Stopped in to try some goodies. The lady who helped us asked if we wanted lunch first and we declined. We ordered a couple fudge brownies, a peanut butter brownie, a cinnamon roll, a sprinkle donut, and a coffee cake muffin. Our kids all chose something and they certainly enjoyed their treats! I got the brownie and peanut butter brownie, and both were delicious. My husband got the muffin and thought it was very good as well. We’ll be back for sure and service was nice. It was a bit dark inside, only relying on the lights from the windows, I would have more indoor lighting for ambiance. We ended up taking our goodies to go to eat at home after we ate lunch.

Really nice Diner, great for a home cooked breakfast any day of the week! Fantastic friendly service with a smile and warm filling food prepared quickly for a dine in or take out! Enjoy their lovely pastries and baked goods with your morning coffee or stop in for a super lunch sandwich! Limited indoor seating with overflow seating on covered porch! This place is absolutely adorable! We ordered the biscuits and gravy with some over easy eggs and some assorted pastries. It was affordable, good portion sizes, and tasted really great. The staff is friendly and in addition to good food it was a fun and positive experience. I ordered my breakfast, picked out pastries from the case, and looked around the shop while I waited for my food. It was only a 5 minute drive for South Higgins state park.Edit: went back for more! We got the country omelette, another coffee, and some more pastries (remembered to take a picture this time). So good!

RUDE FROM THE MOMENT WE PULLED IN THE PARKING LOT! I told them I had a gluten and dairy (milk) allergy - they suggested the over easy eggs with meat and hash browns. I told them to give my husband the toast that came with the meal. The dish came out with toast on my plate touching other food. Owner was very rude when I told her I couldn’t have it now - she said I should have said that I was HIGHLY allergic to gluten so then they would have known to keep it off the plate!! I TOLD THEM TO GIVE IT TO MY HUSBAND!! ALso, as I was eating my eggs and hash browns I could taste butter!! When I asked if they used butter - the answer was well yes we do!! UNBELIEVABLE!!

Stop the car and grab one of the best meals you're going to have this month. Less than 10 minutes from the I-75 exit, The bird and the bee offers excellent donuts and muffins along with breakfast and lunch options that will blow your mind. Ideally located on the east side of Higgins Lake, this is one of those Northern Michigan treasures you'll want to make part of the family tradition. Arrive early before the baked goods go away and make a great start to the day. Ample parking, easy access, comfortable seating for families this place has it all. The front market has a fine selection of local goods and delicious options that you can take home and use in the kitchen. I highly recommend this place for breakfast and lunch and the best cup of coffee you will find in the Northwoods.

Had the Higgins Lake hash browns for lunch. Tasty! Marble rye toast just topped it off. Will definitely go back, maybe will try one of their flavored coffees or teas next time. Great little shop area in back.

Every village, town or city has that one special place, the warm fuzzy kinda place that just says “ you are welcomed here”, and that is the Bird and the Bear. Maybe it is their willingness to have gluten free food, maybe it is their salads or out of this world baked goods, maybe it is their amazing staff ( counter help, owner or dishwasher), but whatever it is, it keeps you coming back for more. From the moment you walk into the shop and are overtaken by the aroma of sweetness, followed by smiles by all of the staff and your journey is rounded out by a genuine thank you and appreciation for your patronage, you know you have found your newest happy place!

Just had their turkey melt. Amazing, and packed with flavor. Normally a tuna melt was our go too, but now we have a new favorite. Also their raspberry filled donuts are to die for. But don't buy them all, save some for the rest of us. Better then a birthday cake.😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Friendly staff, even when it is close to closing time. Would give them 10 stars if I could. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤10 hearts instead! I love this place.

Stopped for breakfast, had the country omelette and biscuits and gravy, both were awesome! Had to order a side of eggs and bacon for the kid, it wasn't on the menu as a meal. Doughnuts looked good, bought some for later. Loved looking around at the merchandise too, lots of good stuff.

Get there early! Their delicious donuts are very popular and sell out if you wait too late. Grab and go sandwiches are perfect for a relaxing day on the lake or river. We take them along when we are paddling.👍👍👍

The owner of the Driftwood Resort told us about The Bird and the Bear Grill, so we decided to check it out. I am so glad we did. The food was great as was the friendliness of the owners. Nancy was wonderful. She greeted us like we were family. It felt like being in someones kitchen. Some cute and unique items for sale, including ground coffee with the flavor of the day. We will certainly come back when we get this way again next January. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Have been here many times over the last year or so, the level of freshness blows me away each time. Owners are very friendly and they offer great products in their market. My favorite meal is the Mitt Muffin. So good!

Mmmm! Thanks for the fantastic breakfast and delicious caramel pecan coffee. We can't wait to try the donuts we got to go also. It's a very clean restaurant with friendly staff and owners and a cozy atmosphere. The food was very fresh, hot, homemade, and reasonably priced. We will definitely go back when we are in town from Ypsilanti:)

My husband and I stopped at this very cute cafe on our way to Traverse City. We didn't know what to expect and thought we would find ourselves at a nice, family diner. Instead, we found ourselves at something like that, but better!Unpretentious sandwiches that, IMO only, are better than Zingerman's. An array of local baked goods like freshly baked donuts, and other items like jams.We ate out back on the picnic tables and it was lovely; the perfect respite after a long drive. The owners were friendly, and we would highly recommend this as a stop for all travelers. We hope to be back someday.

We truly enjoyed our experience at the bird and the bear restaurant and bakery. The food was wonderful my wife had breakfast and I had lunch. They have a very quaint little local in Michigan based store within their restaurant. Jimmy and Nancy make thee this place very warm and inviting. The dinner is classic and very clean. The food and baked goods were fresh and homemade delicious. We highly recommend it.

The food is always cooked to perfection. Have tried almost everything on their menu and have yet to be disappointed. The coffee is always amazing which means alot because Im always disappointed at other places. The pastries are delicious. Honestly cant buy them better any where else. Me and my kids come here often and honestly cant say enough about it. We absolutely love it here. Its our favorite place. Nancy and Jim are are always welcoming and so friendly. Has a nice cozy feeling and its the 1st time I have experienced such a feeling at a dining place. They have done a great job on the layout and the decor. I could sit in here for hours. Glad we live within walking distance ❤

THE PERFECT place for breakfast or a cup of coffee and a donut (or both). The service, portions, tastes, friendliness, wait times, everything.. perfect. I love bringing our friends from out of town and watching them just gobble up the taste of "up north". I definitely recommend this place very highly.
