Great spot for families and large parties. Came here on a busy Sunday night over the 4th of July weekend and even amidst all that mayhem we were treated like gold. Some of the best comfort food in the area - highlights this time included the Chicken Fried Chicken, Seafood Pasta, and the Seafood Chowder. Drinks are strong and well priced, staff is friendly and efficient.

Tried this place for lunch takeout. Seems like a “fish and chip” place but I don’t like fish/chips unless you are in a Pub in Great Britain. Wait staff that greeted me was very nice. Soup and salad were the options. Salad was good but they had it packaged like it was being sent across the country. I put it all in a different container and mixed it up. Soup was not so great. I’ll come back and give the rest of the menu a go….

My brother suggested this place and definitely lived up to the recommendation. The food was delicious ... liver and onions. The service was attentive but not intrusive, excellent. Menu selection - great variety. Finally, the atmosphere was comfortable and familiar, like sitting down with warm family or friends. Highly recommend a visit soon.

We rode our bicycles up the NW State Trail from Petoskey. Glad we did! Stopped by the Northwood Family Restaurant for lunch. It was great! Northwood is a hidden gem right off the trail in Oden Mi. Watch for the blue building.A very nice inside seating area, a bar, quality furnishings, clean, great food and service!I appreciate cloth napkins, nice plates and silverware. They even place real butter on the tables.Fish & chips was awesome! Onion rings were the best!BTW, the tall draft beer is 25 ounces. The mugs bring a smile to your face!Thanks Northwood Family Restraunt for a great lunch and great service! This place was a welcome respite after a long day of holiday travel. The staff was welcoming and friendly to our tired and hangry brood. We were served dinner rolls while we waited for our food- who does that anymore? The place was decorated so cute and cozy for the holidays. And the food was really really good. I got the beef and gravy and it was made with good quality beef, mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked broccoli (not mushy!). Comfort food at its best. We were quite a ways from home but the kids and I agreed -it would be worth traveling back for!

YESS. I really enjoyed my stay please eat here too. I went the 12th of July 2022. Delicious. I had fried mushrooms (Not pictured but amazing because I wanted to eat them) and the spaghetti. Also pictured is the cod fish sandwich and the half rack of ribs.Parking: I'd say enough parking. 30 cars or so.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes it is wheelchair friendly no steps.

It was late on a Sunday evening and we were on the hunt for a restaurant, well we wondered into Northwood family restaurant and even though it was less than an hour to closing we were promptly seated and served. The fried mushrooms were so delicious I highly recommend them if you like mushrooms. I had the burrito it was also very delicious. Many of my family in the area really like this place and I see why. I recommend this place if you're in the area.

Huge selection on the menu from fish to pasta, burgers to chops. The Hand dipped mushrooms and onions rings were just right. French dip and burger were large and we took plenty of leftovers home with us.Our waitress was very friendly and exceptional helpful.

We dined here for 4 nights for dinner - family of 3.Pros: The steak fries are very yummy, crispy and well made. The burgers were as expected so good but not exceptional. The NY steak lacked flavor and was a little tough but it was ok. The blackened cod was good. The atmosphere was lively and not too loud. The staff was very friendly.Con: the all you can eat cod was heavily breaded and came soggy and very oily. It was obviously sitting for long before I received it. I asked for crispy cod and the waitress brought out 2 way more desirable fresh crispy pieces. The all you can eat shrimp was also heavily breaded and very oily. I honestly vomited this meal in the bathroom halfway through eating. Not sure if it was because of the breading or heavy oils or if the Cole slaw in vinegar didn't agree with me. Thay was not a good experiance. I disliked their ceaser salad. It was too heavily covered in cheese and the cheese was hard and stale. I do not eat dairy and the cheese was too abundant so the salad was a waste. For one dinner I purchased a salad entree and it was well decorated but had few ingrediants and did not taste great.On our last meal the friendly male who seated us mentioned that an employee from Nobs Nub (ski place) asked to give us their discount and he said he would but the message was not conveyed to the waitress so we did not receive the discount. We didn't expect a random discount but it would have been best to not mention it if they wouldn't follow through. I think that was just an innocent oversight.We spent $25 - $35 a person every meal.Overall, the experiance was worthwhile. They were close to our lodge so convenient to go. We tried 12 different dishes plus a few appetizers and enjoyed it.

The food was great. I had the filet mignon and was cooked perfectly and a bowl of soup. The restaurant wasn’t very busy when I was there just wish the service would have been a bit faster. My waitress was awesome and I think the hold up was in the grill.

The shrimp crab wrapped with bacon was just sublime . They exceed expectations with the unassuming exterior. And the staff were so kind and attentive. Thanks for a beautiful lunch .

First, let me say that the food and service was excellent. The restaurant, also, has very good menu choices. However, the decor is absolutely the WORST!!! Plastic fitted tablecovers, uncomfortable seating, Heavy, awkward LARGE wood wall plaques. Old dirty looking flooring. Dank atmosphere. The atmosphere overall brought our dining experience down. I definitely will not recommend, nor eat there myself, until they get out of the 70's, and join the modern , clean looking world. For those who say it is "Up north vibe"... oh lord NO! NOT even "campy cute".

One of my favorite restaurants. We've been going here for over 15 years with my parents mostly but by ourselves as well. The menu is very kid friendly although my kids are all teenagers now. The fish is excellent as are many of the other entree's. One of the few places where you get a choice of soup or salad and a potato and a vegetable as part of your meal.

Went here with my Uncle who put the addition on. Great food!! (I highly recommend the onion rings.. picture posted is a 1/2 order.) Friendly service!! Will be going again next time we're in the area!!!
