First time at south Higgins and planned this Halloween one 1 year ago. Site 83 is huge! Our family absolutely loved it! So many activities all weekend for the kids plus trick or treating was amazing! Park closed the roads down for the trick or treat making it really safe. Can’t wait to come back.

Nice little place to pick up items that you may want to take on the lake with you. Pretty good selection of different things to suite most tastes. The prices were fair, and the store was very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were glad that they were there to be able to shop for snacks and drinks, which made our day on the lake more enjoyable

This is a good sized store close to the beach and the campground. It has several types of Tshirts, Swimming accessories, beach towels, Take away food like bread, sausages, snacks, sandwiches, icecream and beverages. There are several beach itesm to rent like Canoes / Kayaks at $10 per hour, Floating mats at $15 per hour and a few other items. They provide firewood too for the campers at $8 a bundle which is delivered to the campsite as this store is approximately half a mile away from the western loop of the campsite.

We are locals nice evening out pizza and ice cream at the beach. Excellent service, friendly staff. Pizza was delicious and pippin hot. Cute Higgins lake apparel in the store. Will be back again soon thank you park store!!!!

Love the fact that they now deliver wood to the campsites 7 days a week. Very helpful for those with disabilities who can't necessarily carry heavy bundles long distances. Kudos! 👍

The showers at South Higgins were cold at 4:30 in the afternoon. No toilet paper in the ladies bathroom at that time. The bathrooms needed repairs and we're not very clean, yet workers are painting benches,3 on one bench? The workers ride around on gators going wayyyy too fast.There are kids and animals in the park.

Mostly kids working there. The boat rental guy / store manager did me wrong by not honoring what another employee told me they could do for a boat rental. Told me "its not my mistake, not costing me money". Obviously the customer isn't always right here. Also, tried to accused me of propeller damage upon return so make sure you inspect and take pictures. Wont deal with this guy or place again.

I was always told how beautiful and clean this lake was. DON'T BELIEVE IT!! This lake was the worst lake I've ever been to. ACTUALLY the lake itself was nice. EVERYTHING surrounding it was just nasty.The bathrooms were filthy, the grills were filled with old wet coals and cigarette butts. There were tons of spiderwebs and dead bugs stuck to all the lighting. The people in the snack store were VERY rude. There was an Ice truck sitting there running for 2-1/2 hours that was obnoxious and loud. The beach had trash on it, and geese were eating people's stuff right off thier blankets and pooping on them.We made the best of the time we were here but will NEVER go back or recommend to anyone.And last where we were sitting 2 of the 6 of us ended up with ticks on them.

Horribly managed boat rental service. Rent one at B&B instead. I reserved a boat months in advance for a reunion. South store called me at 8:30pm on a Friday, when all my other options were closed, to tell me that my reserved boat was under maintenance and would not be available. They offered no other options or explanation. When I called back first thing in the morning to put my name on a cancellation list, the story changed. We now could not get our reserved boat because for over a month it has been on hold and slotted for new carpet to make it a pet friendly boat. They knew for a month and gave me a few hours notice. Ruined our weekend until B&B saved the day. If it is an important weekend for you, reserve elsewhere.

Negatives: Too expensive, camp sites too close together, no water hook ups where we were located, inadequate lighting at night, long walk to restrooms.....also swim area looked inadequate for the number of campers.Positives: Friendly staff, lovely woodsy atmosphere. Lake is scenic at sunset. Decent quiet time hours, easy access off I-75.

Have went since I was a kid and now I take my kids. I absolutely love this place and the beautiful beaches. It is always well kept and clean. The staff is veey friendly, attentive, and helpful. Playgrounds are fun and safe for the little ones. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great time.

This store has been here as long as I can remember and is a great visit while at Higgins Lake. They stock camping condiments and supplies. The icecream is good and reasonably priced. A busy place in the summer but worth the wait. A must see when staying at the campground.

The State Park Store is probably the best state park store you will find in all of Michigan. And, I am not exaggerating. They have ice cream that is served by a friendly staff in cones so huge my kids can hardly finish it. I wait all year to get my serving of Michigan Pot Hole ice cream. All their food is made to order. Free wi-fi. There are pontoon and kayak rentals, camping supplies, gifts, .... The management has done an amazing job over the last few years to bring this store back to the legendary north woods state park general store that it was 30 years ago. Kudos!

Campground was good.... The store needs some help... Went at opening time and was met by overflowing trash receptacles that obviously were left from the day before!!! Bees were everywhere Due to the rotting trash!!! Could not escape them even down by water.. very disappointed to see such a beautiful area trashy like this because of laziness... 😢

I recently had an unpleasant experience with the store. They were unable to fulfill a reservation for a pontoon made 4 weeks in advance. They offered multiple excuses but no apologies. They acted as if it were unreasonable for us to be disappointed, and they invalidated our experience further by noting there was no financial loss to us. It is true that we had not yet paid for the rental, but some of us traveled from out of state. The owners offered no recompense for the inability to fulfill the reservation. Rather, we were met by an incessant diatribe regarding their lack of profit on current rental prices. Unimpressive to say the least!!

Most relaxing place on earth. (Except 4th of July) and the ice cream is Un-be-leav-able! Get a double scoop and sit on the porch watching the beach, people and boats. It is a perfect moment at sunset but grab your bench early if you are there over the 4th. Any other time you are guaranteed a seat. Hard working customer service so don't forget to tip. They are working hard while you are chillaxin.

Great park. But Rangers need to control noise after dark. There were many nights after 11:00 p.m, that other campers were very loud with music loud. Noise made it hard to sleep.

Show up at 7pm today. Get told the kitchen is closed by the two young women behind the counter who proceed to cook food in front of us while we waited on our party to get ice cream. If you don't want to do your job, quit.

Fabulous! Rented a pontoon on 4th of July and it was super nice, fair-priced, and easy! Also ordered a pizza and it was delicious. Recommended.

Waited 45 min for fries. It was ridiculous, nobody in that kitchen knows how to hustle. Completely absurd, slowest service I've ever received in a store.
