A well put together private zoo. I was very impressed on how all the animals looked well taken care of and on the paths through the zoo were well shaded with lots of benches to take rest stops at. There were free roaming peacocks and assortment of chickens the habitats were clean. It took about an hour to get through the zoo our teenagers even enjoyed the experience especially the parkett enclosure. It's definitely a good stop to make of US 2.

This is a great zoo. They have as good of variety animals as any big city zoos. They offer some food for feeding some animals. This zoo offers everything a big city zoo has and you don’t have to walk 10 miles to see everything. The two bears with the dog and bird house were a highlights.

This was a really nice little zoo. Staff was friendly. Zoo was clean. It does require walking on wood chip trails. Some elevation changes while walking. Alot of nice animals to see. All appear well taken care of and happy. I would highly recommend checking it out especially if you have young children. Good time for the whole family. 👍

I visited Garlyn zoo while on a trip with my girlfriend up north. It was a smaller zoo tucked away that we saw while passing by and decided to pay a visit. I can’t express how glad I am that we decided to check it out. It was some of the animals you would expect to see at a zoo, however there was much more to it! One of my absolute favorite things we got to see and get pretty darn close too were the peacocks….and the baby peacock. They had chickens some birds and peacocks roaming around somewhat freely! And behind a female peacock we saw a baby following her not far behind! They had so much more such as ostriches, goats, a ton of different wild dogs. And my second favorite was the cute little mudskipper they had inside one of the building exhibits! It may seem like a smaller zoo but what they lack in space they sure do make up for with the creatures they have for everyone to come and see! Highly recommend paying a visit to Garlyn zoo.

On our way back to mainland Michigan from the Munising, we had a stop at this beautiful zoo place.. the vibe of the place was surreal.We stopped for some time and clicked some nice photographs with the cinematic welcome entrance of the zoo. Worth visiting!

Wonderful place! Staff was friendly, animals were well fed and didn't act anxious or sad at all. Place was clean and was a good deal per ticket. Highly recomend if you have an hour and a half to 2 hours of free time near there. We had a blast. Buy the apples, buy the bird feed sticks, do al lthe little extras, it's worth the extra 10 bucks or so. Your kids will love this place. There is q gift shop as well for little souvenirs and there is also a food trailer outside gate with picnic area if u need snacks. Great afternoon adventure for a Family!!!

Fun lil place to visit! The animals all seemed happy and well cared for. It wasn't very busy, which made for a nice stroll. Luvd feeding an apple to the bear!!! I would recommend! 🐻

Had a great time today. Never boring going to the zoo with my kids. We were super excited seeing the kangaroos this trip. A nice surprise was that all moms got in free because of mothers day. We visit this zoo a couple times a year and it never disappoints!

What a awesome facility! I never thought I'd be going to a zoo in the UP! They had a huge variety of animals from birds to big cats and everything in between. We seen some beautiful lions, tigers and bears... Oh my! Lol. There was a separate building on site for reptiles, small primates and big scary bugs! What a great place to stop and what a wonderful surprise to find in the UP! Thank you Garlyn Zoo for having us and we'll definitely be back in the future! Come on through and help support these guys in everything they do! These animals need as much support as we can give them as well as the business itself. 🐺 🐵🐯🦁🐻 🐸

Amazing is all I can say. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They have a variety of animals and they have little plaques of info hanging around. If you have not gone, what are you waiting for?! Absolutely love this zoo. Cannot wait to go back next year.

I would say this is the David in David vs Goliath of Zoos. It's small but mighty and hands down one of the best zoos I've been to.The enclosures felt more natural than most and the animals were closer and more interactive.Great variety and friendly knowledgeable staff. We live five hours away and we'll definitely be back.

I live in Saint Ignace and it was my First time there. We Took my grandson and he loved it so much he wants to go back 🤗 . Not a huge Zoo, but just right. We brought our son and his family this week and we absolutely loved it so up close and personal with all the animals it was awesome. We were there at the perfect time it was around feeding time 3pm so all the animals were active such a great place to take your family every worker we talked to was very friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. We are already planing to go back next year.

What an awesome place to visit in the UP!! Great place to take the family and spend the afternoon!! My boyfriend and I visited while vacationing to Mackinaw and I must say what a great jem to find!! They have a variety of animals, including lions, tigers, bears (oh my!) 😊 wolves, hyenas, foxes, a wolverine, capybaras, porcupine, kangaroo, alligators and the list goes on! You can feed the goats, feed the deer vegetable sticks and you can also feed the bears apples!! There is also a separate cage where you can feed birds such as parakeets and finches!! There is a separate building on site that houses smaller primates, nocturnal animals, large snakes, bugs, frogs and turtles! Then you'll end your animal adventure through the gift shop, so make sure to grab a souvenir and support the zoo! Thanks Garlyn for a wonderful afternoon and we'll see you all again soon!

It was a good day today at the zoo. Although the humidity added to the stench it was a nice visit. My only negative comment is that you could definagely tell the tigers were and large predator animals were very very stressed. Very stressed and pacing, I can't think of any zoo I've ever visited that puts the wolf enclosure so close to the big cats it definitely creates a conflict when it comes to larger predators and their territorial instincts I hope someone can donate to them to help them expand to rebuild some nicer enclosures and clear some the pine trees.... Most the animals seemed fairly old and somewhat miserable besides the bears who were no doubt loving the Apple buffet the tourists were providing.

We had 3 adults and 6 children, we all had a blast!! The bird enclosure and bunny 🐰 enclosure were new this year and our kids spent a lot of time feeding the birds. Good well done from the staff who made this happen, thank you for a great experience.
