These folks are awesome, super professional and nice. We fostered a few dogs over the holidays and had a few foster-fail close calls, as in, we loved those dogs! These poor little animals were with us as short as two days before they found their permanent homes. A little bit of a heart break every time. Our last one was clear, foster-to-adopt. This stray was too underweight for adoption (17 pounds, initially) for a pittie, staffie, bulldog, hound mix?! Today she was at 30! Still way to go, but she has her home, now. Go volunteer with them, or adopt one. ALL we had were absolutely super cute. Yes training will be needed!

10/10 experience with this shelter. I can't even explain how quick Honey(adopted as Meredith) became a part of our family. We fostered Honey (Meredith) for a week while she was waiting to be fixed to see if there was gonna be good chemistry with our cat and she won everyone's heart immediately. They are now best friends! The staff was amazing through the whole process and made sure we were set up with a healthy dog, on a healthy diet and fixed, all before adoption.

Call today and spoke with a gentleman in regards to adopting two kittens. He explained to me that they close at five and I said that I work 9 to 5 but I can try to get out of work early and I will be there today. The only thing he told me is that the purchase of a kitten is $85 and I’d get $10 off because they were under three months so they have not had their rabies shot. However, I go in there to visit the kittens at 4:10 today and The lady at the front desk said that one of the kittens were already adopted which was totally fine and I said that’s okay I would like to see the other one and she said I can’t because it’s past 4pm. I was so confused because when I spoke with a guy today he did not mention anything about Seeing the animals during a certain time and I specifically told her that, and she shrugged her shoulders and said oh well you can come tomorrow. So I called back the number and the gentleman answered and I said I spoke with you earlier today and I came here to see the kittens and one had been adopted and I wanted to see the other one but I was informed that I can’t Because it’s past four. I said you didn’t tell me that I had to be here past four because I drove 45 minutes to get here. He said I’m sorry I thought I did I said no is there anyway that we can still see the kittens so we can adopt them. And he said no that everyone in the office wants to be out by five. I told him that I didn’t understand why I wasn’t informed that you can only adopt during certain hours and I was upset that I drove all this way to adopt a kitten and they wouldn’t let us. I informed him that I was going to leave a review because of the inconvenience and lack of consideration of explaining this over the phone, knowing that someone left work early. And then he proceeded to say oh I did tell you after I said I was going make a review. Yeah okay. Very unfortunate that the community wants to help out animals and they aren’t willing to adapt. Sounds like they’re more interested in just putting them down

They killed my girl. I surrendered my sweet cat cause she didn’t adjust well to my kids at home. I made it clear the best fit home for her, that I just want her to be in a house more fit for her, she is a very anxious and scared cat that will need time and patience. I told the shelter my fear of then putting her down since she doesn’t adjust comfortably in unfamiliar situations (such as a shelter). They assured me she would be put in the back of the shelter in a quiet space to adjust better before being put out on the adoption floor. I looked for WEEKS. MONTHS for her to show up on the website… my husband finally told me when he called after not getting our euthanasia fee back after 2 weeks that they killed her for being “so fearful they couldn’t handle her to do a medical exam” this is absolutely something that could of been done. Absolutely UNCALLED for. My girl was never aggressive, but scared. She has been to the vet MANY times being able to be handled and cared for. They killed my girl. I really thought I was doing the best thing by giving her a chance to be in a happy home more suitable for her. They killed my girl….I couldn’t be more regretful.

This facility was super clean and warm which was nice for the stray I found. When I walked in I was greeted by 3 friendly faces ready to help me. I was taken through the whole process of surrendering a stray. I had lots of questions and they were eagerly met with an appropriate answer that suited me. I felt risky awful dropping the stray as I usually just find owners myself but this time I couldn't. I was assured by the stray being comfy with the staff immediately that he was in good hands. This is the right place if you can't foster strays you may find!

I adopted a 6 yr old boy and a 3 yr old girl back in November 2019. Both had been there in cages for over 4 months. They're a great compatible match and I just love them both to the moon and back. I have no doubt that my girl was a ferrel cat. She shows all the signs, but she's learning very well from her buddy, I give her plenty of space when she wants it and she's coming along just great. I rated 4 stars only because of staff. Too much to write but all employees and volunteers were definitely not on the same page. Having said that, the woman who took the cats to the cat adoption event at Nemoke Trails was absolutely wonderful! Aside from that, I got 2 wonderful new buddies, and you can see that life is good!

Wonderful experience. Everyone was very helpful. We had been looking to adopt an older dog for a while and saw one that we hoped would fit into our family 😊The staff goes over all of the pet history they have, give recommendations and review the adoption form thoroughly.

They have an awesome cat area here!! Staff is friendly and you are encouraged to come and play with the kitties. There is a kitten room that is so adorable and funny, and in the main room you are allowed to take cats out of their cages and interact with them as well. Super fun day!

A very good shelter, I was able to spend time with the dog 1 on 1 before I choose her, fostered her for about a month and as soon as she was spayed I adopted her!

forever beyond thankful for what they do at this shelter. Trust me when I say this is one of the best and cleanest county shelters you can find around here. they helped me find my dog, formerly known as Cauliflower, who ended up being as sweet as can be and they were willing to bend over backwards to ensure she could find a home

Excellent, clean facility with attentive staff who really care for the animals (you can tell!). Staff are also extremely courteous and professional, and they respond to adoption inquiries quickly. Great experience and would recommend to anyone looking for their next family member. We found a wonderful, big blockhead who has settled right in and who is a very gentle dog despite his intimidating looks.

I adopted a puppy from here who they named gecko. He is the sweetest and funniest dog I have ever been around. The people working at the shelter were friendly and helpful. But it did seem like Hershey formerly known as gecko was dehydrated. And was extremely hungry when we got him home. I am delighted to have adopted him. And happy to say he has found his forever home. Love this puppy so much.

Adopted a dog I saw on their web site. Staff responded to an email inquiry promptly, were helpful when I went to meet the dog (now named Chester), and sent home a swag bag with him.

The staff is very helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. While we were visiting the animals, a volunteer lended my two girls pen lights to play with in the kitten room. Afterwards, when my girls returned their lights, this same volunteer gave them each a new one to take home!We left with two kittens and two pen lights :)This shelter is a little tough to find if not familiar with the area, but well worth driving the extra. My local shelter has nothing on these guys. Check them out!

We took our sons puppy there because his roommate told him he had to find him a new home. Thinking he was being placed in a no KILL shelter I would have figured he would have eventually been put up for adoption but not even five days later they had put him down. Didn’t even give him a chance.

I went there because my awesome amazing "Tigger" had to be put down cuz of cancer..😣 I already had 2 more cats that were also very sad that they had lost their buddy I looked on their website and immediately saw a kitten they called "LA" I called they called me back and very nice on phone so I went to look at him they were all very helpful and the facilities were new and clean and all the animals there looked well taken care of. I filled out an application and took my New kitten home the same day he is an amazing addition to our family but he came with all he needed (shots, wormer, upper respiratory medicine and neutered)😁 I would highly recommend them to anyone who is considering adding or getting a new pet for their family 😁😁

Well trained compassionate cheery staff and volunteers serving and taking care of Ingham counties adoptable dogs and cats. If you want to be loved come here and adopt a dog or cat and take it home. For every teaspoon of love you give your pet they will give you two teaspoons of love back. Remember, two dogs or two Cats are better than one. My only beef with the shelter is that they do not take teenagers in on trade.

I went to do a walk through to see if my missing car had been surrendered to them. She was not. But I was so impressed with the care that was given to the "found" kitties. I will be advocating for and donating whenever I can to the Ingham County Animal Control & Shelter.

I'm very disappointed. I found a stray kitten, which I could not keep, and I was told they do not take cats/kittens anymore. Kittens generally get adopted quickly, I think they should at least take the kittens. I asked what do I do, just put it outside, and she said yes, or she could give me phone numbers for a couple of rescues.

I went to pick out a kitten, but a kitten picked me. I adopted Little Lady(now Sassi) onJuly 1, 2022. She is a beautiful 3 month calico. She is so sweet, loved up to me right away. Got home and she jumped right onto my lap meowing at me. She loves my Cairn Terrier and they play together. She is an indoor cat only, my rules. Thank you Ingham County Animal Control and her Foster Mom for taking good care of her. Only had her 2 weeks and I love her so much. Great job, well done.

We recently brought our 6 month old Saint Bernard pup Millie in for shots, licensing and microchipping. Every single person there that day.... Kudos to all of you. And thanks! So kind and informativeGreat prices too!! Everyone should really consider coming here for vaccinations, etc. For example: microchipping--@ Veterinarian $60-80@ Animal Control $5-15I think that says it all.
