This was our second time staying at the Big Bay Motel. We had the opportunity to meet the new owner and she was amazing. Friendly, helpful, and very welcoming. The facility is nice, perfect for what we were looking for. We will definitely be back.Rooms: The rooms are clean and simple. It had two beds, a large bathroom with a great shower, a refrigerator, and a TV.Nearby activities: This is an outdoor enthusiast paradise. Lots of great hiking and waterfalls. Plus beautiful scenic views of Lake Superior. Marquette isn't very far away for more great hiking, including the NCT. PSafety: Felt completely safe in this area.Walkability: You can walk anywhere from the Big Bay Motel. Everything is close together.Food & drinks: There are three places to eat out at in town. The Thunderbay Inn has the best reubun. Breakfast and lunch can be found at Hungry Hollow Cafe, which is a very easy walk from the motel. The Lumberjack Tavern is a great place to grab a burger.

Superb! Stayed in one of the king suites with sitting room & kitchen. Spotlessly clean, warm, cozy, well-appointed. The furnishings and design are pleasingly simple and good quality and there are unexpected little touches throughout, such as the fully functional kitchen. Would absolutely stay again!

Great place. The owner lives close by, so he arrived 5 minutes after I called requesting a room. He was friendly and gave some local information about roads, employers, the hours of the local establishments (including the Lumberjack Tavern, site of a murder described in the book and movie, "Anatomy of a Murder" starring Jimmy Stewart, Lee Remick, and George C. Scott, filmed on-site in little ol' Big Bay). The room was excellent. Clean, modern. Small fridge, A/C, very clean bathroom. The wifi was a little slow but considering Big Bay is at the end of the earth, I have no complaint. Great place to stay, excellent value. Gas, general store, laundromat, restaurant, and the Lumberjack are within walking distance. Highly recommend the Big Bay Motel.
