It's a very easy walk to the falls on either a paved path or you can take the dirt nature trail for part of the way. There are views that are wheel chair accessible, although not all of the views are. It's true what they say, get here as early as you can to avoid the crowds. At around 8 am on a weekday getting into the peak colors season, I only saw two other cars in the lot. By the time I left it was completely packed.

October 20, 2023It was more beautiful than I even anticipated. Perfect for a cool, fall day. There's a well-maintained paved trail that leads to separate sets of stairs. The trail to the right takes you to the stairway of 90-something stairs leading directly to the waterfall. Leading in the opposite direction is a set of 181 stairs. This was my favorite. There were multiple look-out points to catch a view of the waterfall, getting down to ground level.Off the main paved trail are multiple hiking trails with varying degrees of hiking difficulty.Easily could spend a day or just a few hours here.

The upper falls are absolutely amazing! The paved paths that lead to the falls are very well maintained and make it easy for all to access the many vantage points along the river that lead to the falls. There are also many hiking trails (unpaved) through the forest that lead to the falls. The best photos can be taken at the end of the trail at the bottom of the approximately 90 steps that lead to a very large observation platform. There is ample room on the platform to take photos. The restrooms are well maintained and clean. The parking lots are large with spots large enough for rvs.

This park offers a stunning view of the falls, complemented by well-maintained paths. Visitors can choose between paved paths and hiking trails throughout the surrounding area. For those looking to eat, there's a brewery on-site and several other food options, including ice cream and pulled pork. Parking is available and easy to navigate, although it can get busy, limiting spaces on peak days. The park is also equipped with a water bottle refill station, picnic areas, and clean, well-maintained restrooms conveniently located at the beginning of the trail to the falls. Before getting a close-up view of the falls, be prepared to descend more than 90 steps on a long, open staircase. However, for those who might find this challenging, there are multiple overlook points along the trail for enjoying the falls.

One of the best and beautiful places i ever seen in my life, i had a great time with my family , mother nature is amazing, those falls and river and the forest will give you an internal joy and peace, just keep calm, watch and listen to the sound of nature. it was my first time and definitely not my last visit. There is a huge parking lot that you can park your car in. The entrance price is 18$ for Michigan car plates that allow you to visit all Michigan national parks for 1 year. there is a huge dock for food and souvenirs. we ate and we bought souvenirs, prices are high but for a one time it is totally worth it.

Nestled in the second largest state park in Michigan is Taquamenon Falls. The upper part of the waterfall system is gorgeous. The parking lot for the upper falls is adjacent to gift shops, restaurants, and two sets of restrooms. The upper falls are 200 feet wide and glisten with an amber color from the local trees. There are four outlooks along the trail here allowing for incredible views of the cascade in all its glory. There are multiple campgrounds and many trails nearby. There is an $11 park fee for out of state vehicles. This serves as a day pass allowing you to explore the upper and lower falls.

The Tahquamenon Upper Falls were amazing to see. Also called Root Beer Falls, the water definitely takes on the tea colored brown hue from the tannins from the local cedar trees leeching into the water. The upper falls are powerful and enchanting at the same time.At the start, you arrive at a visitor center that has food, gifts, and bathrooms. When we were there a BBQ food truck was parked out front. Great food! From there the paths are clearly marked and paved the whole way. This was a slightly more challenging hike mostly because at the end of both main trails there are stairs. One has over 90 steps, the other over 200. The end result however, was definitely worth the extra exertion.

Absolutely beautiful! There are bathrooms right before the trail back to the falls. The walk is beautiful itself, with a few different look out spots before you get to the stairs that take you down to the falls themselves. It is absolutely breathtaking. There is a brewery in the upper falls parking lot, we didn't eat there, but it's there if you want it! There is also a really big gift shop with lots of fun things to look at!

The Upper Waterfall was Amazing. The river was very full. The Waterfall was raging the day we were there. The bottom lookout platform was under water. The trails are very nice. It's very easy to get around. No matter your gait. Unfortunately the lower falls was still closed. But we are going back in the fall. We hope to see the lower falls. And spend a lot more time there. Absolutely Beautiful!

Beautiful place! Love the gift shop and food trucks. Definitely recommend the Hobo fries or Hobo Nachos at the food truck with the smoked meat. We sat by the fireplace and ate our food. So relaxing and nice to warm up on a cold October day. The upper falls are so pretty. You can make your hike longer or shorter depending on what you want to do. Bathroom facilities were clean. We went in a Sunday around 3:30 and there were a lot of people. Recreation pass gets you in this park for free.

What an amazing view and most of the trails were handicap accessible. It was great to see so many folks that were able to see the falls that would have difficulty on most trails.Great views and nice paths to get there. Even with it pretty busy folks were rotating for photos and views fairly quickly.

I would imagine that if you're in this area, then the falls is on your list of things to see. The upper falls are very easy to access from the parking lot. There are several stopping points along the way to get different vantage points for photos. At the end of the trail there are about 90 steps to go down to the actual top of the falls. If you take the gorge trail, there are 181 steps and you can get some different views, but not really close to the falls. Highly recommended to go when it is sunny with some clouds to add contrast to the photos you will be taking.

20 minutes on a trolley and then about a 2 hour boat ride to come see this waterfall, had 0 knowledge of what it was or looked like, when I got there I was sorta disappointed because I was just hoping to have better viewing angles, was picturing the falls being bigger, but then I got my drone out to see if I can take a better photo from above and boy did I, the fall colors mixed with the river and waterfall is amazing!

You don't have to walk from the Lower Falls to get to the Upper Falls. It's about a 4 mile ride up to the next State Park. The walk from the parking lot is not bad at all to get to the viewing platforms. There are a couple different angles to see it. You can get closer if you choose. But the views are great from the overlook. There is also a gift shop here and brewery. Also one of those penny crank machines to get a squished penny with the Falls on it.

One of the best waterfalls in Michigan. The lower falls are alright but the upper falls blows your mind. It's majestic and very big. Good safety precautions with barriers and there are multiple view points. If you decide to take the nature trail, beware of mosquito attack!

I’ve wanted to come to the Tahquamenon Falls ever since I learned about it in middle school. It didn’t disappoint. I just wish it wasn’t so busy. We came on a Monday at 5:00pm…and it was packed. The trail leading to falls is paved and there are benches to rest. The walk is pleasant, and not too long. The trail is shady and well-marked. There are less than 100 stair steps leading down to the falls viewing area. The boardwalk around the falls accommodates several people comfortably, but because the falls are the main attraction, people tend to linger (taking many selfies with the falls in the background). There’s a BBQ dining area with lots of seating.
