What a charming place definitely loved and appreciated by locals.The food is simple and well executed, with some dishes going beyond your expectation like the Reuben.The staff is carrying and gentle enforcing the overall feel of being in your Ma's dining room.The atmosphere does not lack family feelings with the mix match, yet full of little personal touches then and there.It is calm and wonderful, the food is so good ... You could almost end up taking a nap.And they would probably give you a warm blanket and a tea to make sure you make the most of your time.Lovely.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch. I had the Bacon Cheeseburger with fries. She had the Cod. I always order my burger well done. Most places absolutely can’t pull this off. Ma’s Diner in Onaway Michigan has the best burger ANYWHERE. I worked across the country for years. Trying burgers EVERYWHERE. Hats off to Ma’s Diner. Fantastic service, wonderful small town vibe. 5 ⭐️

Excellent food! Dedicated gluten free fryer. Celiac Friendly! Out of the three restaurants in Onaway, this one is the top pick for breakfast and lunch. We have two people with Celiac's Disease in our family and the staff is always quick to help with dining options. The homemade chips are pretty great. But everything I've had there is great. Not fancy. But very comfortable and you feel at home there.I always think about taking pics of my meal, but I can never wait! I dig in!Dietary restrictions: Celiac Friendly with a dedicated fryer and an understanding of the disease.

I give a lot of 5 stars....this place deserves a 6 star. Good food reasonable prices, fun seasonal decor, and a refreshingly upbeat owner (the one with the freckles). Very pleased with lunch, and we will certainly return.Parking: Plenty!Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome!

Never again! We were excited to try this diner. Unfortunately for me, I have food allergies, biscuits and gravy are usually always a safe choice. Not today, I am still suffering from the allergic reaction to the "maple sausage" they used in the gravy. I would have never thought to ask if they had maple in their sausage! No apologies, they didn't even offer to remove the uneaten meal from my bill. Thanks for the hives!Sincerely,A seriously disappointed customer!

My family is never disappointed when we've eaten here. There isn't anything on the menu we wouldn't suggest. Ma's has an amazing team of staff, you are always greeted with a friendly smile and happy-to-see-you hello. Their freshly baked goods case is always delicious too.You will taste the freshness, goodness and love put into your meal. Highly recommend and day of the week. Definitely try their Reuben!

Cute diner with charming employees; i was complimented on my shirt, Pa's breakfast was a heaping helping of many items, and Mateya [probably butchering her name] knew a lot of customers first names, a sign that she does her best to know the community in addition to her exceptionally kind demeanor. There was a minor miscommunication about how I wanted my eggs, and they even offered to discount my bill which I politely declined considering I wouldn't have felt good about taking money out of their pockets. I will be sure to stop in occasionally from here on out, thank you again for a yummy start to my day!

Stopped in for breakfast on 7-22-2023. Very friendly service and food was excellent. Best homemade breakfast potatoes I've ever had!! Locally made syrup for pancakes, homemade strawberry freezer jam for toast n biscuits. Corned beef made daily for hash and Reuben sandwiches. Two Reuben's were ordered to go since breakfast hash was so good. Ma's Diner will definitely be a go to when heading up north.

We decided to try out this little diner. What a great find in Northern Michigan! There is only 1 good way to make a Reuben, and this place has it down perfectly. The homemade chips, amazing. Husbands biscuits and gravy, homemade and delicious. Large portions, and inexpensive prices. If you're around Onaway Michigan, and want a good homemade meal, stop in, it's definitely worth it!!!!!
