Good experience. We went early and got good quality bikes. Don’t need to commit to rental time in advance which worked for us. We thought we needed 4 hours to bike around the island but we made it back in two (including stops at arch rock and the British landing) and thus saved money. We walked to the grand hotel and fortress in Lieu of biking which was a better idea to avoid the pedestrians, horse carriages, and uphill topography on the inner part of the island. Also the included bottle of water was appreciated!!

A group of 4 of us walked up and rented bikes. Friendly and quick service. We were quickly taken to the cruiser bikes, they were ok, gears were a little rough and none of us are really cruiser fans but we weren't given any other options. We figured out the seat adjustments on our own. Be wary of the midges! There were clouds of them on once we got out of town. We went on a pretty non-busy day, and it's about a 1/2 mile walk from the ferry dock to this bike shop. As the bikes all looked about the same and the prices were all about the same, we'd probably just grab a bike at one of the closer shops next time if there were no lines at them. Mackinac Wheels definitely got the job done though and it was a beautiful ride around the loop.

Caught a slow leak in my rear tubeless tire, pulled up asked if they had anything to fix this, a wonderful guy pulled some quick seal, put in in my tire, pumped the tire back up and told me to let it set for a bit and was on my way riding all over the island again in no time! Thank you for being awesome, and fixing my slow leak!!!

Service was good. Staff were helpful. I just dont understand why am I asked to tip on bike rentals! Asking for a tip on bikes that I rode myself and brought it back on time - its ridiculous. Please pay your employees well.

Got to the island with a bent wheel - blame over-strapping newbies with a 10hr drive - and this place came recommended by our hosts. Pete could have had me over a barrel - I needed my bike on Mackinac! - bur he was super friendly, priced very reasonably, and quick with his work. It was done in less than 2 hrs and I received a rapid phone call to let me know. Highly recommend for any issues on the island, he's fair and skilled.

We usually go to the island a few times a year and rent bikes at one of the other shops. The Staff in person were nice enough, but the bikes definitely don't ride as nice as the ones from other vendors. We dropped our bikes off and about 5-6 hours later we got a call from the shop asking if we were keeping them overnight, although they had them. I told them that we dropped them off, paid, and signed a credit card slip. The girl on the phone said their records showed that we still had them. I ended up having to text her a screen shot from my bank showing that I was charged. It was just really frustrating and they seemed incredibly disorganized from start to finish.

My boyfriend broke his bike pedal while on the island. We really didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a new one, as our friend back at home is a bike mechanic and had new pedals waiting for him that hadn’t been installed yet. We stopped at this shop and explained our situation. They generously gave us a used pedal and put it on for free. Even if we would have had to pay, the fact that they listened to us, weren’t pushy, and helped us solved the problem really stuck with us. We will recommend this place to our friends who come to visit and we will return for our bike needs in future visits to the island. Oh, and Chloe is just the best pup too!

By far, the nicest place we stopped on the island! Process was so easy to rent the bike and the staff were so kind. If you have to rent a bike anywhere on the island, this is definitely the place to do it.

I like that I'm supporting local business and getting a good rate on rentals. These folks know how to rightly size a bicycle, tune it properly, and have supplies available if you brought your own bike and need to do a quick repair. I also like that you get their phone number so if you have issues with your rental while on a ride they can come help you out.

Very helpful! I got a flat tire on my bike while on the island. We brought it to them and they got to work on it immediately. Had the bike fixed within 15-20 minutes. They answered all of our questions and it was very reasonably priced. I would recommend!

We had an overall positive experience here. Other mentioned that they got free maps and baskets. You do, but we needed to ask for them. It wasn’t offered. The bikes were very comfortable and the staff was generally nice. They were busy so they didn’t engage with us much, but also were not outwardly rude. We were able to bike the entire island in about an hour and forty-five minutes and our total was around $100 for four bikes.

Amazing seamless bike rental experience from start to finish!We chose this place based on reviews and it did not disappoint. They had plenty of bikes to choose from, and we were on our way within 5 mins of arrival.The bikes were comfortable and steady. The business provided a service number we could call if we encountered any issues with a flat wheel or other mechanical problem.Definitely would rent again!

Absolutely fantastic experience! Fair prices, and I loved that they prorated if you didn’t take a full hour! Free baskets and helmets and they take the time to make sure you get a bike that’s comfortable! Exceptional experience and my bike was very comfortable. If you’re having a hard time deciding, definitely walk the extra steps to come here!Amazing way to see the island, I’ll definitely rent here again next time I visit!

You can't help but get a sense that many of the bike rental shops on the island are actively trying to be "tourist traps". We found Mackinac Wheels to be quite the opposite; they were helpful, down-to-Earth, and felt very much like "your friendly neighborhood bike rental shop".They are a bit further away from the port, but still easily within walking distance. Take a nice stroll down to Mackinac Wheels and get great customer service AND cheap prices. If we come back to Mackinac, we'll definitely be renting here again.Sidenote: there is another review about issues with pricing. They must not have compared against other bike rentals on the island, because Mackinac Wheels is definitely one of the more affordable. We were accurately charged for the # of hours that we used the bikes. Plus, they have a pretty good coupon on their website.

An easy in and out experience away from the craziness of the rental places when you first arrive at the docks. All of the bikes were in good working condition and we loved the relaxing ride around the island. Fees are prorated to every 15 minutes after the first hour so you don't need to stress about timing your return.

Had always had a great experience with them, but this time it was a horrible experience. Kelsey one of their staff members was very rude, making faces when a question was asked. When I asked for an explanation on the charges they made it seem very confusing. There rates are higher than other bike shops. When I said I would not be returning to them Kelsey stated “good never come back here” at this point she was not ever the person helping us and she still decided to make this comment while she was helping other customers. When you're paying for a service it’s expected to be treated with respect, their staff needs taught customer service.

Solid bike repair shop. Came here first to replace my worn seat, didn't charge for borrowing a tool for 2 seconds to swap them out. Then when my chain broke later that day, fixed it right quick. Sure, there were a few people ahead of me, but patience was worth it. Kept my partners bike there while they worked on it, they kept it safe too.Wonderful people running this facility.

These guys are great. You can imagine how busy they are on an island with no motorized vehicles.We started out by have a tire blowout in the first mile of our plan to bike around the island. These guys got us back on the road in just over an hour. They were planning to repair the tube, but ended up having the replace the tire as well. They had the correct size in stock and did the best they could to match the tread pattern.Because of these guys, we were able to bike all over the island, as we had originally intended.

Amazing price relative to other rentals (I love that they pro rate the cost based on how long you're out)! We got great bikes with baskets, and they informed us of how to get around the road closures so that we could still make it around the island perimeter. 10/10 would recommend!

Both mine and my husbands bikes broke at the same time while riding on the island. My chain broke and his jumped a gear. They were able to repair my chain, adjust his bike, put air in our tires, and adjusted our seats. Was in and out in about 15 mins and cost us $20. They were super nice and helpful. So glad this shop is here or we would have had to cut our trip short.

I stopped at Mackinac Wheels on a recent fall visit to Mackinac Island to say hello to their dogs.......Abbey and Chloe. The folks that work at Mackinac Wheels are friendly and engaging and were more than willing to allow me to meet and pet their dogs. I brought treats and spent time petting them both and enjoying their company. Do stop on your next visit to the island and enjoy Abbey and Chloe's wecome to "Mackinac Wheels".

We chose to go here after seeing the positive reviews, and were not disappointed! My partner got a traditional multi-speed bike while I had a trike! It was extremely comfortable and convenient to have the larger basket for our backpack/food on the ride, and the complimentary map/basket for my partner's bike was a great touch! They had a great half-day special ($39 for up to 5 hours per bike) that we took advantage of! We really only needed 2 hours to complete the eight mile island loop, but enjoyed riding so kept them to explore other parts of the island/town area.

Stunningly good experience- I had myself all worked up over a minor bike issue on vacation and they sorted out in 10 minutes, kept me out of rain and charged an exceedingly generous amount for saving me from frustration. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the island. What a good group of folks!
