I can't say enough good things about Royal Tropical Fish and Bird. About 3 weeks ago I bought 2 budgies. The ladies working there are very helpful and thorough. All the birds and fish are well cared for. The budgies I bought were so tame, sweet and healthy. They adjusted quickly to their new home. Day 1, the birds let me touch and pick them up; by day 3 they started to hop up on my finger to come out of the cage. They bring such joy to me and my children. I definitely will be buying 2 more budgies soon. I'm waiting to see if they get a male violet; which is a more rare color. They also sell their own special blend of seed, pellets, dried egg and oats. Parking is limited and you may need to wait a few minutes for help because they take time with each customer, but don't let this stop you.

Been going to this location about 45 yrs.. wont go any where else! They know their stuff! My cockatiel is 23 yrs old . He’s healthy and just as feisty as the day I found him. I believe it’s because of the food I buy from Royal. Fresh and special blended for him.

Always a friendly staff and I feel at home when I come in. I've purchased several baby birds from them and they have always been very helpfull and knowledgeable, they are even very excited to see then again when I bring them back for a spa day. The product brings you in but the staff keeps you coming back.

Best bird store I've visited. The owner and employees were very nice and let me go behind the employees only and I also was allowed to hold the birds. Very nice birds, and cool ones. They had a cockatoo that was named peaches. It was one of the coolest cockatoos I've seen. Will visit again. If you live near it you should take a visit. 10/10

Adorable shop that's a lot bigger inside than you'd think! Beautiful, healthy fish (didn't look at birds or would never have left!) and plants, didn't see any pest snails anywhere and all the tanks were very clean and well-lit! Superb employees and treatment, too. It was such an unexpected gift and treasure to have found this place! I ended up with a tire track eel, very happy and surprisingly interactive! That speaks to some really kind treatment in the shop, and I just loved how much they care about the well-being of everyone there, fish, birds, even tiny little shrimps and snails!

I recently got back into the aquarium hobby. Royal Tropical (as well as their location "Highland Tropical" in Waterford) has stocked all three of my tanks. Excellent selection of healthy fish and plant, plus KNOWLEDGEABLE staff. The owner Matt takes the time to answer my questions and troubleshoot any issues I may have. Keeping fish is an engaging hobby that requires creativity and a little science, and I highly suggest it to anyone!

Been coming here for over 10 years and just love them! They helped my boyfriend surprise me for my birthday with a baby cockatiel that I had fallen in love with at the store. When I came back to see him I found out my boyfriend bought him for me and he was mine! Wonderful people and they really know their stuff. Highly recommend them!

I’ve walked into this store a few times. They seem like a nice smaller business. There aren’t too many people working and those that are were running around trying to make sure all customers were taken care of. My only issue was that when I came to the store both times, they didn’t have what I needed. Which was snails. They also seemed to have a few tanks that weren’t the cleanest. It’s hard with fish but their prices seemed quite high and the stock of the fish didn’t seem consistent.

The lady was really nice and sold me a bird for a very fair price they are private owned so they definitely not as cheap as pet smart or petco but unlike those u actually get to see and get close and touch the birds

Excellent small mom and pop style pet store, been around for year's. lot's of stuff crammed into a small area. Nice selection of fancy fish and bird's. Reasonable prices on supplies, friendly staff and owner. Must stop by and check it out. Very nice pictures painted on the building. Clean animal environments. Bulk food bins. Small reptiles even. Lot's of bird toy's supplies and fish assortment.

We take our 2 Macaws and our Conure here every 6-8 weeks for a nail, beak and wing clip, the people who work here are very knowledgeable and very good with our bird's. I strongly suggest this business, they know what they're doing.

I just stood at the front desk for 15 minutes. Walked to the back room and asked for help where 3 employees were just standing and talking. Went back to the front continued to wait another 10 minutes as they just ignored me so I just walked out. 4 employees 1 customers still no help is ridiculous not ro mention all my goldfish from them came very sick.

First impression was that it's a very cool fish shop with a decent freshwater selection. Then I wanted to buy some fishies which wasn't a problem till they couldn't catch em after 2 minutes and told me to come back next week. Kinda older lady there was very abrasive and treated me like she didn't want my business so that's fine

I got my birds here, and I continue to bring them in for their food (love their custom mixed bulk blends), regular grooming (beak, nails), and boarding when I have to go on trips without them. Everyone is so nice and knowledgeable. Owning a bird is a huge commitment - it's nothing like owning a dog or cat. I'm especially grateful for the education before I purchased, and the advice they give me now, years later. All my birds are healthy and happy.

I got my Sun Conure from this store and he is the sweetest thing ever. The employee's seem very well informed about parrot care and behavior, and there is a lot of bird care food, toys and a few cages here as well. I would rate 5 stars but there is little to no parking and its in such a night traffic area that its hard to find of you don't know what you are looking for. I found it by accident the first time, and trust me I am glad I did. I have been back a few times..I wish I could get some of their cockatiel babies they are so adorable.

Amazing fish selection, that all were in clean and healthy tanks. Also has a great variety of hard scape wood and rocks. Most of the wood I purchased suck after an hour of soaking (which is fantastic and rare!), but they did need a longer soak due to having a lot of tannin leeching. Staff was very friendly and helpful!

April 2021: Went back and happy to see bettas in tanks or at least the usual cups!This review is only pertaining to fish.A lot more expensive, comparing stuff like seachem prime, fish food, and filters. Sad to see bettas in tiny bowls.Impossible to find parking on busy days.In response to the owner: The bowls I saw were smaller than the standard cereal bowl, filled with glass rocks and no air pump. They were situated near the front counter of the store.

My children and I had a great experience here. It was a very clean organized establishment with plenty of helpful and attentive people working. I picked up some beautiful live plants to add to our aquariums. I will definitely be back soon to pick up a tank mate for our betta.

My cockatiel really seems mellow after he has his "sauna" treatment atRoyal. I recommend getting the year package. It includes beak and nails trimmed; along with a massage etc. It can be done as frequent as you choose for the year.ALL employees are great-they are kind to my bird and educating me every time I go!

My brother purchased a Pineapple Green Cheek Conure (named Harold) from here and we absolutely love coming here to get him groomed, purchase food and toys, etc. We especially love Mary, one of the employees who works there. She is super friendly, knowledgeable, and is so nice to Harold. She took such great care of him when he was there.

Amazing bird store. Staff is extremely knowledgeable. Unlike many pet stores they have gained the trust of their birds, employees will regularly have the birds perched on them. Fresh seed and a TON of toys to entertain your new family member!

Store Is Amazing Management is Great , Girls there are nice and knowledgeable about all the fish. For anyone starting up there own indoor aquarium this is the place the go . Tank is well maintained because of them.

We got our green quaker baby from here. The staff is amazing. And honesty it's fun to just to to see all the birds and reptiles they have. I'm so glad I went here to get my second Quaker. They made sure my baby was ready to go home before they let me take it home.
