I purchased my bearded dragon, Baryte, from here a couple of years ago when he was a juvenile and I always recommend this place to others! He’s never had any health issues, and is all around a friendly, well-adjusted, well-eating lizard. He was my first reptile, and the lady who helped me check out was extremely helpful in explaining a feeding schedule, picking out the best lighting, etc etc. I also love that you can purchase crickets in LARGE quantities here. I always recommend this shop!

I came here as an incredibly trusting consumer, which was probably where I went wrong. We bought a baby red footed tortoise less than a week ago. I was told that everything the tortoise needed to “thrive” was there for purchase. Aside from the water and food dish and the hide, everything is wrong. Now I need to go spend more money to get an entire new set up (closed lid, different flooring for the set up, ceramic light, a different type of UVB light, etc.). This was not my first time in here and part of being so trusting was the immense amount of information I had learned about various different reptiles on previous trips. Super disappointed.

Very short over the phoneEDIT!!I was called up and it ended up in an argument because the woman who owns it lacks accountability and wants you to feel sorry for her 80-year-old mothers in-capability to not be rude over the phone and turned it into my fault and said “well you’re just upset about the animal” no I am upset about how a human being treated me and how a human being was short and rude to me.if she’s 80 and can’t be nice don’t have her on the phones and don’t have her working for your company. End of story.I don’t care that it’s just the two of you. I care that there is a lack of respect, and there’s a lack of care and understanding that there is another human being on the other end of the line.When you call people and ask them why they put a negative review down, maybe don’t come from an emotional stance come from a logical stance and say what can we do better instead of making every single excuse under the sun why you can’t be better.I’m telling everybody with reptiles I know to avoid this place. Your customer service is so ridiculously flawed.

Worst place ever I called to ask some questions about breaded dragon and all I got in responses was rudeness and condescending attitude. I was basically told that that store is elite and I have no choice but to deal with what I called about, because I didn’t get it from them and them answering questions doesn’t benefit them. I was also in the market for a new bearded dragon however after today’s interaction I’ll never go to the store. They have terrible customer service is terrible management. Save your money and go somewhere else.

I bought my super banana pastel ball python here! Hazel was very helpful in giving me all the information and care tips I could need to take my little guy home. They have great deals on supplies too! I’d definitely recommend anyone to go here either for purchasing a reptile, or keeping up on supplies!

I’ve been going to stingers for quite a few years. The ladies there are absolutely lovely and very knowledgeable. Well worth the 20 minute ride. Any reptile questions concerns or interest? Definitely worth a visit.

This little store has a LOT packed into it. Great place for feeders, and tank decor.I'm not sure what animals they offer, the back is blocked off but I did see baby bearded dragons.

Please read the reviews before wasting your time and money. The owner or those working in this store are very rude,and quite frankly awful. I don’t know how they have such a high review and their customer service is half a star at minimal. Please save yourself the time and the trouble and go somewhere else.

We will AVOID the place. I drove my son 90 minutes to look and found out they are not taking customers. Apparently this is on the website if you want to read the newsletter. The lady at the counter was less than pleasant.If you are looking for reptiles, Preuss Pets in Lansing is open for customers. They have a wonderful variety. At Preuss Pets, the workers are very knowledgeable, helpful, and nice.

I have been obsessing over tortoises for as long as I can recall, we've been researching seriously over the last year and was struggling to find a credible source to get our Russian tortoise from or places were out of them but then a friend found Stingers. The owner and her daughter were very polite on the phone and explained due to the Executive Order, they were doing curbside pick up only. When we went to pick up our lil Russian Tortoise, the daughter was very informative and kind. This is our first reptile and I didn't even know where to begin to get his necessities and I was thrilled they had a starter/setup kit which was beyond helpful. She even drew out an entire map/layout for me on how to set up his habitat and where to keep the temps, etc. It was SO HELPFUL. The owners you can tell respect the animals and definitely make sure the animals are cared for and in good health. I am happy I found them because I know our tortoise has not been handled by many hands and traumatized by people randomly handling him like a petting zoo. He's been home with us for a week and he is already settled in. He comes to us when its feeding time or if we're just peeking on him. His head perks at the sounds of our voices. There's no signs of aggression or discomfort from him when we have to handle him and I want to thank the owners tremendously for their no touch/handling policy, I know that plays a major factor on the animals behavior.I read the reviews for Stingers and I have to say I only see negative comments where people wanted to treat the shop as a petting zoo and the owners wouldn't allow the animals to be disturbed - rightfully so. as someone who was raised on a farm, we were taught to respect the animals and their environments. A pet is like a member of the family and it is your job to make their home as comfortable as can be in which suits them, otherwise don't get the pet which is what I heavily have stressed to my children. So the reviews complaining of "my kids couldn't run wild in the shop and bother the animals", are just unnecessary and shouldn't be on this site. I also understand that time is valuable, if you're not going to give the business to someone but take their time, you should seek out where you gave your business for help so actual clients of the owners can spend their time helping out those of us who purchased one of their animals when we need assistance.We are beyond happy with the experience and our tortoise. So thank you!

One of my favorite pet stores in Michigan. I've never walked out empty handed; they have some of the best prices and products for reptiles in the area. I stop in every time I'm in the area and recommend it to every reptile keeper I meet!

This is the first review I have ever written. Today I bought a ball python and everything to take care of her. The reason for the review is the service I received.The lady who helped me was extremely knowledgeable and unbelievably helpful. She answered every question I had, helped me decide what accessories I needed without being pushy, and even helped take a bag to my car while I took the tank. She also gave me a hand made diagram showing the proper layout for the terrarium to make sure the snake had a healthy home environment.I found out that they breed their own snakes which is amazing as well!

Everytime I come in they have this huge dog that barks aggressively anytime a customer walks in or walks by to try and by something. This is completely inappropriate and scares my four year old half to death. They call them guard dogs but a well trained guard dog doesn’t scare customers.

Ok, first let me address a bunch of other reviews:1. Yes, the owner (I think she is the owner) does come across "cold" (many have called her "rude"). I personally think she just isn't a bubbly, chatty person. If you want a lot of advice this probably isn't the place to go for that but, thankfully it isn't 1990, so you can get the answers you need on Google. The couple questions I have asked were met with one-word answers. Even when I have given great compliments, the compliments have been pretty much ignored. Again, this doesn't genuinely mean someone is a "mean" person, it is likely just not a typical perky saleswoman. Do I think the person working the sales floor should be "cold"? Heck no, but it's not my company.2. Yes, the prices are high and have gone even higher. We have spent well over $700 here in 2018 on hermit crabs, supplies for our numerous tanks, moss, lights, climbing toys, etc. However this past time we came in to get 4 more hermit crabs for our 7 foot x 4 foot "Crabtopia" and the price had doubled (YIKES!). The new price for crabs is $15 a piece for a "large", yet all crabs were considered "large", even the ones that were 1.5" (which is by absolutely no means a large crab). I told my son he can pick 1 crab here because the price is insane yet supporting local businesses means a lot to us. So he got 1 crab and we went to a competitor and bought the remaining 3 crabs for less than the cost of the one from Stingers. BUT....3. EVERYTHING we have ever bought from Stingers has been PERFECTLY HEALTHY. We still have every pet we have ever purchased from here!!!!4. The lizards Stingers has appear to have proper habitats and appear to be seriously loved by the owner. There's too many other stores where the lizards do not have proper habitats and it breaks my heart. On that note, the crabs do not have proper habitats and we feel so bad that we can't rescue them all. :/5. We have been charged properly, have been provided correct packaging for our new family members (pets) and again, we have had 0 illness. Isn't THIS technically what a pet store is SUPPOSED to do? The customer service is kind of secondary, you know?6. I'll end with this - if you have never owned a business, it's really easy to say what a business should or shouldn't do. Owning a business and working it every single day is HARD (trust me, I own one since 2005!!!). I'm not making excuses for anyone, i'm just saying, have a little kindness, it can go a long way. Businesses are an asset to the community, even if the owner isn't a warm, bubbly person who cheerfully answers every question. And, at the same time, businesses have to remember that the only reason they still exist is because of those crazy customers, those annoying customers, those stupid customers, those awesome customers, those cute customers, those silly customer and those customers that never say a single word but still took the time to come in when they could have just ordered on Amazon.

Me and a friend drove 2 hours to visit this shop based on the reviews alone. The staff was extremely helpful and gave suggestions based on your setup and type of reptile you own. They saved me from an overly pricey purchase by telling me to change the wattage of my bulb. My only complaint is you can only explore 5% of the store. The rest is closed off. It is not good for those who are claustrophobic and get anxious in small spaces. It was well worth the trip overall.

My family went here to purchase a turtle and the customer service sucked. There was an older woman that met us at the counter that had a less than welcoming personality. It was odd that we were not able to see the pets before purchase. You have to order the pets online and pick them up at the store. Please do not shop here.

I bought a 5 inch red foot tortoise from them a bit pricey but I’ve had it for 2 years and I think it’s a cherry head because of the color and the owners kept telling me to buy stuff I didn’t need your tortoise can live without a heat lamp if it’s old but I wouldn’t do that with smaller one s

You can tell they care about their animals, and go the extra mile to help you care for them. Have to ding a star for the store review because you can’t come see the animals to browse, so the in-store experience isn’t great. However, I trust them with their care and expertise, and that matters most!

1. They are rude and extremely unhelpful. We had a bearded less than a week and went to buy all the proper equipment. A 4x2x2, an arcadia t5 at 12% and so.e other items. The lady told me in her first sentence, your baby is going to Die! Scare tactics don't work with us! We found it very rude. Also, the store is not ADA compliant, so my husband couldn't shop. But then again, you can't actually shop the store. Only 4 ft is open to the public. This was a negative experience all around. Thankfully we found another small business who was patient, kind and jnowlegable. Just because you've been in business 20 years doesn't meant you know it all. Actually, this little knowledge that was imparted was out dated. Was a huge disappointment.
