YES ITS WORTH THE HYPE!! My sister saw this place on social media and we were excited to try a new sandwich. I will absolutely be back simply for the pretzel bread. It was so salty and delicious! I got the north shore and it didn’t disappoint for a second, the ratios were perfect. I will be dreaming about this sandwich.No cards!They only take cash or check.Prices are so affordable. Can’t believe i got a filling meal for less than $10?!? 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 outstanding.

Best sandwich I’ve ever had. Crave them all year round and since I’ve moved from Michigan. When I ever come back and go Up North I literally make sure I stop for one at least once. Every ingredient us just quality and so good. Lines are long (call ahead) and they run out of pretzel bread (tragedy but again, call ahead). Can’t recommend this place enough and it’s just such a cute little shack that hasn’t changed since I was a little girl coming. Love Cheese Shanty.

The Cheese Shanty was high on my list of places I wanted to go for our weekend in Leelanau and it DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT!We got there early in the day, received friendly and quick service and the best baguette.We will definitely be returning in the morning to grab some cheese to go.💯worth the stop for a quick lunch and walk around the area and other shops. A few minutes after we ordered the line filled up and only got fuller as we left. Don’t miss it!

GET THERE EARLY or call ahead! This wonderful little shack is known for its pretzel bread sammies. They only make a handful of the pretzel bread each day, so make sure you order yours in advance to try it out! The staff here is always friendly, hard-working, and working quickly and efficiently to give you a great sammie and experience. It's great to see them up their merch game over the last few years. Buy some cheese curds and go next door to Carlson's for some smoked fish or jerky! Of course, for a snack before or after the sammie! ;) <3 A Native.

Good for a quick bite to eat, cash or check, PET FRIENDLY!Stopped by the Village Cheese Shanty for a sandwich as recommended by Falling Waters Lodge keep and online reviews. As you can see in the pictures it's a nice little shack (shanty) where you place your order and pick up at a window. Great thing about that is IT'S PET FRIENDLY!The portion is decent size for the price, enough for two meals or shareable. The food was good, it's deli meat served from a shanty.. that's good enough for me. The place is cash or check only, fortunately we had our checks in the car.You might want to think about taking your order elsewhere to eat as the area was rampant with mosquitos when we were there, we ate in our car.The staff are EXTREMELY friendly, and even gave bacon to our dog. :)

They are cash or check only! Best sandwich ever, must try the pretzel bread. Grab your sandwich and walk around back to see the salmon jumping. Very cute location! If your in the area 10/10 recommend.

5 stars from me because my sandwich (South Shore) was SUPER good and reasonably priced. My husband probably would disagree because his sandwich (Blue Waters I believe) was pretty flavorless. Be prepared to wait. I would order here first and then go shop while you wait. Plenty of seating around town.

A great and simple sandwich. I had a ham, Gouda on pretzel bun. The flavor was great but there was a bit too much bun. I would defiantly come back for another when I return to the area. Expect the shop to be crowded but the service will be quick.

I have at least one of their sandwiches per week...because they are delicious! It gets very busy there, so do yourself a favor and call in your order ahead of time.

This is a must visit if you are in the area. The North Shore (the pretzel bun is unique and incredible) and the Log Jam are our favorite. The place is cash-only so be sure you have some ready when you arrive.You also have to pay for parking and cell service can be spotty so prepare for that potential complication.

Best sandwich I've ever eaten in my life. When we came 15mins before close, (we live 5hrs away, and came to Leland 30mins from where we were staying in sleeping bear just for these sandwiches) they refused to serve us. Most disappointing moment of our trip :(They also don't take card. Great food, awful business practice. As if they don't want our business

We come to the Village Cheese Shanty multiple times every summer. As vegetarians, the Manitou is a great sandwich (we order it on baguettes rather than pita).Just picked up our sandwiches after an hour long wait. The baguette was stale and the sandwich tiny. Biggest problem? It didn’t include the Dill Havarti that makes the sandwich! So disappointed

I’m not sure what the hype is all about with this place. First the positives, the location and atmosphere is very nice and scenic. Well done there. Now to the negatives. The sandwiches seemed very bland and basic. There wasn’t anything special about them and the preparation was a bit sloppy in my opinion. I’ll gladly pay over $10 for a good sandwich but this was not it. Also, how do they not take credit cards in 2023? This place needs the income from tourists to survive and I wonder if being a cash only business catches some would-be-patrons off guard. If they just improved the food a bit, this place would be spot on. I understand his reviews can make or break local businesses so I hope they take this and try to take advantage of it.
