldn't have told us they had mites if we didn't see them and ask. I had issues with this place since day one. Ran by children and people who don't have the knowledge they claim they do. Issue #1, paid $50 for overnight shipping and it came THREE days LATE with my snake barley breathing and with mouth rot. Issue #2 was they sold me a snake with the beginning stages of mouth rot AND MITES. Has now turned into a problem that they couldn't care less about. The sold me this snake on purpose because its not healthy. AND THEY WONT DO ANYTHING TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT. Liked them at first, but they showed their true colors. If I could give the Zero stars I would. Won't ever be there again. Be cautious with this place and wash your hands when you leave!....... I want nothing more from you guys. I'll never be going thru you guys again. Horrible experience

Love the hard work you put into your Business and Love and Care of your animals and birds Etc, what is annoying is the Store is over full with people and no one will move so you can actually see the birds and or animals. I have been in there many times and people are so Happy to see animals they have never seen before but too many times i have seen kids especially climbing in with said animals in the floor Corrals and always afraid for the animals well being and kids. And lets face it you know as well as i that if the annoyed animal bites of course it will be the animals fault not the Human that has teased them.

This is the second time my girlfriend and I have been to this shop and have been greeted by two baby capybaras. They also had new baby foxes which were cuddly and tiny. It’s always nice when the crowd isn’t as busy, the animals seemed very relaxed today. The workers were helpful as always and we had a great time!

A lot of animals look sick or poorly taken care of. They had a mother rabbit with a baby on the floor. Lots of cages were poorly cleaned or too small for their creatures. Fish were kept in dirty, dark tanks with lots of dead fish in them. Some of the tanks weren't even filtered. They had alligators and turtles in unheated tanks. These are not safe conditions for their animals. I understand a pet store isn't going to smell good, but if it smells like pee as soon as you walk in: red flag.

This was our favorite pet store over the last year, and my kids and I visited regularly (usually weekly). I actually interviewed to work here last year, and when I didn't get the job, I offered my help and some feedback anyway because I raise animals. For instance- the puffers all had fin rot because they get stressed without enough cover and become highly aggressive, several tarantulas were mislabeled and all were mature males which won't last long at all (I informed the manager that they are MM and will likely only live a few months at best- he was unaware and said he'd pass that on to the owner), overstocked fish tanks (literally 20 full size Jack Dempseys that require a large tank EACH). Just a few things that could go a long way. And obviously they have my contact info if they wanted help.Unfortunately things have gone downhill a LOT over the last few months.The smell of ammonia today was overwhelming. The store is insanely crowded. There are sick animals in over crowded enclosures. Bettas with fin rot in filthy cups. And the fact that they brought in rabbits before Easter is irresponsible and just tells me that they are more concerned with making money than animal welfare.I'm posting only because I've tried to offer help in store before, and these animals deserve better. Hopefully this will actually make a difference finally.

My kids and I go in here at least once a week. It’s such an amazing store with a wide variety of animas you’d never think you’d see. My daughter loves the snakes we’ve gotten from them. The staff is also so nice and informative.

I came in today 2/17/24 around 6pm with my wife and kids. We didn't stay too long. We asked to hold a iguana and one worker declined our request because even she thought some iguanas were dead. After witnessing a few dead and severely malnourished iguanas on top of seeing a veiled chameleon fight for it's last breath. They also have a red mccaw parrot by the front counter that is absolutely stressed beyond belief. So We decided to leave. Majority of the enclosures lacked cleanliness, water and food. My wife and I were disgusted with the quality of care and attention to detail. They've certainly gone down hill since our last visit to the store. This is by far the worst pet store I've been too. Staff seemed unbothered by all of this. I hope the owner sees this and will clean this store up. I will be contacting the proper people/agencies to make a report on your store!

Custom Creatures isn't very big but the variety of unusual animals they have is exceptional. They have a lot of supplies for "normal" pets too. The staff was attentive, educational and friendly. I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area.

A very interesting and diverse shop with some unusual species and what appears to be well informed staff. Friendly and accommodating. Nice variety of herpetofauna.In two separate visits over a 7 month period I did notice that they sell Pantherophis vulpinus. Not sure if it's the eastern or western subspecies, both of which occur in Michigan, but unfortunately, both forms are recognized as threatened species by the DNR in michigan, thereby affording them state protection status.I'm not sure if they can be legally collected or sold in state without consent of proper authority, so they should probably check state statute before purchasing or selling.In conclusion, on both visits none of the employees were even aware of what species it was or that it even occurs in the state.There should be a better level of oversight concerning their livestock.

I drove 2 hours to come to this pet store and was not disappointed! To my surprise, they had some new capybaras and that made my whole day! The wallaby was super cute. I love that we can interact with the animals. It makes the experience so special! I will definitely be returning. My only complaint would be the amount of people that crowd the animals seem to make them a little overwhelmed.

These poor animals were in horrendous condition today. We visited this pet store months ago and it was nothing like it was today. The 9-10 puppies ALL were profusely vomiting and uncontrollable diarrhea- the employee literally couldn’t keep up with the messes, the puppies were eating each other’s vomit, laying in their diarrhea, rabbits had no water in their small cage, ferrets were all laying in diarrhea and vomit. The place was disgusting. I don’t know what’s happening, but it appears to be neglect. I could go on. I have evidence if the owner wants to combat my review :)Kindly,Dr. Smith
