Most delicious Fish n Chips ever, daily fresh catch from Lake Superior, Gitche Gumme.In addition to the whitefish we were lucky to get some trout, a pink meat, richer taste. Lightly deep fried in a delicate peppercorn and lemon batter. They said they are considering going with Avocado oil in the future and also gluten free. Stopped here for my first experience of whitefish. I thought it was fantastic. My cousin (a local Michigander and self-proclaimed whitefish afficiando) thought it was ok. Owner and the two ladies were very nice. Owner had his 16 yr old pooch and told us about his friend that was in Grand Funk Railroad! Its set up in a parking lot. Weather was glorious although quite windy. Slaw was tasty but very small serving.

The fish is great, I mean really great, and in pieces not a fillet. It's breaded in cornmeal instead of a wet batter, really tasty. Staff couldn't be nicer. Sole reason it's not 5 stars is that the fries/chips just fall short, it's like they were just barely dropped in oil, which given how crispy the fish is doesn't make sense, maybe it's a local thing.

I like the fact that the owner makes the food fresh. There is longer normally a 15-20min wait for your food to be ready and sometimes longer if there are alot of people. The location is not easy to find without google maps as it's on the side behind another building.... essentially the alley. Outdoor seating is available but limited to a first come first serve basis. Most people get the food to go and head to a nearby park to eat. As for the food, I was a little disappointed that the fish was dry, it could have just been my portion. The fries were good. Order the 1/4 lbs, it's plenty of fish.

We stopped by The Fish Basket on our way back from Pictured Rocks and were pleasantly surprised. The owner was so friendly and we really enjoyed talking to him as we waited for our order. He made us a batch of fish and fries which tasted very fresh and was perfectly seasoned with their special seasoning. We left extremely happy that we got to experience the food and discover this hidden gem!

WOW! Best fried fish I ever had no joke! Falls a part in your mouth and fish Is caught fresh every morning from Lake Superior! Family owned business and a small food shack with outdoor seating! CASH ONLY! Recommend getting the 1/2 pound if your super hungry. Fries were delicious too! 10/10 would recommend you won’t be disappointed.

This was the best fish fry I’ve ever eaten and a half pound of fresh white fish (you can watch him cut it up and bread it)! It was so good! Cute little outdoor/garage seating. The owners are super nice and helpful with any little tips you might want for the area! A great little hole in the wall!

We stopped by this place after visiting Pictured Rocks. This was our first time trying white fish and it was freshly caught! The fish was fried to a perfect extent and the seasoning was very flavorful. We also love the hand cut fries and coleslaw.Plus, the owner was super friendly! We felt welcomed.Parking: plenty of street parking spots available

Not going to lie, I was leery of this place, but the food blew me out of the water!! Probably the best white fish I have ever had! The seasoning on it was perfection! We got a 1/2lbs basket with fries, ate it all, and I wanted to go back for more! Fish and fries were perfectly crispy. Bonus points for the owners cute doggie Tex being out front for pets! Highly recommend! Also fyi: it is CASH only.

BEST fish and chips we had in the area!! Everything is fresh and made from scratch. We happened to be ordering when a fresh fish delivery was being made and when fresh bags of potatoes were being brought in for the fries. Liked that fish and fries weren’t greasy. The homemade coleslaw was delicious too! Located right downtown and there is ample, comfortable seating! Ate there 2x and if we were in the area longer would have gone again. We also had the fish taco which was delicious too!Parking: Plenty of on street parking.

Ate here last week. Fish was excellent. You could tell it is very fresh. Plenty of outdoor/garage seating. Nice if you’re hungry and don’t want to dine at a restaurant. Workers were really friendly. Might be better if they could roll out the fish faster when they are busy.

Stopped here for a quick lunch & met the owner, Sam, who was endlessly kind and even let us pet his adorable dog. Had Gluten Free fried fish (they use corn meal instead of flour) and fries- both amazing! Hugely appreciated since I have a gluten allergy and it's always so hard to find safe options in the UP. Adorable signs & paintings too :) Will definitely be back!

This was the best damn fresh-caught fried whitefish I’ve had in my entire life. This little stand should have people flocking from miles around to enjoy.No batter: just the fish pieces tossed in some cornmeal, fried, with a little lemon pepper. Because it’s cornmeal—it’s gluten free and lets the whitefish shine without oily heavy batter getting in the way. It’s perfect and unbelievable.Fries: perfection. Coleslaw: delicious. Fish tacos: basically the amazing fried whitefish with the coleslaw in a tortilla = fantastic.The folks running the place are super friendly and deserve your business! You won’t regret it!Dietary restrictions: Everything here is gluten free except the bun if you get a sammich and the flour tortilla for the tacos.

We found this place accidentally while visiting the Munising area oh, and we were very pleasantly surprised. The food is so good here that they often sell out I am told by some of the locals. The Whitefish was absolutely perfect

The owner, Sam, is clearly proud of his product. The fish basket (Superior whitefish) and fish taco (Superior trout) were both amazing. As fresh as can be since the fish was still swimming earlier today! Will definitely come back next time we get here.

I got the fried whitefish basket, which was $14 and included fries and a small cup of coleslaw, and while it was good, it was not extraordinary. The wait, however, was extraordinary. It took about 20 minutes to get to the window to order, then were told it would be another 45 minutes before it was ready. They seem to only be able to make small batches, so only a few baskets could be made at a time. The people who ordered right before us were finished eating before ours was ready, so this is not a fast kitchen. I might go back, but only if there was no line. The food was good, not great, and definitely NOT worth the wait.They also had a chicken finger basket (which they were out of) and a shrimp basket, as well as sodas available for $1.

One of the best fried fish I have had in my life. This is a must place to eat at if you are in the Upper Peninsula especially Munising.In the back of house with seating setup in a garage and some chairs right outside.

Charming little place appealing due to open air tables with umbrellas. They have fish, chips and coleslaw with Tacos or in Basket or a Sandwich. Fries are overdone and slightly burnt. Fish are good but a little salty. Hygiene is lacking as the cook dropped a basket of fries on the ground took it with hands and threw it and without washing hands continued cooking. When we were there a few healty inspectors visiting for checking and found a few issues. The supplies are just zipped up in a tent so can be exposed to insects. If you have patience and dont mind hygiene you can try it out. And no credit cards.

Another classic, simple food truck with tables outside to sit. Serve whitefish with Fry's and coleslaw. Very tasty, but pricey. But I guess when you are in a tourist trap you have to expect that.
