Pet supplies plus did not have hermit crabs so I happened to google pet stores and this one came up. They had a great selection of hermit crabs, snakes, freshwater and saltwater fish. They had some bigger sharks in a tank. My kids fell in love with this place and we are planning on going here from now on for our small pet needs.

Tanks were very dirty. Sales man seemed to dislike goldfish and discouraged me from making extra purchases. Sold me 2 plecos with diseases or diseased water and I have lost both plecos and 2, now 3, 6 year old goldfish and 6 snails. 😡

Great fish tanks,had everything I needed and will need..felt a little weird......sure it's cause they don't get a lot of people who look like me ..great place would definitely recommend it.and i will be shopping for my mealworms for Rango....

From the outside, the place is unassuming. Inside it is pretty impressive. Much more than just a fish store, their birds, and reptiles are diverse, and appear well cared for. The owners have made great use of the limited space, and the fish tanks are beautiful. Definitely worth checking out.

I live a couple hours away but it's worth the trip everytime! Was able to pick up a bumblebee morph ball python this trip and she is a sweetheart! The staff is amazing and was able to answer every question I had for them too!

I only come here because it's the only place local that has live mice for my ball python. They have almost all of their reptiles in enclosures that are way to small. The ball pythons they have are kept in a terribly maintained tank that would be way to small for even one snake. Two of the lizards were really skinny and probably wouldn't eat because of the fact they could barely move in that limited space (i saw a cricket bite one of the lizards tail). I saw a snake that looked very dead too. They do not care about their animals if they did they'd give them decent care.

Been bringing my dog here for years to be groomed and never had a bad experience. My dog loves Marianne and just met the new groomer, Jodi who he also adored. My parents' dog has special grooming needs and they have always taken care to meet those needs. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and will work with you to find the right pet or products for you.

There was a dead dried up lizard in one of there tanks. one of there island monitors was very skinny and drying up as well the other 2 where struggling at the bottom of the tank stuck in water probably will drown. They have full sized bearded dragons in small tanks to small for temporary stay. There prices are ridiculous. As a reptile owner this store was dirty and it was sad to see.

Bought two angelfish, @ $19.99 each, on Friday and are dead by the following Tuesday. My wife has a very good system and these two were in their own tank. Very disappointed

I had a healthy common pleco that had become too large for my tank and I didn't know what to do with him. Rookie mistake I know. I called Tropic Cove and they were willing to take him, which was great. I'm new to town and was hopeful there was a local fish store, and this is the one! Many varieties of fresh and saltwater fish and supplies. I was surprised they had axolotyls. Will definitely be back. And while it's not my thing, they also have a good selection of reptiles and reptile food, mice and rats, live and frozen.

Great selection of both saltwater and freshwater fish, lots of lizards, frogs, snakes and other animals like that. They sometimes also have birds, bunnies and hamsters. Plus a great selection of products for all kinds of pets! Staff is friendly and helpful.

Prices are super high for the quality and health of the livestock especially the fish. I have tried to get fish from here on several occasions, that have all died shortly after being introduced into my tank which has been up and running for over a decade and has had no issues at all. When asking for a new fish or a refund the owners will very rudely tell you to bring a water sample in and then tell you it is your fault. Truly poor customer service, which is a bummer considering it could have true potential.

There is so much more to this store than the amazing fish. The workers are super nice and helpful. The 1st time I came in I was super shocked to see they had a lot of animals and products. The fish tanks are beautiful. Every time I go in I almost walk out with a different animal!

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Great selection of pets and supplies at great prices. Most importantly the animals are excellent quality and well cared for. I have bought my fish and live aquarium plants here for years and have always been very satisfied. Highly recommend!

Iv bought from here a couple of times and sometimes very rarely do the fish actually live two days ago I bought 2 angle fish and I noticed one was acting up so I put him in a bigger correntine area and he died the very night. He wasn't eating no matter what food I gave him and he either floated with his head up at water or sunk into my plants. ☹️ spent like 30 each and iv got a betta from there and it did the same thingbut other places I haven't had a problem

We have a year and a half old crested gecko that was not bought in a local store. Straight orange. Came here, noticed a white/grayish looking crested gecko (which I've been looking for years)... excitedly, asked to see it as well as specifically asked about color and if it was normally that light. A touch of orange was mentioned, which would have been a nice accent on such a light color and would be different than our other. Nope. It came home and shed in the small transition tank while we prepared/decorated the medium tank. It's straight, patternless deep orange... thanks for doubling us up on another orange. With two in care now, I wont be able to have another color... DO YOU ONLY SELL ORANGE CRESTIES? DID YOUR EMPLOYEES KNOW? Im very unhappy.

Went into Tropic Cove looking for a gift for my son for his birthday and had a great experience. The staff was so knowledgeable and helped us pick out the perfect pet for my 14 year old son. I would definitely recommend this place - great experience.

As far as a pet store, really like this place. Owners and staff are very personable.Large selection of well-maintained fish. Adequate selection of reptiles - including boas, ball pythons (some produced right in the back of the shop,) monitors, chameleons, bearded dragons ... birds - usually Quaker parrots, cockatoos. Rats, mice, (pet home or feeder quality) ferrets, etc. Turtles and tortoises, as well as spiders.The store is well maintained - cages are clean. Smell is at a minimum. Never saw any sick or dying animals - all appear to be healthy with no issues. No stuck shed on any snakes. No disfigurements.Many accessories are available, from cages and tanks to toys, substrate, heating components, food selections.Staff is always friendly and appear to be working hard. They have above average knowledge compared to other pet shops, namely franchise type pet stores. Always helpful, take time to answer any questions that you may have. They seem dedicated to their jobs and the care of the animals there.The facebook page is active - with information, advice, sales, drawings, competitions and giveaway. They also tend to go live to show what's happening at the store, showcase the births of new animals, some beyond the scenes on what goes on in their warehouse.Even if you aren't buying, it's always a fun stop to make. My son likes looking around at the birds and fish.If they don't have exactly what you are looking for, they typically go out of their way to try to get it in for you.I've personally brought home a few animals from this shop. A stunning ball python with no health issues, no mites, a good temperament. 10/10 would do business here again.

My husband and I bought our bearded dragon, leopard gecko and fish from Tropic Cove. While it's a big higher in price for most items, we continue to shop here because it's a local business, everyone is super friendly and we've never had any issues with any animal we have purchased from here.

I love this store! They have a great staff! An excellent selection of pets and supplies at great prices!! They take all the time you need to answer all the questions you have about the pets you have or are getting. Braedon is an awesome source of knowledge about the reptiles and creepy crawlers!

I got two red cherry shrimp a few days ago. They never told me the price when I was on the the phone so I was expecting the normal 3$ for each. When I got there I was told it’ll be 10$ I bought them. I put them in a established tank with everything they would need. There was 2 other shrimp in there at the time and they all got along like I had expected. The next day I found both the shrimp dead. I was heart broken but mostly upset.I would not recommend buying fish or anything from here. All I’ve gotten is dieased animals and fish that die in days.

Such a wide selection of exotic animals AND they take amazing care of the animals there. One of the best places to get bird, bearded dragons, fish, and so many other different kinds of animals in Northern Michigan!

First visit.. super cool fish. I will go back there soon.. it was so interesting looking at all the fish and the people working were friendly and took the time to tell me about the different fish.. it was awesome... A neat place to maybe take your children to learn about salt water fish, coral, and fresh water fish as well.

In the last two weeks I've bought 6 fish of various species from Tropic Cove. All but 1 died within 24 hours of bringing them home. I'm so mad I won't even go back for a refund! The fish were bought separately over a 2-week time span and placed into an established aquarium with proper feed, heat, and lighting. The fish I've purchased from other places are all thriving and doing well. I wouldn't recommend Tropic Cove at all! Unless, of course, you'd like to use your fish for fertilizer.

Hands down the cleanest pet shop I have ever been to. Treat all the animals great. A wide assortment of animals ranging from birds, small mammals (mice, gerbils, hamsters, ginny pigs, hedge hogs), a bunch of fresh and salt water fish and even a fresh water sting ray, turtles, and lizards. They always have new products. They care about their animals. Glad to have found Tropic Cove. Seth, the owner is a very knowledgeable person that takes pride in his pet shop. No I do not know him very well, i have been going there for the past few years for my bearded dragon accessories and crickets.

I bought my new addition to my family here. I really enjoyed all of the animals they have. I felt that the animals were being taken care of as one of their own pets. I like that the animals were not in over heated glass cages ( not talking about the fish lol). The animals were not showing any signs of stress. I enjoyed the knowledge that they had for the animals . Its a business so they are trying to make money but they were not forcing me to buy the most expensive things. I enjoyed the options. I will drive the hour again and again to come here.

Normally the service is pretty good, today was out of the ordinary so giving the benefit of the doubt. Usually staff is pretty knowledgeable, helpful & friendly with decent prices. I wish they had a little more space to be able to give the animals a little more room & keep cages cleaner but aside from a new building or less animals, that's probably not an option. Definitely recommend stopping here before you go buying fish at Meijer or Wal-Mart.
