DO NOT BUY YOUR REPTILES FROM HERE! I am seriously pissed off sitting here writing this. The brown haired woman at Great Lakes Reptiles sold me a sick baby ball python yesterday. When we left, she seemed a little weak so we were cautious. We got her home and took care of her. I was so excited to have my first snake. I named her Cleo.Today she died. When we woke up this morning, she was not moving her neck and this concerned us. We brought her back to the store and the woman immediately put the blame on us, giving us a rude response and an overall very defensive demeanor. Then when we brought up the bad reviews about their store, she blamed it on her ex boyfriend, claiming it was him trying to get back at her. When we asked to be in contact with the breeder, she informed us that the breeder doesn’t like to be in contact the public, which I found suspicious. Regardless, She told us to keep the snake in heat, which we have been, so we took her home and monitored her.Not even an hour ago the snake was moving around with her mouth wide open. It looked like she was writhing in pain, I didn’t know what to do. just watched a snake I had for a day and spent over $300 on die. Seriously so sickening and sad. Please do not buy from here. I’m heartbroken. She was just a baby. :(Update: my baby had a respiratory infection. This establishment clearly does not care about their animals and it’s disgusting. They only care about money.

Small store but lot's of stuff in there. Smelled really musky/moldy but that was probably the bedding? Nice people but I had to leave ASAP because of the really bad odor, was so bad I couldn't breathe. Kinda expensive but nice stock. Looked clean, but wow, that smell....... I won't be back, because of the smell but maybe other people won't be affected by it? Nice place for SHORT visits.

I bought a puppy from here back in July was told it was a lab-shepard mix. well since then had a veterinarian tell me she looked Husky. Which lead me to test her genetics, turned out that the veterinarian was right! My dog is in this order a Pitbull, Siberian husky, Rottweiler, and a touch of German shepherd.....not at all what I thought I was getting into.I highly recommend testing ur dogs from here the dog may be a surprise dog.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING.Ashley was so knowledgeable and walked us through everything. As first time lizard owners, this was so helpful for us! 10/10 recommend

We were very pleased with our visit to this store. There is a large selection of really awesome creatures. The lady at the counter was very helpful with the questions we had about our purchase. We came home with a giant centipede and a gorgeous monitor lizard. Prices were better than fair. Would definitely come back

I highly recommend avoiding buying animals from this store and even supporting them all together. The cages were filthy, the animals looked skinny and sickly. A rat was labored breathing and dying, all for customers to see. They are housing guinea pigs together with rabbits which is so wrong in itself. Just everything about this place is sad. I felt so disgusted being in there.

I am very happy that I came down here to see the vet tech. She was very kind and helped me with our 5 year old turtle. She was extremely knowledgeable and I learned something new from her. I would not go here. I had been getting feeder rats here because it was the only place around that had them for a while.I walked in and have never liked the vibe. And I’ve seen some animals for sale there that should never be in a pet shop.My most recent trip, I waited in the lobby for 5 mins knocked on the door and was greeted by a lady that was seemingly on some form of substance. I don’t really have any other way to put other than, you know when someone is on something.I then asked her a simple question about snakes that I very much knew the answer and she gave me some wildly incorrect answer. I have found a new place for feeder rats almost immediately before returning home down the street. Will never go back there and my heart hurts for some of the animals in that places care. Some of these reviews break my heart.

This shop is horrible. Don't go there they will take your money. Don't try to buy any puppies they will not give you the paperwork. They are layers they keep the puppies in dirt. I had a bad experience. The lady the manager is horrible she is so rude in addition to all the above facts. The smell stinks

ANIMAL ABUSE!!!! CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH THEYRE ABUSING AND NEGLECTING ANIMALS. I went into this store so excited and left in tears over the lack of humanity these people have. It’s hard to find even one enclosure that’s even a LITTLE like it should be. Tropical animals are in bone dry enclosures. Arboreal animals are on the ground. Saw more DEAD animals than I could count on my hands!!!!! INSANITY. A ton more were on the brink of death or not far behind. Skin and bones. Not to mention backyard breeding!!! How do you guys sleep at night? Sick. DO BETTER. BE BETTER. NEVER EVER EVER GIVE THIS PLACE A PENNY. SICK DISGUSTING HUMANS

I worked here briefly a few years ago. Was paid under the table which I'm sure they still do. Never met the owner even after 6 months of working there. They had a sick basilisk that instead of being treated was discounted repeatedly until it died. They also have baby alligators in the back that I was told to call 'water lizards' so they could be sold. All animals are overpriced and poorly kept. They also keep the animals that don't make it inside of the freezer with the frozen mice and you'd be shocked how many dead they actually have inside of there. The spider guy who worked there decided to not work for 1-2 weeks and in the meantime all of the jumping spiders died and were left in their enclosures until I finally cleaned them out. Don't buy from here, you may think you're rescuing the animals but you're just enabling them to stay in business.

Never opens on time. Prices are quite a bit higher than other local retailers, and the animals are kept in enclosures that are far too small for their wellbeing. Feeder prices are decent. I won't buy animals here, but will buy feeders.

I discovered this gem shortly after finding 2 lizards in their terrariums dumped at the curb. The manager was helpful in helping me identify the lizards and educating me about their care needs. The prices for mealworms, superworms and crickets is lower than other stores I've seen and these feeders are always vigorous and healthy. Plus the traffic light at the entrance to their shared parking lot makes it easy to get in and out, even during rush hours!

Stay away from Ashley. I went in this store hoping to get an environment for my new chameleon Hatchling and ASHLEY, saw me coming. She immediately loaded me up with $400 worth stuff that heavily stresses my new chameleon. I should've known when she was so short with answers but quick to ring up so many useless and hazardous things. I would stay away from this store especially if ASHLEY is there!

3/12/22: Went in to answer the big "Now Hiring" sign in the window and stood there listening to two women complain and finally said "do you work here" and almost immediately the younger one went : "yeah, hold on" and out up a finger. ( this entire time, she was glancing at me as if I was a part of the conversation? Then once I tried to talk, she immediately shut me down as if she was waiting for the opportunity, it was very strange)After 10 minutes of walking around and listen to them talk to and about other people, I finally left.The animals cages seemed as if they haven't even been cleaned since my last visit. It stunk very bad and I am very familiar with Reptiles so I knw they're not the cleanest animals but this was bad.I can't get over how mean and negative those women are... I just wonder why?These 2 were extremely negative and im not sure if it's personal against me or if they just treat everyone and everything like this but ill be back to monitor them : )Last week:Such an amazing and spiritual experience! The Energy was positive and the Reptiles (my babies : ) were receptive. An iguana lunged at me and a few snakes were very active aswell as a Skink.They seemed healthy and happy and just waiting for a nice owner. They did seem cramped and the place was very dirty. Maybe they're not healthy?Was hoping to talk to the guy about possibly working there but they were busy and the Energy/mood shifted so ill be back again.Edit #3: I returned and could feel the coldness and that the employees did not trust me.not only did they not engage me for my entire 15 minutes but they all stayed in the front of the store and left me in the back, alone with the animals so I started cleaning the Tortoise cage and tending to them because they just scream "neglect" and then finally they sent the little mixed girl back there to ask me to leave and she couldn't even keep a straight face while saying "we seen you on camera breaking store rules... " I interrupted her and told her that some things are more important than money and that I can see right through the obfuscation and that she hasn't seen the last of me but I will leave and I havent been back since.What are they protecting and what is more important than the health of the animals? "Money" is the lazy and obvious answer but there's something more going on here. To be continued...

Fantastic help from the whole crew, all the advice you could ask for, I have purchased a male bearded dragon (Spike) and a Russian Tortise (Blastoise) both of which were very healthy on purchase and are both going strong months later. Cannot tell how many time I've needed roaches and had to show at open to grab some, always greeted with a smile, and quick to run the sale. This pretty much is the only place I go for reptile supplies, and it is a 45min-1hr round trip, love you guys.

I just stood in the front lobby for five mins before seeing a single person. I called and even told the person I was in the lobby and needed help.A little boy about 8/9 years old walks out from the back eating a sucker playing Fortnite pops up a camping chair, points to the back and says “I don’t know where my mom is.” And shrugs, I asked him to go get her and he tells me she’s “back there.” And points to the back room.I call the store several times and no answer.What the hell.

Took my daughter to purchase a snake and the lady was so friendly and knowledgeable. Helped my daughter find a snake she immediately bonded with. They never tried to over sell me on anything just a bunch of free knowledge and kindness.

Absolutely fantastic! Great selection and variety. The prices are competitive and they stay stocked! When it gets busy, just be patient… the shop is not huge. Service is great and the animals are very well maintained. Highly recommended!

Went in for a snake for my kid. First time reptile owners (as an adult anyway). Kid's been researching for a year. I read a review about the store smelling. There is a very mild smell of clean woodchips or animal bedding. The store is clean. The tanks are clean. The tortoise chilling unhelpfully but magnificently at the register looked beautiful.Amanda was really helpful in recommending a beautiful kid-friendly rat snake and setting us up with the whole snake kit and patiently explaining to me what we needed (kid is a responsible 8, so she knows "bedding" but not which type is the best or how many bags or what the right size tank is given the snake friend my daughter took home). Amanda answered my questions and praised my kid for being well-informed and prepared.We were able to set everything up and move him in pretty quickly at home. He happily hunted down his mouse a day early and is working on swallowing it as my daughter goes to bed. So clearly our new resident has a healthy appetite.
