EDIT - The owner reply to my concern about getting into the vet within 5 days. They clarified a vet just need to be scheduled within 5 days (See reply). I have changed the entire review after this to reflect the speedy response and our original feelings.My wife originally came here with the kids and found a puppy they absolutely adored. After that she was able to convince me to get in there, and a long story short we ended up putting the puppy on hold. This was a really nice experience because we were hosting Easter that day and they allowed us to place a deposit and secure the dog that we really, really wanted.The experience from there continued to be very positive, with an exceptional staff who were very knowledgeable and helpful while we were going through this process. Now we have a new puppy for the family, who is settling in fantastically, and we are incredibly happy with the experience!

The Family Puppy helped me in finding my furever fur baby! They were so kind at this location and helped in answering all of my questions regarding any of the puppies. I got my Shihton fur baby "Betty White" from the Novi Family Pet a little over a year ago. At that time, finding a pet was extremely hard due to covid. I stumbled upon the family pets website and was immediately impressed by how easy it was to view all the puppies info online. Finding my Betty wasn't hard at all, and even more impressive, I was able to set up a meet and greet with her the day she became available. The staff was very friendly, even under the strain of covid, they did their best to provide me with safe and excellent customer service. Once I got my baby home, I discovered that she was a diva almost immediately. This little baby is like no other dog I've met. She's gentle, happy, cuddly, smart, and so beautiful, especially her eyes; her eyes are just heart melting! The only small issue I had with her (which is normal for little dogs), she was a picky eater. Luckily the owner, who is very friendly and caring, was super helpful and readily available by phone with any concerns. I'd give the Family Puppy 1000 stars, they gave me the happiness I needed during such an unprecedented time and I am forever in love with Betty!

Wonderful pet store. The puppies here are treated well and the shop is kept in great condition. We were assisted by Alexis today and she communicated well with us. Also got to spend some good time with a few puppies. Prices are very comparable to other shops.

My husband surprised me with our CotonPoo, Marshmallow, from The Family Puppy of Fountain Walk on Mother's Day. They allowed us to spend as much time as we needed playing with her and getting to know her, which was really important to me since we have two children. They were also very thorough in explaining how to care for our puppy and encouraged us to call with any questions, which I did a few days after bringing her home just to get some clarification on Marshmallow's care instructions.The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable and we felt well prepared taking our little girl home. She has been an absolute joy!

The smell is horrendous in here. The cages are so small and filled with shredded paper as “cushion”. Don’t go in unless you want to walk out with tears in your eyes with how awful it is in there.

The staff is very nice and the puppy seem to be really well taken care of. Nice to come in and see the puppy’s and get to play and meet them. Would definitely recommend visiting. Love that they offer financing for the puppy as well!!

If I could give zero stars, I would. I have never been in a pet store that made my eyes water from the smell of urine and lack of care of the animals. My husband walked in and walked right back out because the smell was so pungent in the store it was making him sick. The big dogs are in pretty small cages and they all looked sad and just wanted out. It was horrific to see the animals in these living conditions. Please do not support this pet store. I do not know how they get away with the obvious lack of care for these animals. These babies do not deserve to live this way.

Walked in after 2pm and the lights were still off. I politely asked if they were open and was told by the staff person "I think so." Nobody greeted us, and so we walked around for 2 minutes and then walked out. The smell was really bad and the puppies were in pretty small cages. It made us sad.

Zero stars. This place is DISGUSTING!! You can see and smell the mold right when you walk through the doors. There’s yellow mold and pee all over each of the cage doors that no one cleans. The employees don’t seem to care how the dogs are cared for whatsoever. Trapped in tiny cages for their prime socializing age.

Poor dogs are held in extremely small cages, with no water, no toys, no blanket. It is very easily seen they are not taken care of very well. This should not be allowed!

As soon as you open the door, the stench is overwhelming. I had to walk out a few times to get fresh air. One puppy scratched my sons nose and it was bleeding all over. No one asked if he was ok. No offered any help. My son was shaking and beginning to cry. At one point I asked for a paper towel and the employee just shoved the roll in my direction. There was blood all over the floor and he literally looked at it and looked away. I used paper towels to clean it. Then I asked if there was a sink or bathroom (since blood was everywhere). The 2 employees looked at each other and one motioned to take us to the back. When I came back to the front, the blood on ground was still there and I bent down to clean it again. No one offered me any help or cleaning supplies. No even asked if he was ok! The lack of kindness shown to us is a reflection on how they probably treat the puppies.

Absolutely do not buy anything from here. The dogs are very poorly taken care of. They sleep in small cramped cages and all look very depressed. These poor dogs need to be in a properly maintained shelter.

Our visit to the store and play date was okay.. the prices are about 2k higher then local breeders but the dogs seem well cared for but the cages are very small. I do hope for the sake of the dogs they are housed elsewhere outside of visiting hours. Zero follow up though after talking about financing and adoption.Editing my review: The team at Family Puppy called me immediately to let me know that I fell through the cracks with their new system and were very apologetic. Had a great conversation and learned more about the care of their dogs and next steps. Also was very helpful in discussing introducing our other dog to a new puppy.We ultimately ended up at a rescue because I couldn't get comfortable with the ethical side of purchasing from The Family Puppy when there were so many dogs in rescues.

Great experience!!! Alexis was very knowledgeable and attentive to our puppy picking experience! Our Puppy Counselor (as well as the entire staff) did an excellent job answering our questions and made this a memorable family affair! Had much concern and apprehension to purchase from a pet store however The Family Puppy had VERY detailed information on both parents, genetic testing of parents, & breeder videos. Our pup was vet checked prior to sale and also has a free follow up visit with veterinarian. We feel very confident in our decision to give this sweet little puppy a forever home 💗~

This place is clearly not kept well and it seems obvious to me these puppies are not treated well at all. They seemed either overly hyper like they do not get enough play/walk time, or scared/skittish like they are mistreated. I wish I could come rescue all of them, but since I can't, I hope management sees this and takes a look at their employees and what is going on here day-to-day.

You are immediately hit with a strong stench when you walk in. I understand animals come with odors sometimes, but it's overwhelming in there. The puppies have extremely small enclosures and the ones I got to interact with had urine caked on their fur. :( It makes me sad to see them living like that. I am again reminded why pet stores don't deserve my money and instead I should support a local rescue or reputable breeder.

Was told that the credit check for financing was a soft inquiry, but all credit reports for my partner and I show the check as a hard inquiry. Not a huge deal, but credit checks aren't something to lie about.Puppies seem well taken care of and happy, but prices are SIGNIFICANTLY above what local AKC registered and trusted breeders charge. The benefits you receive here, such as health guarantees and joint guarantees, are no different than what you'd receive at any reputable breeder for a fraction of the price. The only difference is a warranty to "replace" or pay you for a percentage of the dog if something tragic were to happen in the first 2 years. Just like a car warranty, it's incredibly rare for something to happen in the first two years and warranties are designed to INCREASE a company's profits, not cause them to spend money.If you have a huge wallet and are willing to pay for the small increase in convenience, this is an excellent place to go. But if you're willing to spend an extra few days searching for and speaking with local breeders, you'll likely save thousands of dollars for a similar or better quality pet.

The staff was not helpful and the girl working there left because I was asking for a dog. The dogs kept nipping at me and the staff did nothing about it... I would recommend The Family Puppy Of Oakland Mall more! (better service)

We bought our Shichon puppy from them. The price seemed a little high but it was all worth it. They showed me the breeder info which was really helpful to determine how large our 2 pound purchase would get. She is now fully grown at 6.5 lbs and very healthy. We continue to use the Veterinarian they recommended and are really happy. This was over 4 years ago and I highly recommend The Family Puppy of Fountain Walk.
