My boyfriend and I stayed here in August and it was absolutely wonderful. Some highlights of the property, host, and location:1. The mattresses were amazingly comfortable.2. The cottages are a couple minutes walk to downtown and Lake Huron.3. The hosts were super responsive when we had a small issue.4. My boyfriend accidentally left his keys at the cottage after we checked out, and the host mailed them back free of charge!Tip: If you plan on drinking wine, bring your own corkscrew and wine glasses. You can buy a corkscrew in town, but you won't find wine glasses there.We highly recommend staying at these adorable cottages!

Was here last year, was wonderful. Came back this year. Very close to the lake, downtown and on Saturday’s, the farmers market. The entire place is walkable.The cottage is quaint and so cute. New mattresses were so comfortable. The kitchen has everything you will need for cooking. There are tables and chairs, picnic tables and a charcoal grill if you prefer the outside. I would recommend this as a wonderful place to stay and chill. And oh the sunsets, magnificent.Safety: Never felt safer.Walkability: The town is small, everything you need is within a mile radius at best.

Small, quiet, and just what we needed. We stayed here on a whim and it was great. The one bedroom with additional pull-out was great, and we tossed kid #3 on the floor with no problem or uncharge. Walking distance to the farmers market, restaurants, and the beach. The AC unit in our building was amazing. The community fireplace didn’t get too loud and we even had a side yard for the kids to play in.

We had the absolute best time at Little Yellow Cottages. My kids (5&7) already want to go back. The location is perfect, one block walk to the beach. Ice cream store on the corner. Downtown l, one block away. We walked everywhere and no one complained ! The cottages are perfect size. Air conditioning works awesome! We had the best family vacation here. What a cute little cottage! Perfect for our family of four. The cottage was clean and updated in the bathroom and kitchen. So close to the pier and farmers market. We had the best weekend and we look forward to coming back!Nearby activities: The beach, pier, horse back riding, go karts were all a short drive or walk away. So many good restaurants nearby too.Walkability: 1 block away from the pier. Easy walk with 2 young kids.

If you are looking for a quiet get away, with time to relax and enjoy the area of Port Austin, then a stay at The Little Yellow Cottages should be in your future. The new owners are the type of people you wind up easily becoming friends with. They are determined and eager to make sure your stay meets your needs and satisfies your expectations. The instant hot water, Mr. Cool A/C, and gas wall heater are all genius additions that work perfectly to keep guests' needs met. When you come, plan to get to know the locals, they are laid back, friendly, and will make you feel right at home. My husband and I felt so welcomed by neighbors of the cottages that we became fast friends; one neighbor we met down at the park by the beach, she said to stop by anytime and if we needed anything she would be glad to accommodate. Whatever your reason for a getaway, do not miss out on Port Austin's Farmer's Market, every Saturday, 9am-1pm, mid-May to October, again you will be glad you went and will meet some of the friendliest people around.

If you’re looking for a clean, quaint little cottage to stay in a lively town, this is the place to stay. We were so pleased with our stay at the Little Yellow Cottages. We stayed in cottage 1 and let me tell you. As soon as you walked in to the cottage, you were greeted with a fresh clean smell. The living room/kitchen area were super clean. The bedroom had a queen bed. We have a hard time sleeping on a flat queen mattress since purchasing an adjustable bed, but the mattress surprised us with how comfortable it was. The bedroom and bathroom was bright and simple. The shower was the perfect size, and we never ran out of hot water! There was a cute little patio off the side of the cottage equipped with a table, 4 chairs, and an umbrella. It’s perfect for hosting guests. There is also a community fire pit if you want to rub elbows with your neighbors. We had a chance to meet the owners, and they were super nice and accommodating. Leading up to our stay I would shoot Kimberly a message asking for details about the surrounding area, and she was very responsive and helpful. I love the location of these cottages because they are within walking distance to anywhere in the small town of Port Austin. The farmers market is right across the street from the cottage so it was an easy walk. Also, great walking distance to the party store.If you’re looking for a place to get friendly with the locals and still have a quiet place to stay and comfortable, this would be purrfect place to stay. We will definitely be back and we’re glad our first trip to the thumb was successful.

I stayed here with my family at the beginning of June. We had an absolutely fantastic time. I recently saw someone write a negative review on a community social media group, and I couldn't disagree with it more. The new owners are incredibly friendly and accommodating. From what I could tell, they've made a lot of modern updates regarding AC & heating units, tankless hot water tanks, excellent wifi, and keyless entry for each cottage. My cottage had a new large TV in it. The location is perfect. The cottage was clean. It's the perfect cozy place to stay in beautiful Port Austin. My husband, myself and our 2 kids age 8 and 11 felt very at home and will definitely be back!

Loved the homey, colorful cottage so close to the beach. Flowers everywhere, a patio with a table and beach umbrella made breakfast fun. At night we made a fire and had some musical neighbors join us. It felt very homey and nostalgic of times passed.Lori was so helpful and answered all of my questions.Staying here was SO much better than a hotel or motel and the price was better than most.Great vacation.

Dirty. Moldy shower curtain, old stained up couches, mattress was old and could feel the springs. They hang a sign on the kitchen wall asking people to not leave bad reviews, but when contacted they say "we are a new small business".... I'm sorry, but why is there money more important than mine? They also said they would refund my cleaning fee....then went back on that after I told them they need to stop using a "new" business excuse for providing unacceptable accomodations.
