This is the cutest pet store! We've been coming to this pet store for years and I enjoy bringing my child. He loves feeding the koi and checking out the birds. They even have pet store pets and it's very adorable. Highly recommend, and the staff is so nice.

This place is an amazing pet store they have just about everything you need and sell a wide variety of tank pets (fish, lizards, turltes, frogs, hamsters, ferrets and more) and a great selection of birds. And a nice selection of things for our furry friends dogs and cats. It's worth the trip just to walk through and look at everything.

Today I stopped at Preuss' Pets for a few minutes while I was in Lansing for work. What a great store?! I was not disappointed. Very large selection for all pet types, nice staff and beautiful tank setups. It was a great experience.

Stopped here on our way home from a day trip. Absolutely loved it. All the fish, birds, reptiles, and even tarantulas were set up for viewing. I had my two young nieces with us. The guy coaxed the eel out for them to view. They are still talking about it.

This place is FULL of fish, birds, reptiles, and rodents (in the best way). Sunday evening was crazy busy and parking lot was full. Dogs are welcome, and they even helped us when ours had a little accident inside. Dogs are NOT welcome onto the bird side, so note that if you are coming for the birds! Amazing staff, great social media, and the dog trick or treating was adorable.

Excellent selection for live fish, literally half a warehouse worth of fresh water fish, salt water fish, exotic corals and salt water animals, and fresh water plants. Well worth the 1.5 hour drive to visit this place. Warning: This place is very busy on the weekend. Went on a Saturday and there were a LOT of people. The workers were kind and helpful, but there was a bit of a wait. But between the reptile, snakes, animals, birds, and water creatures to observe, the wait time flew by. But please keep this in mind and make sure you give yourself 2 hours of time to peruse the selection and get help from workers. Basically do not come late, an hour before closing on the weekend, and think you can walk in, get your stuff, and get out.

Even if you're not looking to expand your family, Preuss Pets is a wonderful place to explore and enjoy the fish, birds, and various animals. It's such a pleasant environment at Pruess; the staff is friendly, kind, and accommodating. During our last visit, we even tried feeding the fish in the koi pond. It was the highlight of my children's day. Thanks, Pruess!

Huge store with aisles of products. Over 6 aisles of fish, both fresh and salt water. Lots of birds. Prices were good. Very nice setups for their fish and reptiles.

We live 1.5 hours away, but it's worth the trip. We have been down several times. We didn't plan on them closing at six (sunday adjusted hours, our bad,) but they held some stuff at the register and let us grab it quick even though they were closed. Great store. Some of the staff are very friendly. The saltwater fish people and bird people are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Came from out of town on a road trip to visit this place and the zoo in Lansing. My boyfriend and I loved it! They have a great selection of nearly everything, and I truly enjoying wandering around and looking at everything. I’d love to see them stray away from using wire wheels with the small mammals and rodents soon, as those wheels can catch small toes and feet and can cause injuries. Other than that, I think the place is great! :) I got some cool bioactive supplies that I’m excited to use on a terrarium that I’m redoing for my crested gecko! <3

No ventilation inside the building. The air quality is so bad I cannot breathe in there. Tanks and cages overcrowded. Way too many koi fish in the koi ponds. And why do they have a stingray in such small tank that it can't even turn around? They shouldn't even have a stingray in the first place.It has the potential to be a cool pet store, but money is obviously the major thing here. The animals do not come first. Based on other reviews, it seems like it used to be great but went downhill a while ago.

This is still the best pet store I've ever seen. I take a group of people with disabilities that have sensory issues in for a visit, the staff are always so good with them.

Preuss Pet’s made my daughters 7th birthday so special and memorable. We will always remember and rave about this experience. The host, Shawn was so kind and fun and natural with children. The educational aspect of the event was so amazing and hands on. They were so patient and kind with my friends and family, 10/10 recommend!!!

Going to Preuss Pets is an experience. There are all sorts of exotic animals to be had as this place specializes in them. The animals appear to be well taken care of. The staff are happy and knowledgeable. The owner is usually around as well and is very welcoming. There are events that get hosted here and the store is active with events in Old Town.A few things to keep in mind when visiting is that this place can be a bit overwhelming on the senses, especially on a busy day when there are a lot of people there. There are birds that screech and the store is humid.As someone who is basic and just owns dogs and cats, this places carries a some products for them and some fancy high quality food brands. I even found some food here that my picky chihuahua likes to eat (more consistently anyways, she is still a chihuahua). But it is nowhere near the large variety found in a Soldan's, Pet Supplies Plus, Joey's Pet Outfitters or these big box pet stores (you know the ones). However, if you're near by, it's worth stopping by to see what they have; you might find something your dog or cat can enjoy as well. I can't really ding them on this since exotic pets is the focus of this place.

I heard of Preuss Pets by word of mouth at another pet store. I was hesitant to make a 2hr drive from Ohio, but it was worth it!!! My interest is African Cichlids and they have the best selection I've encountered yet at any pet store and that's saying a lot! They also have plenty of other fresh water fish and saltwater as well with amazing tank setups. They also have reptiles/amphibians, and other small animals & birds. The staff is very pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐all day long!! 🐟🐠🐡🦎🐢🐇🐍🐦🐁

Two weeks ago we went to visit the store, bought a few birds.. we have experience handling variety of breeds. Two days later two seemed to be very ill, which was confusing to us because we made sure to put them all together at first so they didn’t feel the change as bad. Then 1 died, We called the place to let them know and see if they would do something about it, and all they did was question location, temperature of the area where the birds are and assured us the manager would call back. Never received the call.

Love Preuss! When it comes to fish they know their stuff. Anthony and Nikki and Glen are very helpful in the fish department, and helped me mediate a ICH problem I got from buying a PetSmart fish. Thanks!! Plus awesome Birthday Parties for kids!! Cant remember the gal that did my boys birthday party’s name but she was awesome too. I would highly recommend a birthday party here. Fun & educational for all ages.

Writing this review is a bit difficult because I experienced many emotions on my first time visiting Preuss Pets in my 12 years that I've been in Michigan. The initial impression is amazement due to the wide range of animals and the different habitats that house the different species. I went in with the sole desire to own my very first pet/s. I've always know I wanted a dog but living in an apartment can be expensive and not comfortable for them so I have put that on hold throughout this time. I have always loved birds, especially parakeets due to the nostalgia from my childhood (my grandmother had them throughout her lifetime). I remember helping her take care of them and the feeling of being so amazed by these avian beauties. Keep in mind, I visited with the goal in mind to purchase 2 parakeets and I found my potential long-term pet friends ❤️. I was able to reserve 2 specific birds upon closing, and I was one step closer to obtaining my parakeet birds. I was advised that the closing agreement would take about an hour, understandably - owning parakeets is also a large responsibility. I decided to come in the next day to finalize the purchase, after carefully reviewing the recommendational instruction packet provided by a staff member. By this day, I had extensive research and suggestions on owning parakeets and had 2 cages set up and ready to go, prepped with food, water, treats, perches, etc. I was prepared, or so I thought... when I arrived, with the thought in mind that I would be taking home my first 2 pets I was welcomed with a statement addressing my tardy arrival (that is my own fault, as I had decided to take invite my best friend who already has 4 parakeets, 2 of which she has had for 10 years). I could have called but I was just so excited and thankful that she was able to come with me. I in no way implied that I needed to be attended right away but I guess the staff member felt the need to start the conversation that way. I was politely informed that another project was initiated before they could attend me and I understood and waited patiently. I would have also been ok if i was told to come the next day. Not more than 5 minutes passed before I was attended by the same staff member (whom I had not met the day before, on my initial visit to Preuss). I told him I wanted to pick up the two parakeets that I had reserved and was asked the following (questions were not prased as below):1. Why do you want birds, and how many, what sex?2. What is your current set up?I answered as I could with the following.. I always wanted to have pets and birds have always been a preference, with the space that I could offer. My desire was to have 2 males (as previously recommended by every other pet store I had been to as females tend to be territorial). I've also seen that on the cage description in other petstores, it specifically recommended having them in pairs, as birds tend to be very social. I wanted to potentially have them in the same cage. To my dismay, I was confronted with immediate discouraging suggestions, that I should only have one bird, in a cage (roughly 20"x15"x25"). Keep I. Mind, these parakeets were roughly 10 months old at least, living in conditions were 10 other birds were being housed, in a cage that was double the size of that recommendation in height, yet, I was HIGHLY encouraged to only take one. I learned that contrary to pupular belief, parakeets can be single pets.. I did have 2 cages set up, just in case I needed to use one to carry my new pet friends but was encouraged to keep them in separate cages, as I would need to socialize them eventually (which is what I wanted to do, in terms of socializing them). I would have rather the staff member share recommendations from the start, instead of telling me my ideas were completely wrong and I was set up to fail. The staff member in no way spoke to me in an undesired tone, he was professional in that manner.I just recall my emotions racing and I was losing hope. Long story short, I was able to walk out with my 2 parakeets after a long convo

Service was wonderful once you make it clear that you actually plan on purchasing something. There are a lot of people who treat this place like a free zoo and have no intention on buying anything and I think the staff assumes (correctly) that most people are there just to look, so it took some time before an employee actually approached me to help, but once they did, they were super friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with my questions. Very pleased with my purchases.

I imagined a large pet store, but it delivered much more character and community than I thought. From fish (fresh and salt), to lizards, to birds and ferrets, even an amazing variety of aquatic plants. A wonderful experience and will be returning for more fish and fish accessories

Press Pets is a great place to visit and enjoy the sights and sounds, they are definitely a boutique type pet store in that they have a quite extensive selection of critters and aquatic plants and such but the PRICES, oh boy. There mark ups are very high and oddly inconsistent, some things are "normal" priced then under and then mostly way over priced. I have to believe that if they lowered there prices that they would sell way more product and still be profitable.

We live an hour and a half away, but love coming to this store. We easily spend two hours here every time. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I was even able to find food for my allergy ridden kitty. Win win all around.

I always love visiting this pet store. There is such a wide variety of pets. The staff seems very knowledgeable about the animals they sell and seem to care about the health of the animals. Just bought a beautiful betta fish from them, and he's been doing great. They don't have tons of cat and dog pet supplies, but they do have the basics. Mainly exotic animal supplies. Definitely recommend a visit.

We went for the fish and spent almost an hour just walking through looking at all the beauty. they have so many choices for hardcapes and plants as well as tons of stunning fish. like many fish stores their treatment of their betta fish was disappointing, but it looked like the rest of the livestock were very well cared for. overall it was a wonderful experience and I plan on visiting again whenever we travel back up to Lansing
