This is a very pleasant book store. They have a wonderful children's section with many board books and picture books. They also have a nice-sized middle-grades area with plenty of chapter books. They have a lot of nonfiction books, which I always enjoy seeing. They have a really awesome book about the building of the Mackinac Bridge with tons of pictures.

Definitely worth visiting! A surprisingly good selection for a smaller site, and excellent customer service. My wife bought me a book there on my honeymoon, and it turns out it was missing some pages, and Island Bookstore sent me a perfect copy free of charge (I didn't even have to send back the original one).

We love this bookstore and make a point of coming in whenever we are on the island. This would be a 5 star review, but on our most recent visit, a gentleman (and I use that term loosely) was loudly berating an employee, it was embarrassing, and unnecessary, the situation should not have been dealt with in front of all of the customers. A member of our group went next door to get someone to come in and make them stop. His reaction was very flippant, they don't have to listen attitude. No one should be talked to the way she was.

Super cute and great selection of books! Perfect for anyone like me, who loves to pick up local reads for souvenirs! Big name authors as well as local ones, plus lots of super cute bookish knick knacks and gifts! Any book lover will love this store.

Absolutely love this family-run shop! The owner has written a children’s book about Mackinac Island and signed it for our kiddos— they were so excited! The staff were really warm and kind, and they had a great selection. Highly recommend stopping by here!

Not to be confused with the Little Island Bookstore across the street and further down!Quaint little bookstore. It has all the sections you'd expect at a bookstore, but they're maybe only a shelf or two in size. They sell manga, which my daughter was happy to see! She picked up a couple books and some cute kitty magnetic bookmarks.I was looking for some non-fiction books on Mackinac Island history. All I found were history books on narrow topics (i.e. Mackinac during the Civil War) or time periods (i.e. 1700 to 1880), and these books weren't the usual paperback but oddly sized thin books. I wanted something comprehensive spanning the history of the island from its founding to (roughly) present day, covering any events of consequence or intrigue. Perhaps such a book doesn't exist. Maybe the island's history just isn't big enough to fill such a book.

Staff was rude, not even so much as a thank you for a purchase. Would not ever make a purchase here, or visit the store again.6/6/22 In response to the Bookstore, it was yesterday afternoon while I was visiting the island (6/5/22). The store itself was great, a lot of selection. The attendant however, sadly, not so much. Thanks.

This is a great little bookshop that has lots of island-related books. I can always find something that I can't live without whenever I visit. They have a good kids section as well.
