The staff was super friendly and I dropped my phone and our guide went back and got it for me! They were very helpful and matched is up with perfect horses for our experience level! My kids said this was their favorite part of the trip!

Wonderful experience with Cindys! I chose the 1.5 hour unguided ride and went by myself on a white horse named TQ. I showed up at 11am on a Monday mid-August and was able to get riding by 11:30am. $75 was reasonable and I loved that they let me go off on my own.STAFF: The young woman who greeted me was very friendly. They have you fill out some info on your experience level before they select a horse for you. They provided helmets of different sizes if you wanted to wear one. My guide who took me and another rider up to the trails was also very friendly.THE RIDE: For the 1.5 hour unguided ride, the first 30 minutes or so was with the guide out of town and up to the trails. Then she sent me on my way on a dirt trail for about 15-20 minutes where I saw no one, to Sugar Loaf Rd, Arch Rock rd behind the fort, the Governor's Mansion, then the Grand Hotel golf course, and down the hill by the Grand Hotel. (My one suggestion would be for the guides to mention these landmarks when giving directions back to Cindy's.)MY HORSE: TQ was great! I have many years of riding experience but hadn't ridden in almost 10 years. I felt very safe the whole time. He needed a little direction sometimes, but that was just fine. Both his walk and trot had lots of 'get up and go' but he was very responsive if I wanted to change gait or move off to the side of the road more. He was not spooked at all by e-bikes, the airplane overhead, or the garbage bag of leaves (lol.) A very good boy!I'd highly recommend even to experienced riders who might otherwise be bored on guided trail rides because of their unguided option. I've been to Mackinac Island many times, and this was my favorite way to see the island!

We had a blast and our guide was amazing! We were looking back at the pictures that we took and one of the employees gave us the most stank looks. And I really didn’t like that I have about 10 photos of here just giving us the most disgusting looks. Other than the stank face I would recommend!

This was the absolute best. No one in my family has ever been on a horse before, but this was essentially my daughter’s dream. So we surprised her with the tour today. It was worth every single dime. The guide that came with us was remarkable. She talked us through the sites and helped us learn to ride. The tour also goes through some wooded trails. Honestly, this is a forever memory. The horses were so good. They pair you up with horses that match your ability.It was so clear that all the girls working there loved the horses. They were such professionals. Get there early because they book up. But we are all so glad we had this experience. Thanks for everything.

Such a fun experience! We have risen horses before so they put us in the back and allowed us to go off on our down another trail! It was so fun just to be us and our horses. Everywhere we go we try and ride, this has been the best! All the Stagg were very customer oriented and took care of everyone making sure we all felt safe. Great place if you know what you are doing or if you don't!

Incredible ride with or without guide through the trails on mackinac island. They assign you a horse they feel will fit your needs and experience best and give you an option of guided or unguided tours. There is an hourly rate for the saddled horse ride but it is well worth the money!!!

We have used Cindy’s Riding Stable multiple times on our numerous trips to the island. They have done a good job matching us with our horses. We took our girls 13, 11, and 9 plus my mother in law with us this time and it was a great time! The horses really know their path and do not require much knowledge of horsemanship which is good for tourists. We did an hour ride and our bodies definitely let us know it when we were done! 🤣 We will use them in the future and we will recommend to our friends and family. Side note: You can not make reservations here so if you’re there during the peak season plan to get there as soon as they open to get your name on a ride!

Can we go back please please please! Everything from: This is your horse to, this is how to drive your horse was explain in a language even I could understand. Our Guide was wonderful. Her knowledge of the Island and its many trails made the experience even more enjoyable. Our group was pretty diverse. Some of us rode a little before, some of us had never been on a horse. 11/10 will go back.

Great experience! If you are a little more experienced/comfortable you can ask to be able to ride off on your own for a bit. Bryan (not sure if spelled right) but she was a fun and talkative tour guide! I recommend getting there right when they open so you have first picks at times.

I took my dad and my wife here for a one hour tour through the state park trails. It was an amazing experience and well worth the $60/hr rate. The one hour timespan was perfect for novice riders like us. I definitely recommend this experience!

The entire experience was absolutely amazing and I will definitely come back and book a ride with this stable next time I am back on Mackinac Island.The horses they gave us were so well behaved and I never had to worry about them spooking.The biggest tip I would give people who are interested in getting a ride — COME EARLY, the closer to opening you can come to reserve a time, the better. Only 40 minutes after opening, and they were already booking out for noon, to give an idea how fast they book out.

Horseback was a great way to see part of the island we wouldn't otherwise have gone to. We started the ride with a group of people and after an hour the guide directed us to a trail if we wanted to go our own way; she was there with some kids belonging to another couple. The guide didn't talk much, not like a guide you expect at a tourist getaway, it was all "turn here" or "go straight" - no stories or history about the island. Directions for returning to the stables were sketchy as well, we had to consult Google maps when encountering trails we weren't told about. Don't regret the ride but it could have been better.

Very professional and safe. Horses are matched up with your riding experience. I like that you don't have to have a guide hanging around ... you can go out on your own ... which is amazing! The four of us hit the nature trails.

We had our best ride on Mackinac Island. We rode for 1 hour 40 minutes. We are experienced riders and horses were well matched with our goals. One can tell that the horses have great care on the island. Our ride was wonderful. We went past the old cemeteries, saw lots of wild flowers, the woods, arch rock, houses and finished by riding back into town past the Grand. The horses were so well behaved. Thank you for a great ride!!!!

The horses here were very well trained. Our guide Amy was awesome! Our youngest cousin was nervous at first and Amy made it a point to check on her frequently. The route we went on was also a nice mix of the small town roads and some nature trails. Well worth the $50 per hour if you want a fun and easy horse back riding experience.

This experience blew us away! We did a guided tour and saw parts of the island we would have never explored otherwise - all from the view on a horse! Everyone on the stable team was great, helpful for novice riders. Such a great value for the experience we received. A must do if you're visiting Mackinac.

My daughter and I, essentially first time riders, were treated so well at Cindy’s riding stables (well, at their other location, Jack’s, because this location was booked solid for the afternoon. Gentle horses were selected for us, and we were given a guide who made it all so easy. Enjoyed a nice, slow paced walk through the interior of the island. The staff were all kind and friendly and helpful. We’ll do it again next time we’re on the island!

I have been coming here for years. This is the first year my experience has been negative. I don’t know what has changed, but the staff were super short and not friendly, nor did they seem to care at all when I let them know our horses were not behaving for the entirety of our ride. Bucking, refusing to go down the longer trail, they were poorly behaved. We went with a group of 6- a few of us were extremely experienced with horses, and they did no fore-planning with the line arrangement or who was placed on which horse at all. My brother ended up having to switch horses with my mother (who is experienced) because they had placed him on a leading horse who kept cutting off our entire group even though he is a novice. My feedback is that the staff make much better note about who is experienced and who is not before choosing horse placement. We love Cindy’s, and felt extremely bummed about how badly our ride went and our experience was. Especially with a price increase. Hopefully they work on this!

We had such a great experience exploring the trails and our guide who walked us out Jean was amazing and so knowledgeable ♥️. If you know how to ride n want to explore on horseback they let you take out the horses by your self. And it was amazing !!! Thank you so much for the experience. Although they take no reservations, if you show up at opening, you reallywon't have to wait long. We chose a self guided trip with our horses Maple and Masa. We were guided up through the park and then left on our own with some directions. We did get lost despite the directions, but these horses know how to get back home and we thoroughly enjoyed our ride. Would definitely do it again.

My wife and I had a great experience at Cindy's! I have had some bad experiences with horses and am pretty anxious about riding. I rode Gouda and my wife rode Garth and had an amazing time. Our awesome guide led us to the trail, gave us some directions, and we were on our own the rest of the way. We will definitely be visiting Cindy's again next time we are on the island.

We had a wonderful ride! I believe Amelia is the staff who took us on our ride. She was great! The horses were well trained. We did the easy simple walk....no trotting etc. Very pleasant and peaceful.
