Got a soft pretzel ($6) and the famous fried pickles ($8.50). The pickles were indeed excellent - they were quartered spears, and the breading I believe had dill in it. Very tasty and juicy, not overdone or dried out at all. The soft pretzel was nothing to write home about, but the shop is an overall good stop at the halfway point (4 of 8 miles) of the 185 Lake Shore Loop on Mackinaw Island.

My husband & I had their fried pickles 2 days in a row & loved them! The hot cider is piping hot (be careful) and perfect for the colder months. Their fries & chicken are traditional, deep fried deliciousness & I found out you could have a small wedding there. How unique! I appreciate my cousins & their parents for suggesting this place to us. I thought it was worth it. 👌

We went here in September of 2023.It's a good spot for some food, but it's basically the only spot for food on this end of the island. So, it will be busy, but that's kind of to be expected. We got a chicken sandwich which was ok. We also got the fried pickles which were really good. It's kind of pricey as well but again, it's too be expected. No more or less expensive than anything else on the island.Great views and quite a few places to sit, with shade, while you eat.

We stumbled upon this little food stop a little past the halfway point of our bike loop around the periphery of Mackinaw Island.Based on other user reviews, we tried out the vanilla soft serve, and it was surprisingly delicious and creamy! I don’t know how this is possible but it was honestly one of the best soft serve ice creams I’ve had in recent memory.Definitely stop here for a sweet treat. Or if you’re feeling something savory, the chili cheese fries that we had here were quite delicious as well!

Good place to stop for a lunch break when riding around the island. Public restrooms are located near it. Food is a little pricey but you're on vacation so have fun. Their BBQ chicken and deep fried pickles are worth the bicycle ride out there.

Cannonball Oasis is a MUST DO on any Mackinac Island trip! We stopped for lunch as we biked around the island. This cute little place has the coolest atmosphere with fun music, beautiful views, and great shady spots to sit and rest before continuing around the island. The food is great (definitely get the chicken!) and the service is exceptional. You can tell the owner and his staff really care about their customers and making sure that the food is good, the service is fast, and the atmosphere is fun! Will definitely stop every time we visit Mackinac Island! Loved it!!

We stopped for ice cream. Ice cream was good. I.filled with m&ms, snickers, heath bar, sprinkles. Service was quick, price as expected. Straws are too small to suck up chunks of candy in your shake, so you need to use a spoon also. Not good when riding your bike.

Such a great stop on our bike ride around Mackinac Island! Outside dining only, about halfway out the full-island loop. Food is fresh; enjoyed burgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, mozzarella sticks and fried pickles! Beautiful, shady picnic grove next to the Straits. Not fancy but super fun!

In a first (so far) for the island, these onion rings are *not* the exact same frozen mishmash from Brew City. They are served in a brown patterned cardboard container - a slight cut above from plain coloration - though without the near-ubiquitous wax paper beneath. They are served in a large pile bulging out from the container.Though I suspect the onion rings may still be frozen, they're enough variation in the batter to make me doubt it - as cracks and crevices are mottled throughout the rings. The rings are also inconsistently sized - and varying in color from a pale golden brown to a darkened copper. At first glance, this indicates an inconsistent fry time - possibly two separate batches combined. All told, they look fairly inoffensive.Beyond a thin veneer of grease, these onion rings had literally no flavor whatsoever. There was no seasoning, a completely bland batter, and even the onions tasted like a mushy, flavorless paste - the type of bland sludge I imagine they would serve on an interstellar voyage in a dystopian future. The best comparison I can make for the taste of these onion rings is a particularly bland variety of cardboard, surrounding a ring of moistened paper.Even after biking for a few miles, and having worked up something of an appetite in the process, these onion rings did absolutely nothing for me. They provided no flavor, no sustenance, and no joy. I could feel anger building as I tried to shovel them down before wisely abandoning the prospect - though remained intrigued by a food that offered less flavor than a particularly white piece of iceberg lettuce. For the first time in my entire time writing review of onion rings, I was literally unable to finish eating them.In another feat of onion ring engineering, these onion rings had a texture that was simultaneously overcooked and cold. The batter was much too crunchy, and it felt more like gnawing through a hunk of wood than biting into an onion ring. Though the coloration would suggest not every onion ring would be overcooked, they were. They were also dry, sans the previously mentioned veneer of grease.I suspect that the overcooking was what led to the complete removal of any sense of flavor from the onion, though there was a hint of texture remaining. Though heated to within an inch of its existence, the onion interior was bizarrely cold. Given the wait time, I had assumed these were made to order, but the only possible explanation I can have for them being freezing and overcooked simultaneously is that they had waited in a bin somewhere for an hour or two before I arrived.Despite the complete absence of flavor and the almost inedible texture, both which I suspect were brought about by an excessive cook time, I still think these onion rings are a pretty good value. The whole basket was $4.50, an astronomically low price for Mackinac Island - probably equivalent to a $2 thing of frozen, poorly prepared onion rings on the mainland. My high evaluation of the value no doubt partially stems from the absurd prices for other frozen rings back in town. That said, they were close to inedible, I couldn't bring myself to finish them, and they are a memory best buried.

Credit cards accepted! Lots of options; very typical American cuisine but done well. Their fried pickles live up to the hype! There's lots of seating, all outdoors, with even more behind the building. But be aware, bees and seagulls are abundant. There are no restrooms on site, but just up the path there is a building with real bathrooms (not even a 5min walk away).Parking: Parking = bike parkingKid-friendliness: Incredibly kid friendly, lots of outdoor space for kids to explore while you wait. But stay close to the window, cause they call out your name when the food is ready; it is not brought to your table.

Stopped here on our way around the island. Nice to grab a refreshing ice cream. Nice place to stop to take a break. Sitting area under the trees so you don't get baked in the sun. Also has a nice view of the lake. Staff was very friendly and quick.

New ownership has ruined this once iconic Mackinac Island snack bar. Biked three miles out of town to enjoy a shake and fried pickles. Pickles were on "back order" because the once house-made fried pickles are apparently now ordered frozen. Similarly, what were once the best milkshakes on the island are simply no longer available. The diverse and eclectic menu has been reduced to roughly a half dozen cheap offerings. What was once an essential stop for tourists and even a worthy trip for residents and employees is a shadow of its former self. On your next trip around M-185, pack in your lunch.

My son and I had an excellent experience here today. The ice cream was delicious and perfect on the hot day. The service was top notch. I’d highly recommend this little place away from the downtown craziness. Perfect view to sit and enjoy their treats.

Been coming here for years. I've only ever ordered two things so I'll speak on those. The fried pickles are amazing, always well breaded and seasoned. The ice cream is lactose free so that's a really big plus. Always hard to find places that have good lactose free options, so I will forever look forward to coming here every time I visit the island!

They really put this in the perfect spot. No matter what direction you come to the place, you have been on your bike for a while, and you are probably hungry. My gripe is that they have soft serve and not real ice cream. They have burgers, fries, chicken, etc. I love their sign about if seagulls steal your food, they aren't replacing it.
