We really enjoy our time here every year for the one night pre season special package that was all inclusive with a king room in the main lodge with water view and ferry tickets to and from the island and luggage transfer as well as food vouchers that we used for dinner and breakfast at Round Island restaurant onsite! Accommodations and service was wonderful! We plan to return every year!

I loved that our luggage was transported from the dock to the hotel (at no charge), the ride was also provided. The staff was so friendly and treated all with respect and seemed happy to do so. The restaurants, altho a bit expensive, had great food and service. The rooms are outstanding, clean, neat, comfortable. Housekeeping was polite and worked efficiently. The location was great for those doing the Great Turtle Race, but a bit far from downtown, but not a bad walk. You could take the shuttle provided to and from downtown. I would like, next time, weather permitting, to rent a bicycle for riding around the island. I highly recommend Mission Point Resort to anyone staying on the island.

Stayed here for our nephew's wedding. A lovely property with an amazing staff and excellent service. From check in to check out, everyone was friendly and eager to assist you. Great location, easy to walk to restaurants and shops or had the ability to catch their horse and carriage shuttle at the front door. Food and beverages on site were also excellent. Enjoyed ending every day with a night cap in front of one of the five fireplaces in their warm and welcoming lobby. Russell at the lobby bar always made our night with his excellent Espresso Martini!

Second time staying at Mission Point. It's a nice place to stay, the staff is fantastic, friendly and helpful. As others have said, it's a little tired. Our room had a few issues, nothing major - shade for the light fixture over the sink was missing.Had lunch and 2 breakfasts there and the food was great! This visit we had a friend with us that would have preferred taking the shuttle to downtown, but we discovered the shuttle was $8/ea one-way. Ouch! Seems like that would be something the hotel included in the daily rate.Overall, nice place.

Very fun, old worldy, feel to this resort. For starters, you get a 🔑 for your room. An actual key! So great. All of the staff is very helpful and friendly. The whole island is nice and clean (with the exception of the horse droppings. They keep up, but there are a lot of horses). The food throughout the town is good. The restaurants in the hotel are terrific. My only gripe would be that the mattress' could use updating. They were a little worn out.Rooms: Old style vacation. Do not expect a bunch of modern attractions. Yes, they have television, but smaller bathrooms and charming decore.Nearby activities: Towards the edge of town but only about a 10-15 minute walk to the main shops. Almost everything on the island is something to see. Would recommend Forge a Memory for sure. You can make your own knife from a rail spike or horseshoe!Walkability: Great hiking to beautiful views. You can also bring or rent bikes to see more in a timely manner.Food & drinks: In-house restaurants are nice and the food is good. Cafes have talented baristas.

My fiance and I stayed here for a wedding this past weekend. What a gorgeous place, there were moments we just spent by the fireplace in the lobby. It has an old hotel feel and there is a spa, arcade, pool, lobby bar, restaurants and coffeeshop. It was a lovely place and we will certainly be back. I also wanted to thank the manager who helped us when my bag got mangled in transit, she went above and beyond.

We loved everything about this hotel. Every staff person we encountered was professional and efficient but also personal and friendly. The location is exquisite. The view from our room was lovely. It is a beautiful walk from the ferry. We are so glad we chose Mission Point for our stay on Macinac Island.Noteworthy details: I inadvertently left two articles of clothing in our room when we checked out. Hotel staff contacted me even before I realized I had left them. Once I identified my missing clothes, they packaged them up and mailed them to me, free of charge. Their customer service is excellent.

It's an old building, kinda creepy. Definitely gives "The Shining" vibes. Our rooms were not updated, old school metal keys for the locks and everything. We didn't spend much time in our hotel room, so it didn't really matter, we were too busy exploring the island. The hotel itself is beautiful. We loved the coffee shop, stores, and restaurants on site. The location and grounds are beautiful!Walkability: It's at the far end of the island from the shopping and restaurants. There are horse drawn taxis for a fee and bikes for rent. My very active mother in her sixties struggled after hiking around the island and walking back to the hotel.

First, you need to understand that you are getting into very old place. My room smelled old, had very old furniture, old carpeting, ancient air conditioning system with old window units and very noisy central air in the bathroom which runs all the time, not letting you to turn it on or off. The update of that place, especially rooms and all living part of the hotel is long overdue. The bicycles which they promised to rent out were very old as well – the one which was given to my wife was impossible to control. And they are not telling you any of that on their website.Second, when booking you need to be very careful with them, make sure that you get all terms of your stay in writing. I was booking one of their packages with dining credit. On their website it says that the package has $150 dining credit per person. I assume that we will be getting this $150 per person per day. It was three of us and we were staying for two days. Based on that our total dining credit should be $900. I confirmed this $900 dining credit with their booking agent over the phone before I booked the place. When we arrived, I confirmed it with front desk agent as well. My mistake was – both confirmations were verbal, not in writing. At the end my bill had $450 dining credit, not $900. And since I didn’t have it in writing their manager refused to give me what was promised by his employee.

Treated myself to an early birthday gift / took a trip with my mom and my dog! I was initially concerned Friday evening we had some loud/ rude neighbors at the Straits Lodge. I expressed how frustrated I was and how rules should be followed/ that I work in education as a teacher didn’t pay for this to have stress. Amoy at the front desk genuinely cared and sympathized/ understood my situation and helped us change rooms! The following day I went in the lobby she asked me/ wanted to check in how everything was going and really appreciate her help! I enjoy being able to bring my dog up, and enjoy the location it’s beautiful, and the work out room is great! I’ve been coming up multiple years! I will say the luggage staff could have come to room sooner this morning we called at 6:30 they didn’t pick up till 7:05… we were a bit stressed because line for 8:00 am ferry can get long but otherwise great stay.

Had a great time on the island ! Food was delicious, and your beds are so comfortable!! Howard and Libby are the best and both did an amazing job! Howard took care of our pup Robin and was so kind to her! Libby was always there to take care of our room and was always happy and had a smile on her face! This is the 7th year I have been to mission point during October and we will be back again next year!

I know everything on Mackinac Island is fairly expensive, but I feel like for the cost, the rooms were very disappointing. I understand it's an old hotel, but the beds were not very comfortable, the room was tiny, and the bathroom was micro sized. Half of the outlets in the room didn't work, and the closet kept coming off the track. For almost $800 for 2 nights, (that was with a wedding guest discount as well!) it was just not up to our expectations. The staff though? Incredible. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The location of course, is wonderful as well. We didn't try the restaurants at the hotel since we figured the prices would be outrageous as well, so I can't speak on that. I think next time we visit the island we'll try one of the bed and breakfasts instead.

Mission Point Resort is an unbelievably magical place. The views are amazing, from the gardens to the Straights. But what really sets it apart are the staff. The first people you encounter are the wonderful front desk team. After visiting for the last 16 years, we count Tamika and Shequera as friends, but the whole team is so welcoming! Howard and the guys at the bell stand always go above and beyond! From finding lost luggage to making sure that you have everything you need in the room. The housekeeping staff (we had Joette) keeps the facility and the rooms looking great! I can't recommend Mission Point enough! My fall doesn't feel complete without a visit to Mission Point :)

Amazing stay at Mission Point Resort for 15 year wedding anniversary!!! Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, with a serene waterfront setting—-Awesome views of passing freighters in the Round Island Channel, with peak fall colors on Round Island and Bois Blanc Island as a backdrop!! Relaxed on the massive lawn in Adirondack chairs to take it all in!!! Super friendly staff, and very accommodating! Clean room and well appointed. The main lobby is a great place to hang out, warm up by the fireplace and play checkers!!

This is the best way to experience the island. Two nights is plenty of time. The entire vibe changes after the ferries are done running. Our room in the straits lodge was nice with recent renovations. I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend a package with bike rental and food credit. The staff was very pleasant and friendly.Rooms: Clean and recently updated. Mattress was very sleep worthy. Tons of pillows.Nearby activities: It was great to have a little resort feel with a couple of restaurants, a marketplace and bike rental. We didn't opt for the salon and we forget to do theGolf on the greens.Walkability: All you do here is walk. Nothing is flat. I love this part about the island.

This is our second time at Mission Point. We stayed here for our honeymoon and returned for our anniversary. Each time we've loved it and have booked their packages, which are usually a great deal. Yes, the buildings are old but to us that's super neat. You can tell it used to be a college, which creates such a unique atmosphere. The walls are thin since they used to be dorms and if you get stuck next to an inconsiderate neighbor, that can be a problem. Our first stay in the Main Lodge was like that. But our second stay in the Straits Lodge has been quieter. We booked a lovely a hot tub suite. While others complain about the "lack of a view", we loved the privacy of the bluff and watching the bluejays in the pretty wooded area. Front desk was great and added a celebratory message to the lobby screens for our anniversary, which was very sweet. Food from the Round Kitchen is great, especially the whitefish. Overall, we enjoy it here and hope to keep on coming back.

Not worth the price! We visit the island on our anniversary yearly, my husband booked us a room with a soaking tub. The tub did not work properly. It was either extremely hot or extremely cold. No way to relax in it and enjoy. They said they didn't have the part to fix and the front desk gave us the run around. The tub handles fell right off in our hand. Definitely not ok for a so called luxury stay! They could of at least seemed sorry for the inconvenience, when we checked out I handed them the tub handle, so they did end up taking some ( joke) amount off but not ok for leaving us without what we intended for our stay! I should also mention this was a four night trip, not a one or two nights. They definitely should of done better at making us not feel like we wasted our hard earned money on this ghetto trap! Manager couldn't even be bothered to speak with us, they left the front desk clerk to handle it. Such a shame really.

Only a one day stay at this lovely, venerable hotel but it was awesome. Weather gorgeous and they were kind enough to let us check in early, which was helpful. We realize it was luck and effort on the front desk part to do that, especially since they had many Labor Day checkouts that day. Got lost once or twice in the hotel corridors, but the hotel charm made up for it. Pool pretty (unheated) but flagstones a bit loose and tippy. The flowers and grounds are beyond gorgeous. The friendly front desk and other staff are efficient and courteous, and make guests feel honored. We hope to go back!Noteworthy details: The grounds are spectacular and well kept. Many flower gardens..

This place was magical! I brought my dogs on a family vacation. The rooms were clean, all the staff went above and beyond to make the stay so enjoyable. Anything you could need is at the resort. The concierge was able to accommodate our requests, give suggestions and set up excursions. I enjoyed watching the sunrise on the great lawn with my dogs each morning. It was convenient to walk to town or go on the trails. Hands down best resort on the island!

My wife and I stayed Tuesday night here. We loved this hotel. The staff were all polite, welcoming, and approachable; eager to please which was refreshing. Our room was the single king with a lake view; nice decor, clean, and fantastic view across the open lawn to the lake. As the name says, the hotel is located at the furthest point at the southeast end of the island and makes for a charming setting and fantastic walk along the shore to the north and south ends of the property for great lake views. The hotel lobby is huge and has a great vibe to it; nice comfortable updated decor, kids playing, dogs with their owners, guests lounging in different seating areas, etc.If you're trying to decide between Grand Hotel and Mission Point, we much preferred the feel of Mission Point; much cozier, better decor, nicer grounds, etc. Grand Hotel is "grand", but Mission Point had the total "package". We will be coming back and staying again.

Everything was great. It is far out from town so I would definitely recommend taking the shuttle! It is $8 per person CASH & more if u tip (which is where these workers make most of their money) so make sure u have cash on hand. The Straits portion of the resort was very clean especially knowing that there are dogs all over the hotel. We will for sure stay there again! All staff were incredibly nice.

The best Resort on the island. Great location away from the the craziness of downtown. With the recent renovations, the resort is bright, cheery and fresh. The staff is always attentive and friendly. The best part is that fantastic lawn. Settle in an Adirondack chair and just melt in. Everything you need is right there: several restaurants, bike rental, swimming pool, food store, huge lobby with plenty of fireplaces, great rooms....With this also being one of the very few dog friendly hotels on the island, you can bring Fido or just get a doggy fix via all the happy pups around you. Can't recommend Mission Point enough. We'll be back every year.

We will definitely be back! The location was great-easy to get in and out with our bikes and plenty of room at the resort for several weddings being held but weren’t imposing on other guests. The food was great- the cocktails were yummy- the staff was helpful and so kind!Rooms: The president’s suite with the option of the 2 adjoining rooms was absolutely perfect for our family! It’s like having a three bedroom apartment- perfect for grandchildren to run around from room to room and still be safely within our walls.Noteworthy details: The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming!!! FromCathy in reservations, to Tamika and Shequera at the front desk, Damian at the bar, Jason ( hilarious) serving lunch on the patio, Rashan serving breakfast and Howard with bell service!!! We were so impressed by the employees- a very comfortable and welcoming staff!

Mission Point Resort is our destination point when we visit the island. The entire staff of MPR are exceptional! From the front desk, to the bell hops and housekeeping staff, they made our stay a pleasant experience. The staff at the Round Island restaurant are friendly and helpful. MPR is fantastic!Rooms: Very nice views of the lakes. A bit outdated but still very nice. My only negative remark is that the bathrooms are not user friendly for those with mobility issues. The toilets are very low for those who need to use them.Nearby activities: They are a short walk to downtown. Bikes, taxi service and shuttle services are readily available. Too much to see and do if you only stay a couple days.Walkability: They offer taxi service to the docks and resort. The walk to downtown is a short walk ( a bit over 1 mile) and the grounds are well groomed to walk around.Food & drinks: The Round Island restaurant's food is fantastic! Well priced for the quantity you get. Our waiters were fantastic and personable.

I would love to leave a better review. If it was only based on the service and picturesque views, it would be a 5 star all day long. Unfortunately, I have to rate everything. We were in the Straights lodge. The bathroom had many broken and chipped tiles. There were so many that it made the room feel unclean. There was an opening in the vent to the shower that went nowhere. Again, it felt creepy. We had reserved a room for three and it was only set for two. Considering paying extra for a third person, this detail should have been reported to housekeeping while readying the room. Upon arrival, we were happy to see a coffee shop on the first floor. However, when we went to use it the next morning (8am), it was closed. The sign said it was to open at 7am. We had to call to report the missing staff member. I needed to use my own phone because the phone in our room did not work. The TV was beyond tiny. We also had a broken hairdryer. This could be quite a hazard. Since it is a large property, they should have some sort of bikes available to move around the property at no charge. The resorts boast to be extraordinary, yet it lacked attention to detail. If it were not for the views and the phenomenal staff, I could barely give it a 1 star. It is unlikely I would stay there again or recommend it to a friend. It was my first time to the island. The island and employees were well worth the trip. Unfortunately, the resort was a disappointment. I also believe for the rates charged, taxi to and from the hotel (all hotels) should be included.
