Our bullmastiff, Annie, has enjoyed kennel stays before, but she's REALLY looking forward to her next "vacation" at Bittersweet Pet Resorts in Niles. She came home super tired and super happy; and my husband and I are totally grateful for the care she got. When checking in, the staff put all my concerns (about preventing her tendency toward knee issues) put into "notes" into her "folder." Annie girl did not return home with any knee pain or with any signs that she played too hard. The daily pictures were well worth the extra $5/day, along with the "report cards" that gave us many laughs. I especially liked when those arrived a little earlier. Thank you so much. Annie will be back! * * * * *

Took our 2 mini bernedoodles to get groomed for the 1st time. They did SUCH an amazing job and the pig tails they put on them are soooooo cute! Told them what we wanted and she did an even better job than we expected. Definitely recommend and will be going back. Staff was very friendly and nice.

I was super worried about leaving reactive rescue dog with anyone but the staff at Bittersweet was absolutely amazing, you can just sort of tell they are going to be amazing the second you walk in the door by how they all turn to mush over every dog that walks in the door. It helps that they were totally confident that they could handle my dog, add in that they have trained behaviorists on staff. Received pictures of the staff cuddling my dog and it melted my heart to know he was getting the love he needs while we were away. I feel like I can go on vacations and not have to worry one bit about my dogs well being. We will absolutely be boarding with Bittersweet again.

Otis loves daycare at Bittersweet Pet Resort! He loves the staff and his fur buddies! When we take him there he is literally shaking in excitement when he figures out where we are going. Such nice people and fair prices. Buy a bundle of 5-10+ visits and save money The best thing for our us too, is they offer Daycare on Saturdays.

I love bringing my pup, Onyx, here! He has been attending their new day school program and it is doing great things for him! He is learning basic manners, and how to engage in proper play. I used to take him to my parents and he was so crazy their dog didn't really like playing with him. Since attending day school he has gotten so much better at playing nicely and now when I take him to my parents they run around and have a great time! He is always so wore out at the end of the day. He comes home and goes right to his bed until dinner time. The staff is so caring and wants the best for him. He has a sensitive tummy so he cannot have anything outside of his normal kibble and they were so happy to accommodate that for him. BEST doggy daycare around!

I love taking my dog here for boarding! She is always so happy when I pick her up. I have peace of mind knowing the staff takes great care of her. I have boarded at the Niles and Three Rivers locations, and have been really impressed every time!

Took 2 of my pups to get groomed. I've used their daycare before and been very happy. Well, this was my young pups first grooming and she did great! They both look fantastic, they came home happy, and it was a great price. Lol dogs...

I called to receive more information to board over the holidays. The person I talked to explained the prices incredibly fast. When I asked for an email/spreadsheet of the pricing information, I was told that they were not able to show me that, only tell me over the phone. Then, later in the call she asked if I would like to put a card on file to hold the reservation. I told her no as I was still looking at other places. She continued to explain how they are filling up and asked again for a card to put on file, in which I told her no for the second time. She then proceeded to ask if I would like to have my dogs bathed before going home, I declined politely and she yet again pushed me to add a bath to their stay, in which I had to tell her no for the second time. At this point I just hung up.Seems to me they are just money hungry and do not care about what the owners wants/needs are, just looking to make more money. This gave me bad vibes and I will be looking into other locations instead.

We boarded our two ladies at bittersweet for a week long vacation, and we could be at peace while enjoying our time out of the country knowing that our dogs would be well taken care of. When it came time to pick them up, one of them even did a double take and thought twice about leaving the fun place to go home! The staff is very helpful and the grounds are well kept. They offer to have dogs boarded together or separate, as well as packages including individual play times, visits from the treat trolley, and you can even schedule for them to be bathed, groomed, and smelling fresh upon pick up! The price for all their services and boarding options seemed well scaled for me, I would recommend it over any other boarding facility that I visited in comparison, provided by others nearby.

The staff were nice but we were misled about costs from the start. We were told the first night is free, but not additional expenses. We also didn’t get the first night free and rather than refunding the money, they claimed that they couldn’t do it and could only add credit to our account. Seeing as we’ve already spent over $600 there, that’s an absolutely unacceptable answer.They also failed to report our dog’s injuries that he sustained while staying there. His nose had multiple areas that were rubbed and scratched raw. When we called to ask about it after seeing it in his pictures, they claimed someone should have called and informed us but did not. They also did not inform us that our dog was refusing to eat, so once we got him back, we realized that he was dangerously thin. Had we known, we would have scheduled to pick him up sooner. That’s more on us for trusting them as when we toured the place initially, we saw a dog bleeding from its paw and staff didn’t even notice until we did.Given what’s happened with this place, I don’t recommend leaving your pet here. The staff are very nice, but the practices are nothing but shady. I regret leaving my dog under their care and the fact that they misled us on costs and then didn’t even properly charge us on top of refused to refund the mistake, you’re better off looking elsewhere for boarding.

We could only afford the basic package. When we picked up our dogs, they smelled of urine, their kennel was filthy and their blankets were wet. Definitely not going back. It appears the more you spend the better your dog will be cared for.

Can’t say enough good things about Bittersweet Pet Resorts! Miiko and Ruby absolutely love their time at daycare, they come home exhausted and happy! Ms. Amantha is just incredible with how she interacts with the pups, and I can tell my girls just love her! Ruby (my puppy) has been people shy, and yet, she RUNS to Amantha. She’s an awesome trainer and I would suggest anyone who’s on the fence about taking their fur babies to daycare, take them there!! They are in great hands with Amantha and the other trainers! They have taught me so much and have educated me on how to be the best dog mama I can be! Bring your fur babies here for daycare and anything else, you won’t regret it! 🐾

Bittersweet is awesome! I’ve been bringing my Blue Heeler, Punky, here since he was a pup. The staff is awesome and very friendly. Sarah is so sweet to meet us out front in the morning when she can. She understands Punky isn’t a “morning dog” and doesn’t rush him! Amanda has been so great working with Punky on his “problem areas” and has suggested useful techniques I can work on at home. Bittersweet is a win for me and Punky!

Gus has been going to Bittersweet Pet resort since June and he was 10 months old.He is a much better pup! He gets to expel all his puppy energy, run with his pup friends and Miss Amantha and Miss Sarah, as well as the rest of the staff just LOVE him.They are so patient with him as he’s a wiggle worm!! They also help with basic commands.He is always excited to go AND is typically fast asleep before we even hit the main road ❤️

My dog, Louie has been going to Bittersweet since the fall and he LOVES it! My boyfriend and I were looking for a new place to have Louie go after we had a bad experience at another daycare. I was a little hesitant when I first brought him over because I wasn't sure he was going to get the same amount of play time etc. that he was at the other place, but after talking with Lynna and the rest of the staff, I felt assured that this was the best place to go.Whenever it is camp day, Louie knows it! He is so pumped to go and play with all his friends-canine and human! When he gets to camp, he is all smiles, which is funny because it looks like he is growling.Lynna and Morgan are the 2 ladies who I interact with most and I know that Louie is well cared for by both of them because I see how they are with their own dogs. Louie, Mike and I have been treated like family. I am never worried about Louie being safe or playing with other dogs because those ladies are there to watch him!Bittersweet also has fun parties and they do a good job at being creative! Louie loves all the snacks and the doggie beer, although his body might not love it as much... ;) They take pictures and post them all the time so you can see what your dog did the day they went to camp and who they made friends with.They keep to small play groups (about 10 dogs, i think) and are always watching out for each dog in the playgroup. Best part is that Louie comes home tired! He gets a little sprite at dinner, but then calms down and is tired from a good day at camp!I have always had a good experience bringing Louie to Bittersweet and they always do their best to care for my dog.

All the pups love their playtimes, getting to meet so many different pups that are stay here too, and the pups love to make so many new pup best friends.

Bittersweet Pet Resorts is the right place for your pups! They treat every dog like their own from what I’ve seen. My dog Bentley is a very nervous boy, but when I picked him from lodging, he didn’t even wanna leave them! The best part about Bittersweet is they’re a small business, so they really take the the time to make sure my pup was comfortable. It’s very fair priced compared to surrounding resorts. I’ve been to other surrounding resorts and I’ve only been happy with Bittersweet! Highly recommend their services, especially if you’re a worrisome person about your family pets.

If there was a zero, I would rate a zero. I boarded my 11 month old puppy at Bittersweet pet resort thinking that I was making a wise decision as they would have experience with big puppies like mine and I wouldn’t need to worry about him while I was on vacation for 8 days with my family. I was mistaken. My puppy hardly ate while he was at Bittersweet, they still tried to groom him even though he was so stressed he wouldn’t eat (most likely making the issue worse), NEVER let me know anything was wrong. Not even when I picked him up. I had to ask about why they sent me home with almost all the food I took for him. I got my puppy home and within an hour he was laying down, had labored breathing, was vomiting, and appeared to have alot of abdominal pain. My vet was amazing and called me every day for 2 weeks to check on him. It took 2 weeks for my puppy to be able to eat normal food and have a normal bowel movement again. I really thought he wasn’t going to make it. The two times my phone calls were returned as “follow up” within a 3 week period I do not feel were adequate for the severity (per vet) of the situation. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

We have a very shy, nervous dog and Bittersweet has been wonderful to him AND for him! We utilize day care and we did a Lodge and Learn training stay and are very pleased with the care our boy has received. I ran a boarding facility for five years so I am EXTREMELY picky on where I take my dogs. We are new to the area and my heart is so happy we have found a place that treats our boy with such kindness, patience and love! Day care is great for helping with his socializing, getting him nice and tired or just getting a crazy puppy out of the house for a bit! We would recommend them to anyone! All of their staff is fabulous!
