I called on a weekday afternoon to inquire about Moline Cooperative Milling Co’s services. Unfortunately, the woman who answered the phone was unfriendly, unhelpful and seemed to be in a hurry to get off the phone. I thought she might be busy so I told her I would stop by on Saturday. She told me to make sure I “come before noon.”I made the trip on Saturday. After walking around the store for a few minutes I went to the front desk to once again inquire about mixing my own chicken feed. The woman told me “well, you have to buy 500 pounds” in a tone that suggested she was trying to convince me to not mix my own feed. I told her that was fine and presented her with the recipe I had come up with. She looked at it and said “we don’t have wheat and we don't have peas” very matter of factly. She did nothing to offer any other substitutes or suggestions. She also made no effort to explain what poultry nutri-balancer they add to their feed. “Some kind from Hubbard.”While I understand this woman may not have a ton of knowledge on mixing feed, chickens, or specific products, she made me feel as I was an inconvenience and a bother for the second time.Thus, I will be taking my business elsewhere.I am leaving two stars instead of one for the friendly lady on the back computer who smiled, greeted me and asked if she could help me find anything.

We are city folk that like to buy in bulk when possible. We really like the 50-lb bags of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to use for cleaning, laundry detergent, deodorant, and more. We usually end up passing Moline at night, so we like that they'll set the product out for us to pick up after hours. It's right near an exit for US-131, so it's convenient to stop here when we're headed to Kalamazoo from Grand Rapids.
