Best food I've had in the area. The calamari was super tender and the brussel sprouts were outstanding. The dining room isn't large but they were able to accommodate our group of 9 on a Wednesday. The wait staff was so helpful and food came out surprisingly fast and well timed. I had the fish and chips - fries were thin and crispy and the fish was well seasoned and oh so tender. The grilled lemon garnish was a nice touch.

The only thing better than the design of the building and the great patio, is the absolutely amazing food. We had a burger, the Mac and Cheese, and the street corn. The burger was perfect, and was loaded with flavor. For the sides, the Mac and Cheese and street corn were both amazing. The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere were all top notch. We will definitely be back!

Apps were just OK. Oysters on a half shell were fresh but the mignonette sauce was a bit off for my taste. Tomato Tartare was too watery and lacked a binding flavor. But they totally redeemed themselves with the Tomahawk for 2 entree. Perfectly cooked to medium as requested. Nice seasoning and tasty char without the burnt taste. The sides of Mexican street corn and glazed brussel sprouts were both excellent as well. The corn is off the cob and has a sweet front flavor followed by a nice spice. The brussel sprouts glaze was perfect and the bacon chunks sent them over the top.

Birddog people said we have to check out their other restaurant and we finally did. Big kudos to them. I love the fact that they share their patrons. Yes we will always go to Birddog because they are closer and we love everyone there but we really loved all the food we had at Dog & the bank. Host was super accommodating and the waitress Carlhi was really awesome! I hope I’m spelling that right Carlhi. Great service and the food was unique and on point. The calamari has really excellent and loved the Asian flair with shishito peppers. The red grouper was perfectly prepared and decadent! The salmon was perfectly prepared and probably the most delicious salmon I’ve ever had! That’s saying a lot since I’ve have many salmon from all over in Chicago and New York. This place is seriously solid like Birddog! I will be back! Also thank you for offering Flowers Pinot Noir wine. I love that wine and is one of my favorite Pinots!

Enjoy the modern cocktails and elegant eatery items for lunch and dinner. Their Lunch and Brunch pricing is at a great value we go weekly to enjoy a meal and friendly conversation. Literally their items are just north of a fast food meal but will make you feel like your dining with your own private chef. Not only their service staff is amazing as the culinary wizards on the open line remember guests names and interact which you can rarely get from a 4 diamond hotel downtown. Amazing addition to downtown Plainwell, it definitely transports your taste buds to other worldly destinations.Kid-friendliness: A family town, although the evening atmosphere is couples night out. Weekday lunch vibe should be strollers and sunglass ,"stay at home parentals'". Plenty of diva/dude dishes and kid friendly modifications, but who cares- the goldfish and first-chews will be coming out the pockets for them while champagne and gossip spill across the table.

We have been here many times but I don’t think I’ve left a review yet. Every time the food and service are excellent! Their menu is varied so it’s always fun to try something new. But we always start with the crab fried rice…. So delicious!! My husband also usually enjoys a Manhattan with Rye. They don’t take reservations so you may have to get on the waitlist on the weekends but they always try to get you seated in the amount of time they estimate…. Even though people like to hang out and enjoy an after dinner drink or wonderful dessert.

Went here for my birthday and we were not disappointed. Everything about this place is perfect. The atmosphere is so lively and inviting. Yes, it’s louder than many restaurants in the area, but the buzz of the kitchen, bar, and other patrons makes it feel like you’re in a vibrant city. If you go in knowing that it will be more lively, I think you’ll embrace and enjoy the atmosphere. The owners, chefs, and waitstaff have worked together to curate this experience. The food and service are impeccable. We spoke with the owner and staff for quite a while after our delicious meal. They all have very interesting backgrounds in the service industry, which culminates in the fantastic experience that is the Dog and the Bank. I can’t wait to bring friends and visitors here!

AWESOME FOOD! This was my first time and we came for brunch and it was amazing. We tried 5 different meals and all of them were soooo good. We tried the Dutch baby pancake, Crab Benedict, California Omelet, Little Jerry's sandwich and fingerling potatoes and were not disappointed. I highly recommend if you enjoy great food.

Weekend goals were a good drink and a wonderful meal, expectations completely blown out of the water! Probably the best ribs I have ever had. The Mexican Street Corn was amazing! Outside seating, great music, summer best! Out of a couple of bourbon choices but many others to choose from. Leftovers, lots of leftovers! Don’t miss out on Dog and The Bank!!!!

We absolutely love this place. We've eaten here 3 times so far. Everything from the appetizers to the main course is presented very well and tastes fantastic. We came once during their happy hours. Which is when I tried one of their burgers for the first time. Absolutely the best. The price for the burger and the fries great too given the quality and what the nasty fast food places charge these days for a "burger" and fries. Their steaks are fantastic and always cooked to perfection. Wings are amazing. Drinks are great. We've always had fast service. Everyone has been very friendly. My only small complaint is 2 out of 3 times when we've walked in we were looked at right away by several staff members but not greeted by any of them or even acknowledged. They weren't even busy either. Overall I highly recommend coming here.

Today the wife and I decided to try dog in the bank, they had just opened for the day and the server was extremely nice to deal with. As an appetizer we got loaded French fries with blue cheese. This sounds terrible but trust me if you get it you won’t be let down. I ordered the Delmonico ribeye and the flavor was amazing. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and easily top 2 steaks I have had in my life. The wife ordered salmon and again had an amazing crust, GREAT flavor and cooked to actual perfection. For the little town of Plainwell this place is hands down the best food in town.

We drove 40 minutes to try Dog & The Bank, and it was well worth it. We tried the oysters and two different steaks, and everything was absolutely wonderful. The filet I had was well seasoned and juicier than other filets from dedicated steakhouses. The restaurant also makes use of local suppliers which is very nice. The interior of the restaurant is well designed and attractive, but the other reviews mentioning the noise level are unfortunately accurate. It did not significantly detract from the meal but someone with hearing difficulties may struggle to hold a conversation.Parking: No dedicated parking, but we found on street parking very easily.

One of the best dining events in a while. Atmosphere is upbeat and modern. The service was off the charts, our server could not have been more friendly or more attentive. And the food was outstanding. I had the red grouper and my wife had the Ora king salmon. The grouper was one of the best fish dishes I have ever had and my wife's salmon was similarly wonderful. Our friend's food was excellent as well and they were delighted with Dog and the Bank. We WILL be back for sure!

The menu isn't very clear about what comes with your main entree, FYI.It was good food all perfectly prepared. He ordered a burger and I order the pork. We started with their table side of brussel sprouts and they were good. :)I had a red sangria, a house made cocktail-Yum!The waiter left quite a bit to be desired...a little too busy paying attention to his friend at the bar and not friendly. "I thought the service sucked" said my dinner companion.

Great meals with 2 drawbacks, which prevented me from making this a 5 star rating. My wife and I had the Sliced Fillet Mignon and The Red Grouper. Both most expensive items at $36 each. Both were very good. The drawbacks? First was excessive noise from banging of pots and plates behind the bar made it very difficult to hold a conversation. The second was dessert we decided to have because dinner was sooo good. I love bread pudding so tried it. It’s always served hot like it’s fresh from the oven. This was was warm with a really cold core. Both of these items gave our party the distinctive impression that the staff really wanted to leave early this Saturday night.Over all a positive experience and we will return. However if they want to obtain my full 5 stars you will need address these last 2 items.

We ordered the Thai Snapper, mac&cheese, and the peanut butter pie. It took a really long time to get our entree but the Snapper was absolutely delicious. Sadly, the mac&cheese was bland and the noodles mushy... The pie was amazing! The remodel of that space is beautiful. This was their opening day. I'm sure they'll get even better once they have been open for business for a bit.

Our current favorite in the area. The seasonal dinner, happy hour, and brunch menus are carefully curated and executed with perfect care. Their bar is well supplied and their cocktails are great value. The renovated space is ample and welcoming, facilites clean and the staff and chefs very friendly and will work with you and your party for dietary or special needs. Certainly recommend if you are searching a unique flare of flavors to traditional or original dishes. Also, if you can’t make it to Plainwell check out their Mattawan location.
