Kids love stopping for thier hand dipped ice cream...The staff is always friendly and the food is good they also offer a variety of hamburgers and french fries on the menu along with soft serve and shakes. You can also rent kayaks and jet skies...Theres a park across the street with a small beach and swim area that's kept up and clean...

Great food, and great ice cream! Several kinds of acai bowls, burgers, hot dogs, and more. Lots of unique ice cream flavors!! Everyone was friendly. We went here 3 times this weekend.

Used to go every summer with my daughter. Last year two ice cream cones were less than $10. This year they're $17.50.The servers are nice enough but those prices are a rip off big time. I won't come back ever again. I'll go down the road to Arcadia. 💯👌🏻

This is a side of the road ice cream shop that gives very a good amount of ice cream per serving, the flavors were right on and a very clean shop. Well worth the money and not to mention it looks like a family ran business. The kids are so respectful, helpful and walk with a smile on their faces. Thanks to parent these kids have is why I received great service that day.

Staff was a little anxious.. asked if we wanted to eat dinner or just have ice cream...the portion was way off hubby and I both had one scoop in a cup.his was huge and mine was tiny..I was kinda bummed for 12$...

I knew this place as papa js. I hope it can continue to stay open and have the wonderful ice cream and food. I have been coming to onekama for almost 40yrs and its nice to have an establishment like that in town.

Poor customer service, and they were completely out of everything. When I asked for a McFlurry the cashier asked the girls in the back if they were still able to make one and there response was “you better hope not”. I understand having a long day but we drove almost an hour for ice cream. Won’t come back here.

Excellent service from the four young people working. We enjoyed talking wythem. Ice cream was delicious. Generous servings. Was hoping for strawberry but settled for white chocolate raspberry. Very good! Highly recommend stopping for a treat!

The staff was very friendly however...the prices aren't great especially for what you get. I ordered a malt and it had literal chunks of the malt mix in it. It was gross. My husband and dad ordered the malt sundae and it was very small (especially for $5.50) and it was soft served ice cream not even regular with a little hot fudge and malt mix sprinkled on top. We were not impressed and will not be going back.

First time in the place, it's next to the park/beach/boat launch. Clean and well spaced out tables. Outdoor seating too. Had a pulled pork burger, sweet potato fries and a pb&j shake. Heavenly. Sat and enjoyed my meal for 30 minutes and watched the two employees working handle just as many customers come through, it was a thing of beauty. Definitely coming back next time I'm in Onekama.

The milkshakes are good. Also a good place to rent a kayak. Reasonably priced for the day. You can take the kayaks anywhere you want. They aren't big kayaks so you can't go out on Lake Michigan and that are a bit tippy but still definitely a fun day activity.

We always enjoy Papa J’s. Very friendly staff. Our order was messed up during a hectic shift change. We weren’t expecting it, but management gave us a free meal and ice cream and were very apologetic. Friendly people like this are one of the reasons Onekama is my favorite Northern Michigan town.

I'm originally from Michigan, and my parents bought a cabin up north in Onekama. I came back from England to visit, and my kids and I went to Papa J's a lot when we were there.They make waffle cones from scratch (which are delicious), and make the best reese's peanut butter cup blended with soft serve chocolate ice cream I have ever had.The staff are lovely and always friendly. It's nicely situated by the water, so you can grab your ice cream and go sit by the lake.

I am really embarrassed to say that I’ve been here the last 2 nights in a row (would’ve been 3) for their cherry pie flurry (pregnancy craving hits hard). Really bummed that their hours are not updated on google, we got there at 8:09 and their doors were locked but there was still people outside eating ice cream so I’d assumed they closed at 8.-please update them for future hormonal pregnant ladies. 😅

Person working counter did not know the menu at all after finally getting what we wanted straight (3 sundaes at $5 and 1 large shake at $4- $19 total) we were charged $25.95 which far exceeded the 6% tax we should have been charged. We will not go back.
