Larry and Tara are amazing. We have been dealing with them for a while and they are truly the epitome of what the U.P. Is all about. The cabins are clean and well stocked and the store has everything you need. They are knowledgeable about the area and always have time for a chat and some input of where to go or what to do. We look forward to our visits and love the vibe there.

We rent canoes yearly as part of our family reunion. In the past, we rented canoes from Rainbow Lodge, which no longer rents canoes since the Duck Lake fire. This year we rented from North Store with a group of 40. This size group is tricky to coordinate. The experience once on the river was beautiful as always. I’m giving four stars for the coordination and work it took to get on the river. In the past, we usually left our cars at the trips end and was taken by bus to the launch point. With North Store we all drove to the launch point, then the drivers had to drive back out and to the end point to leave our cars. We had someone in our group stay behind and drive us all crammed into one car back to the launch point. It seemed a bit confusing and that there might be a better way. It took us 2 hours to sign in, drive back and forth, and then finally get on the river, all for an hour on the river. Again, we had a large group, but even with a small group, the coordination seemed cumbersome and a few steps could possibly be removed. Instead of meeting at the store, meet at the end point and have a van that takes you to the launch point? Not sure what the solution is, but regardless, we had an amazing time. The two hearted river is beyond beautiful, and ending up on the shores of Lake Superior is a dream. Highly recommend, but pack your patience.

Larry and Tara are excellent hosts! The cabins are always clean, comfy and well-stocked. They have kayak and ORV rentals and they're really knowledgeable about all the cool stuff there is to do. We stay with them every year and we definitely recommend!

We have our own kayaks but we needed a shuttle to drop us off. They were super friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend using this place if you want to kayak the two hearted river. We followed the owner to an old campground along the river to drop our equipment off and we then dropped our car off at the rainbow lodge. The kayak trip took about 3 hours and it was gorgeous!

Larry and his crew are beyond helpful. Absolutely Awesome peopleto deal with. Stayed up at his cabins snowmobiling. Cabin was a 10was clean, had every thing that was needed, and loaned us tools to fix our sleds.. These people are incredible.

Do not rent from this place! Just rented 2 4 wheelers, a 4 seater sided by side and a 2 seater side by side for 24 hours. About 2 hours into the trip the maintenance required message displayed in the 4 seater. We came back into town to call the North Store and were told is no big deal. Just keep riding. About 4 hours into our rental the belt broke. We had to pack everyone into the other vehicles and come back. Only to find out that there is a $50 charge for each vehicle that has mud on it!!! Seriously, we were out on the trails, there is mud on the trails! We ended up just turning everything in early and after paying for a 24 hour rental, and only having them for 6 hours we got $80 back. Very Disappointed!

Best resource for fun and adventure in the area. They have practically every need covered for a great weekend. Onsite rentals for snowmobile and orvs. Guide service available and free advice. Make it a point to stop in and say Hi.
