This review is long overdue since I took the trip on memorial day weekend but I promised Chris and Robin I'd leave a review so here I am!They're the loveliest, most accommodating owners I've met. So friendly and chatted with us while I had breakfast by the water. I stayed in the green cabin (on the far end, closest to their home). Had all the privacy I needed, even though all the cabins were occupied. See attached pictures for beautiful views of the sunrise!It may look like the paint is worn off on the outside and I think some reviews mentions that but wait till you get inside! :) It's such a cozy little place and honestly, worth the money! They also try really really hard to maintain these beautiful cabins so please do not hesitate to book a stay. I promise you won't be disappointed :) Robin mentioned that they also redid the flooring on all the cabins except the one I stayed in but honestly I didn't even realize it till she mentioned it and it did not bother me one bit.I spent most of my time here at the cabin, rather than visiting other attractions, because it was that good! So peaceful and just what I needed. Planning on heading back in the fall :)Cabins were clean, plenty of linen provided and I cooked all of my meals since the kitchen was stocked with all the utensils and cookware I needed.I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE ENOUGH!

Stayed last October, and already planning to return this summer. Cabins are very clean from top to bottom. Everything from linens to kitchen utensils were clean. Very nice rustic interior with cable TV for those rainy afternoons. Chris & Robin were very friendly and helpful. If you want 5 star lodging, go to Traverse City. If your after a relaxing stay in a nice cabin with view that cant be beat, this is the place you want to be. We've stayed in many hotels & motels over the years and have never had lodging as satisfying as Saunders Sunrise Cabins. Highly recommend.8/7/2023 UPDATE- Stayed again last week. Couldnt be happier. A very nice place to stay, and very relaxing ! Waking up to that view is nothing short of amazing. A lot of really neat things to do within a reasonable driving distance. Five stars to the hosts Chris & Robin as well. Such nice & helpful people, you couldnt ask for any better !

Cute little cabins right on the water! Owners were very nice and accommodating as we asked to check in early. They even shared some of the local happenings that were going on the weekend we were there. Seeing freighters through the windows of the cabin was a bonus too.

One star is for the cabin being indoors and pet friendly and two for the view. Robin was snarky and rude when interacting with us to the point I thought she was joking the first few times. The office smells so bad and is so dirty that I walked out after check in telling my husband we may have to hope we'd find another place to stay. Luckily the cabin was cleaner than the office but don't expect you're paying for comfort. The kitchen chair had no seat, just a hole with a cushion covering it (surprise when sitting!) and the couch had that worn, coated, itchy feeling of being very old and used. There's no effort to do more than the basics for upkeep. It's decent if you know you're paying for the view and a roof.

I Love these cabins!!! The owners, Chris & Robin are so sweet and wonderful people. My husband and I went to the UP for our wedding ceremony, we and and 8 of our close friends stayed at these cabins. We had been there before, and already knew how awesome they were., but wow, being there to celebrate our marriage was really special. You can not ask for a better place to stay, colorful cabins, cozy wood paneling and you step out to Lake Superior from the front door. Just phenomenal. Thank you Chris & Robin !

Beautiful place!!! Found these cabins online when searching for a place to stay near the falls and get away for the weekend. The cabin was very cute, cozy and clean. The view is amazing - definitely helps you unwind and forget about stresses of life. We unfortunately had vehicle issues and Chris and Robin were very generous and helpful!!! We are forever grateful!! I highly recommend their cabins for a place to vacation.

My girlfriend and I have stayed at the cabins about 2 or 3 times. It has become a tradition during my birthday in late January to visit. We have always felt the price for two nights is more than reasonable. The size of the cabin is great for 2 people, and I wouldn't see any issue with 4. All around, nice locally owned place with friendly owners. I believe the last time we visited they had updated the old tube tv's, which is a nice addition. Clean, affordable, great location, plenty of parking, close to hiking, state park and gas station for supplies. All in all, one of our favorite (and we travel all over) places to stay, and excited to stay again later this month.

Robin and Chris are very personable, as was Raven their fur baby greeter! Cabins are dated which we liked (reminded us of cabins from our childhood) and clean. Pots/ pans,dishes,silverware etc. Each cabin has their own flat deck to sit at for breakfast/lunch and watch the waves! Hot water for showers,good TV...loved the views at sunrise!!

The owners were very friendly and accommodating. Very quiet and relaxing. The views from the cabins were spectacular. The cabins are older but taken care of. We were there for 4 days with 4 adults and they didnt feel overcrowded or cramped. We plan on coming back for another visit. Only downfall and suggestion being lots of bug spray. There are lots of mosquitoes

Beautiful views. Clean, comfortable cabins. Great place to just relax or to easily reach all the spots of interest. Chris and Robin are very nice and helpful.While there , I had trouble with my car, and Chris made sure I got the part I needed.Paradise is really a beautiful area and Saunders Cabins are the place to stay.

Paradise is a beautiful area, and our stay at Saunders would have been perfect if not for the mice. We rented 3 cabins and the first evening these bold mice were running around in front of us. We told the owners, and they reassured us that mice were not usually a problem and they promised they would put out traps the next morning while we were gone all day. When we checked in the next evening, they had 'forgotten' to put the traps out and it didn't get done until after dinner. The owner actually said to me, "So you're afraid of a little mouse huh?" instead of actually apologizing and owning up to the issue. That would have went a long way. Instead, my mother and son heard the mouse traps snapping, the struggle, and noises of the mice trying to escape that night. Our cabin was next. I woke up to things being knocked off the counter in the middle of the night. Upon checking the next morning, we had to throw out some food items that were gnawed into that were on the kitchen counter. There were droppings on the counter, stove, and microwave. That is gross. It is not too much to ask when renting a cabin that it be clean and pest free. The final night of our stay, my friend and her son saw mice running around their television. A third cabin. More mice. Hopefully, the Saunders get it together and take care of their pest problems. Had we not had mice, we would have been content in the rustic, inexpensive cabins. But the owners not taking responsibility and taking care of business definitely soured our cabin stay. Stay in Paradise, as it is a fabulous little town in a picturesque area, but stay away from Saunders if you want your vacation to be cleanly and pest free.

My girlfriend and I rented the 1 bedroom cabin and had a great time in Paradise. The cabin is very simple but in a good way. If you are looking to take a break from the busy city and want to enjoy a quiet time full of beautiful views, this is the place for you. Both owners were very friendly and accommodating. We will be back again!

Stayed here for three days and loved it!!! Best sunrise photos and close to all we were interested in and owner more then accommodating.. In evenings , sat on porch and listened to surf hitting the rocks. Our visit was very peaceful and we'll return soon!Next door is a gift shop and owner Barb Erickson does fabulous paintings on just about anything nature can send her. She also has a wonderful whimsy garden to walk thru.All in all, a return trip is in the making for this year!

Gorgeous location!! Small cozy cabins steps away from the water edge. Unparalleled view of the lake and the dark sky location allow for some heavenly star gazing like you've never seen before. You can also have a campfire if u like. Cabins are equipped with refrigerator, microwave and Tv along with small kitchenette adequate for weekend cooking. The owners are lovely and warm. highly recommend!

We stayed there about 3 weeks ago and let me tell you it was amazing!! The cabins are beautiful the view is beautiful and the Saunders are amazing people 😊 they went above an beyond with anything we needed which made the stay so much more enjoyable super laid back an quiet area an owners thank you for the amazing experience and we will be returning as soon as we possibly can!!!

We have been here several times since the spring of 2008. Robin and Chris are wonderful, and we love it here. Nothing fancy about the cabins, but they are clean and adorable. We will always stay here when visiting the area.

Saunders Sunrise Cabins is definitely a beautiful place to stay at in Paradise. Beautiful lake, bonfires, awesome cabin! We can't wait to go back and spend some more time relaxing and enjoying the beautiful weather.Pros: The cabins are inexpensive, clean, and cozy. Free wifi. Local to a bunch of resturants. Multiple fire pits. Clean cabins, beach right outside, has almost everything you'd need to cook including: plates, utensils, 2 skillets, spatulas, etc. Every cabin has it's own grill. Close to the falls and other attractions.Cons: we where the last cabin so wifi wasn't all that good.

If you enjoy simple, rustic vacations, then staying at Saunders is for you! Yes, the cabins are dated, but who goes to the UP to be spoiled? It's not hard to light a 2-burner gas stove with a match. Most people go for the view, and you will find it at Saunders! It's fun to sit around the fire pit and see millions of stars light up the sky! Raven, the Saunders' dog is an added bonus as she walks around the property, visits guests, and then goes for a swim. Next door to Saunders is a little art gallery/gift store called Wildworks. The owner paints wildlife and has a beautiful garden that adds to the magic. Decide what you want for a vacation. If you prefer to be waited on, and want a nice hotel setting, then Saunders probably isn't for you. If you are looking for a place where there are no deadlines, and you can watch the sunrise and set, then give Saunders a try.

Perfect location if your looking for a dump to stay in. By far the rudest people we have encountered in our worldly travels. Rooms were not as advertised. No wifi at all and the sandy beach was nothing but rocks and dirty water. Rooms stank so bad it gave me a headache and I just looked at the rooms. The stove was ancient history and the mattress hadn't been replaced in two centuries. Would not recommend this place for even my worst enemy to stay. Thank God they didn't take our credit card info because all we lost was the deposit. They need to update website to a rustic cabin. I would have rather took a tent and stayed in it.

Terrible customer service. The little old lady was awful to deal with. Beyond rude. Very condescending and lacking in professionalism.While the cabin itself was cute and right on the water, there was no wi-fi (as stated in the ad) and the cute sandy beach had no access to the water, so don't think you can go there and swim.We will not be returning. Based strictly on the nasty old lady in the office...her husband was quite pleasant though.

The place was stuffy but cleaned like it hadn't been aired out in a while. The cabin we had did not have a little porch to sit on- was the only one that was like it. No beach access to lake, just a lot of sharp rocks so couldn't kayak. Wouldn't been able to Kayak anyways because they were left out all summer and were too old to use.

Quaint little place. Owners are very friendly. Really enjoyed our time there.If you're looking for something with air conditioning, this is not the place for you. However, they do have fans in each bedroom.Will definitely come back.

Quiet, peaceful, refreshing. We just finished a long weekend here with three families and it was great. Kids had a great time. Close to Whitefish Point and Tahquamenon. Brought UTVs and rode them most places, plenty of trails in the area.

These cabins are so cozy and have everything you need! Chris and Robin have created the perfect getaway location and with the location being right on the beach, the sunrise views and lake breeze can't be beat :)
